I know that Kunark is thankfully a ways away but I have been trying to prepare for my epic and was wondering if the side quests to get the Jagged Diamond Dagger and the Cazic quill were part of the original quest? Seems like they were added to dumb down the quest like the Broken Golem was added to the Wiz epic at some point.

Would like to know before I start saving up for a Mithril 2handner and a Ishva robe...

They were part of the original quest. General sometimes drops the Cazic Quill, Renux always drops the JDD.
