I would like someone to help me and quest with me. If you are starting a new character let's group up and do some quests. I am really having trouble finding my skills and finding quests, I am not looking for someone to bombard with mundayne questions.

I played Ruins of Kunark back in 2000 but only got to about lvl 10 before I stopped becuase I couldn't afford it, I consider myself a seasoned mmo player so I am not a total noob I just need a little help

On the subject of quests, how do I find quests? I can't seem to find any anywhere.

Quests. Best to look up quests by zone. Also remember this is classic and kunark. Some of the sites will have extra quests that are not implemented yet.

You must Hail a npc and start a conversation with him.. Try repeating the highlighted words back to them. Or put them in a sentence. There is no QUest log In classic or kunark so wright things down you need to remember.

Best of luck to you. My main is not of lvl for me to be alting just yet or I would show you around. PM me ingame if you do need any advise on where to go to find groups.

Be safe.

Thank you, I know about the /hail command, im starting to get a better feel for the game overall and I like it :) I just want a leveling partner who understands the game. What's your toons name?

Hitting 'h' is a handy shortcut to /hail.

Your best bet is to stop looking for quests as they are a very minor part of the game (contrary to the name). Go kill stuff and group with people, that is the game. When you get good enough maybe you can poopsock

Nalkin is Right. Enjoy the group grind :)

Yeah, these guys are right.

There are quests in the game. Some are quick ones that you will repeat for EXP and loot, others are epic and take days, even weeks to complete. The gameplay of classic EQ is not focused on questing though. There is no linear quest path like other, newer MMOs.

Where this game shines is being social, grouping, killing, making money, building a group of friends or even a guild, helping other players, exploring, dying, having to run across the continent to retreive your corpse, fun stuff like that. Instead of relying on quests to set your goals for you, set your own goals. Having said that though, the P99 Wiki has a pretty good list of quests to get your started if you're really into searching them out :)

having to run across continents to retreive your corpse, gut-wrenching stuff like that.

Fixed.

Haha... yeah, fair enough. I dunno though, after my experience in Befallen the other night, a lengthy coprse run seems like a breeze.

Three of us died behind the second locked door and no one had the right keys to get down so our corpses were stuck in a place we could not get to. We would have had to kill the mobs that drops the keys while naked, while also making our way all the way down to the bottom past the other hordes of undead. Luckily we had a couple higher level players help us out, but if they weren't there that could have really been a mess....

You don't quest in Everquest, you just kill stuff.

Basically its the most misleading game title ever. Unless you consider it one long ass quest to get to 50 and then to 60 and then to whatever the new level cap is for the new expasion Everquest: Something of Something, in that case its a very accurate title.

I must disagree.. I just completed the burning rapier quest at lvl 30 and it was hella fun... I think if you don't find good quest you are denying yourself an important aspect of the game...

It's not that you shouldn't do quests. There are many epic quests that have amazing rewards that are totally worth looking into and completing. It's just that EQ's gameplay is not focused on quests as much as other, new MMOs. It seems like the OPs point of view is that you hook on to a quest chain and progress that way, but EQ is much less linear than that.

There are many quests, and you should definitely do some of them. But when starting out in the game, and trying to grasp the rhythms and mechanics of the gameplay, it is probably better to understand that the bulk of your progression will be done through grouping and camping mobs, and/or raids.

To try to stay on topic and be more helpful though:

One quest I would recommend doing at lower levels is the Crushbone belts in Clan Crushbone. This zone is located right off of Greater Faydark (close by to starting areas if you're a Wood Elf, High Elf, Gnome or Dwarf).

Anyway, you kill orcs and collect Crusbone belts. There is a NPC in Kaladim (Dwarf city) that you turn the belts into. It is infinitely repeatable and very good exp from about level 4-10. You will get a decent amount of exp and a piece of armor to be worn or sold for every single belt you turn in. Even at higher levels, you can farm these belts and sell them to players for some pretty decent cash :)

Another thing to point out is that quests like this do not have to be initiated at the NPC before beginning them. Using this one for example, you can collect as many CB belts as you want before even talking to the NPC who is associated with the quest, and still go speak to him and turn them in after. I don't think this would apply to all quests, because some stages and such.

if you are'nt on that side of the world, deathfist belts are also an option. (if your in the freeport area and are'nt evil). same premise as the crushbone belts, tho deathfist does'nt have their own zone, they are found in the 2 camps in east commons and i think there might be a couple in west commons.

This game sounds terrifying! D: lol, I kind of gave up on finding quests, I just worry about finding gear now, I will probably end up buying it somewhere.

It's not terrifying... it's just... non-linear.
You're 'born' with a sword and a note and it's up to you from there.

Find friends. They'll point you in the right direction and watch your back.

thanks for all the helpful tips guys, I did try and read up on quests before this and assumed they were just vauge discriptions. I will find the game much more enjoyable now that I know that questing is not an important factor and I can infact do whatever I want.

I wouldn't worry too much about gear, unless you are a melee then get a decent weapon. I would just save up for spells and some -cheap- caster gear if I was going that route also.

Jval the name is Hmotzart. Yeh this game isn't based on questing since most every quest reward is trade able. If you want to purchace items best place to look for trades is in East Commons if you are lost. http://www.steveprutz.com/eq/ is a great site for maps. THANKS STEEEVE!

This game is more about community than gear or quests.. Make friends, adventure with them and have a good time. You reputation is really all you have here. You mess that up and Good luck getting anything done in the long run. Hope you have fun and GL.

IMO the name suits the game except a little backwards. should be named Quests that take forEver. HEHE . That's where the term EPIC comes from in other games. But here once the epic's open up you'll see what a real epic item is. It is not Epicly running to your epic bank, pulling out your epic cash, epicly running to the epic auction house, and buying your EPIC! hehe..

Here it is truly a epic quest to get your epic.

I am Draxz in game, feel free to sent me a tell whenever. I can't offer much support since I'm only lvl 11 but I played EQ Live a lot back in the day and I'm always down for helping out.

And yeah, this game can be terrifying, but that's one of the things that makes it awesome!

Yeah brocachos its all about xp. I wouldn't worry about items until 29-34+ at minimum. Can't really camp any good items until 39-44+.

Save all of your coin! Save that shit up until you have enough to buy some decent loot! That's how I got my (respectable for a new character) stuff.

What is the race/class? I'm sure many people here can suggest some newbie quests or cheap gear to get you started.

I started a new toon last night and finally settled on a iksar necro (due to having irregular playtime and being off-peak). My character name is Warnie (lvl 5 at the moment) - shoot me a tell - would be great to group up.
