Shovel of Ponz

I am a player returning from a many-year hiatus. I thought this item used to raise the level of you summoned pet?

It does, effectively. I'm not sure if it literally raises their level, but they hit harder, have more HP, etc. as if they were higher level.

I am a 56 shaman with a 49 pet spell Frenzied Spirit. IIRC, you would put the shovel in a base inventory slot and summon for the pet to become stronger. Is that how it (still) works?

I thought shovel only helped the MAGE earth pet.

I don’t believe shovel helps a shamans pet, although I admit I could be wrong.

There are no pet focus items for Shaman but you can still use it to cast Reclaim Energy from your inventory.

These focus item like torch Stein and shovel only make the mage pet and only the mage pet 25% stronger... Does not increase the level. Means it has 25% more life and is 25% larger in size with the focus items. Now the earth, fire, air and water staff drops from hate, sky and phinny do increase the mage pet level by one. Also makes it 25% larger in size. This only effects the level 51 and higher pets on these staves. Alot of classes shm druid that cast a pet for dumb amounts of mana 600 for the druid oof use these items to reclaim the pets mana cost once they are done.

The shovel is a way for Shaman to cast Reclaim Energy on their pets by being able to use the mage item from top level inventory. You would have to be able to equip it to get the pet summon boost from it, which shaman can not do.

The staves work on 49 pets.
