I haven't played in a couple years but I recently logged into P99 and hit alt enter to change to windowed mode and the game crashed. Since then it will not load and gives me the same error each time. Anyone ever experience this and have a solution?

I followed these steps:
First step I renamed my eqclient.ini to eqclient_bak.ini which resulted in the same error as above, so I started changing settings manually in the eqclient.ini
"Problem: Error/Crash When Logging In: "The instruction at 0x029110ce referenced memory at 0xfffffffc. The memory could not be read"
Go to your EQ folder. Open the file eqclient.ini. Find (CTRL + f) "windowedwidth". You should see something like this:
WindowedWidth=1280
WindowedHeight=768
Width=1280
Height=768
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
WidthWindowed=1280
HeightWindowed=768
change it to this:
WindowedWidth=800
WindowedHeight=600
Width=800
Height=600
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
WidthWindowed=800
HeightWindowed=600
This example uses 800 x 600 resolution, but if 800 x 600 isn't working, try using your monitors native resolution, or another resolution, instead. Eventually you will get a combination that works, just keep trying.
Problem: Other Errors/Crashes when Logging In"
The problem persisted so I scrolled down to "WindowedMode=FALSE" and changed it to TRUE, now I can get to the login screen, after I enter my account info I get a new error, tried multiple times.
Are you trying to start the game fullscreened? Try windowed mode and then further tweak your resolution(s) from there. You can set this in your eqclient.ini file:
WindowedMode=TRUE

I was able to get in here's what worked for me.
1) Renamed my Eqclient.ini to Eqclient_bak.ini
2) Added the line WindowedMode=TRUE in the .ini file
3) Added the following lines
WindowedWidth=800
WindowedHeight=600
Width=800
Height=600
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
WidthWindowed=800
HeightWindowed=600
This allowed me to login I tried a variation of different steps but nothing would work for me personally besides doing it in this order.
Thanks for guiding me Mcoy.
*Update If I go full screen once in the game it crashes and appears I'll need to repeat my own steps to fix my problem once more. I'm okay playing windowed mode so no big deal.

I have to go through these steps each time I want to login it seems. Very frustrating, anyone have any ideas?

Also been seeing this, right after logging in, the error pops on server select screen. Above steps also didn't work for me.

If you are running compatability mode, turn it off. This worked for me.

I am doing that, myself. That helps crashing when /camp in game, however this new crash after logging in, when server select is shown, is new.

It's weird it only happens sometimes, like in spurts... I'll try and log in and see this right on server select screen 5/5 times. Then wait 10 minutes, try again without restarting the comp, and can log in fine.

This worked for me!
I'll have the similar error when I log OFF that compatibility mode fixed, but at least i'll be able to log in.

This worked for me, but now I crash to desktop whenever I /camp out. Compatibility Mode was the fix to this in the past...
This patch has made things quite frustrating. :confused:

Quick update:
Compatibility Mode is off and I fixed the crashing to desktop by going to in-game options > video mode > set refresh rate 144 hz (which is my monitor's native setting).
This had reset for some reason since the patch.

Update #2:
Nevermind, the game crashed again. Attempted to /camp to character select and get a black screen / crash to desktop.
Does anyone have any advice or a fix for this?
