Why is PoM part of a raid ban?

I'm not sure how that applies. Being allowed in PoM wouldn't allow you in ToV. I accept that the situation is what it is. I am just trying to honestly understand the underlying logic behind banning card farming and leveling in a non-raid zone for characters bound or camped out in PoM. How is that logically connected to raiding?

It does seem like they could easily ban raiders from using ToV, while still allowing them access to PoM (if already there, or bound there). If the staff's logic was purely to prevent raiders from raiding, why ban raiders from going from any non-raid zone to any other?

I'd think it would make more sense for their motives to be punitive in some sense. Maybe "PoM is a perk for people who clear ToV (*corrected) and the people they feel like CotHing ... the non-raiders CotH-ed in didn't break the rules, so they stay, but all the raiders lose the raid privilege of the zone."

But look, even if the reason is literally just that it would be a minor hassle for the staff to have to type "The Planes (but not Mischief)" ... I'm 100% ok with that personally! We're talking about the people that volunteer their time to catch the cheaters, so that the rest of us can have a cheat-free (not to mention actually free) game!

Even if allowing PoM would mean people loitered in ToV waiting for coths (it probably wouldn't) or meant PoM mages would interfere with people's raids in NToV (they certainly wouldn't), neither of those things is raiding.

The real reason is because sirken just made all that shit up.

While I am adhering to the punishment, keep in mind that this penalty was imposed on MANY people who not only had never even heard about this exploit, but have not even been to the zone in witch it took place. Literally EVER. As in, not once in my entire life. I've never even seen a screen shot of the place...

But hey, I recognize that I may have indirectly benefited from the exploit that apparently every guild was using. I just wish that they would have banned the offenders directly. Or perhaps just talked to all the guilds for 12 seconds and said "Hey this thing you are apparently all doing... stop doing it. Pretty sure that would have worked too.

They suspended individuals too, but as stated by Loramin in another thread this sends the message that no one is getting away with it and just taking a fall for the guild.

theres a few guilds to grepfor and grep is gud and u shouldnt be logged in as root i'm just lazy and used the pound sign, in fact its actually best practice to sudo everything even if u r root

sometimes sudo has a few limitations on it to protect from particularly horrible boofs in a script... so its less likely to delete ur entire box on accident

sometimes sudo has it's own shell... piping the results of grep into rm command

now here's the thing its not meant to wipe the box, just the guilds and its the laziest hack of a command it will never work i just typed it out so anyone who has any idea gets what i mean its not to meant to actualy work it would require a lil more effort

i think during an AM ban years ago they flooded PoM with like 60 people and it eventually became off limits

Seems to me. Bans aren't good enough. You have to go after the characters these weirdos use for power leveling their alts. And delete. GM Change their races n starting stats to non min max ones so these guys can't play. Delete their legacy items. It's the only way to be sure.
