Can we SERIOUSLY consider allowing BLUE server to go to Luclin/PoP

I know it's been discussed many times, but now that Green server is alive and well for all those that want to relive the classic timeline, what can we do with those of us that have countless hours in our Blue toons and want to take the next steps.

I'd personally LOVE to see the PoP content again. What can we do to make this happen?

No thanks, I am fine with where Blue is at and it never releasing future expansions. This allows me to play each class with the goal of end content on all of them. It's going to take a while, but its a good goal.

Yuck, I'm on P99 because I loathed that stuff that came later. I especially loathed Planes of Power. It drove me out of the game the first time 'round and it'd drive me away from here too. I don't want to re-live the classic timeline either. Classic timeline was much too short for people with lives outside the game. Could never catch up before the next expansion came along and rendered everything outdated again. P1999's extended timeline was one of its largest advantages for me and the fixed era is no issue. I know what I'm getting and I'm fine with it.

I do remember reading something about that several years back.

Frankly, I would like to see a game like Diablo 3 get modified to employ the same mechanics as classic EQ. For example, reducing the amount of mobs, and making the ordinary mob, much much harder to kill.

Exanima is a game currently in development, but is playable right now (in Beta I believe) that is similar to what im talking about.

Blue was the test server for Green. It always was, and they stated that from the start. if you don't want to go past Velious, move to Green, as that is what it is for.

There is a seriously growing interest in moving ahead with Luclin. Its the VERY few people whining about it here. But it is always the same few people whining over and over and over.

Even if they were to release Luclin, if you don't like the expansion, don't go there. There rest of us will. It's always your option.

The excuse of wanting to level out one of every class means nothing, as I said earlier....Move to Green. You can't have it both ways. The rest of us that stayed with blue, aren't hindered by the "classic" mentality. We just want the fun of exploring new lands, MoBs and spells.

The devs have already worked out the basic EQ infrastructure, and Luclin already exists on the client. I don't see as creative as the devs here are, that they are going to be content with simply maintaining Green. That goal has been achieved. They acknowledged it already, and have stated they wanna do some custom content on blue, translation: Blue is no longer constrained to purely classic. Move to Green.

Perhaps with any luck, they will start the Great Luclin expansion. I mean you can only kill the top Velious stuff so many times before you stagnate.

REALLY just play the TLP server on live the next time they run one. You will enjoy it thoroughly. I'm not trying to be an asshole but those servers go through the timeline past Velious. This project was and is about emulating what the project leaders (and the people that came here) to be the peak of everquest.

serious talk: custom zones? probably REALLY hard to implement. custom race? maybe sarnak or coldain would be cool. custom class? i dont think so - what would be its purpose? custom items - DEFINITELY YES! something cool but not gamebreaking, like a gnomish music box: rightclick to play some bard song. made by tinkerers to promote gnome pop and tradeskills. maybe add an enchanting tradeskill...

Actually, not so much.

Keep in mind the staff has had to re-create every zone from Classic-Velious, and each one of those zones was harder than making a custom zone, because they had to do tons of research and try to conform exactly to what Verant made.

With custom zones they just grab some random post-classic-era zone, and fill it with whatever mobs/items they feel like. They've actually said that this is the reason they won't be re-creating any more original Verant zones: if we get (say) a Plane of Earth that you reach from The Hole, it will be a custom P99 version of it and not a copy of the one from Planes (of course, the Planes one was built for level 65s with AAs, so that kind of goes without saying anyways ... but the point is that custom is easier than classic for the devs).

A few friends play over there. GM’s are fairly active. You can box up to 3 characters. They seem to like it but it is a smaller community.

This is one zone that I know several people want as a custom addition to blue. Just nerf the item stats, remove equipment drops or replace with other items. Change models to fit P99 and boom a new zone that's not out of place on blue!

The entrance to The Serpent ‘s Spine should have been behind the awesome waterfall in East Karana. Or Depths of Darkhollow. Either way, that place is a huge missed opportunity.

Some filler zones between South Karana and Oasis would be cool, Rujarkan hills maybe?

I swapped from P99 to TAKP a few years back because my neckbearding days were coming to an end (READ: we started having kids).

TAKP is a great alternate to scratch the EQ itch and far more friendly to those of us with very limited playtime. TAKP is in the midst of Luclin with POP to drop sometime in the next year probably. It also has the most adult, kind, friendly group of people i've ever played an MMO with.

But i do miss the adrenaline that kicks in when an earthquake hits.......

That's interesting. In 2011-2012 I actually played on EQMac (what a weird thing it was. switching from PC to mac when I was at uni, and my favourite game from high school got released... and was free to play. like wut? on a mac. The whole world was upside down for me when I first found out). Reading that TAKP is essentially EQMac++ is fascinating. Unfortunately, I don't look forward to PoP content, and not even interested in much from Luclin in terms of zones (bazar included....that was strage. I hated how quiet EC got. Nexus/PoK were terrible stale meeting spots.) I liked some of what the new models and spell effects brought in terms of high quality GFX, but in a lot of ways the new style puts me off. So it is a bit of a mixed bag. Once you add in the smaller community and the 3 box rule and the bonus xp (is that bonus XP now about the same as what p99 has?) it starts to sound less enticing.

I'm not in it for the classic vs non-classic really. I'm looking for a good server to play on.

I would love some custom content. Is that a thing the Devs are open to? I'm sure the community could bring itself together to develop some of it. I mean the HD texture pack is incredible for a fan run project for a fan run server. A lot of DnD people are very creative no?

The alkabor project is a great EQ emu server. Its easy for p99 players to forget that P99 is part of a larger ever quest emulator community and there are some other cool guys out there.It's really easy for rabid p99 players to get lost in their own assholes in general.

The neck-beards on Blue would be focusing on SSRA and VT keys. Guilds that couldn’t compete before would finally get NTOV loot and ST / VP keys. I realize that this server never intended or intends to go beyond Velious and perhaps don’t have the legal permission, technological capability or required staff but I think it would have been a perfect storm if they had released Green and Luclin simultaneously.

I agree, but the point was to discourage boxing and enable those that didn't. They really should have probably not gone in.

But they sure were nice :D for awhile!

Uhm... WoW and the boombust of all those different MMOs right after EQ hurt the game more than anything, they should have just contracted their servers down into smaller and smaller grps rather than trying to 'fight the bleed' and pixel lust with clarity I, II, III, IV etc pots.

Those ds pots were ace! Log on 30 mins a day, pop pot, lesson and steadfast servant and berserker was 65 in no time. Epic was pretty cool when it procced a buff that would make itself reproc as long as you kept swinging.
