View Full Version : Race/Class Combos you dont see much of

In the midst of waiting for my client to arrive, I began to contemplate what my characters would be. While I tried pretty much every single race and class, there were several I didn't really explore thoroughly (I made like, 3 rangers.. and only one made it past level 9. He made it to 11), and many intriguing race/class compounds I never saw.

I recall, back in the day, seeing a Gnome Warrior decked out in all plate. At the time, I had never seen a Gnome do anything but be a caster, with a Rogue here and there.

So what kind of characters do you not see very often, if at all? Are there are unique or ''lolwtf'' characters you want to create?

I saw a Halfling Warrior (with my Half-Elf Warrior) that really got me thinking, back when Kunark had just been released and people were still exploring. He did fairly well in the Lake of Ill Omen, and though I had never really got far with a Halfling, most Hobbits were Druids, Rogues, even Clerics sometimes.. regardless, because of seeing that guy I think I might try out a Halfling Warrior as one of my first characters.

I'll stop blabbin' now... go go go go go.

I see plenty of Human monks. But Human wizards? Definitely rare. Don't see many gnome warriors either, and it's been a long time since I've seen a Erudite SK. Also have yet to see one female dwarf ANYTHING.

Erudite Pal/SK seems rare. Also, I have yet to see a Halfling war.

Erudite Paladins gotta be the rarest thing out there.
Erudite Clerics are pretty close behind, though.
I don't think i've seen a gnome rogue since unrest way back in the day.
Only Dalf Elven Warriors i've seen are Dantes and Chtulu, so thats up there too.

I have a Erudite SK as well as a female Dwarf Paladin and a female ogre warrior on this server... I just never play them.

Although many of them look like one, I have yet to encounter an actual dark elf rogue on any EQ server.

Erudite Shadowknight. Several things going against them. Hybrid penalty, one of the worst of the races for that class, bad starting location especially the shadow knight. What's the trick to getting through Erudin. I'm assuming Qeynos catacombs is the way to get through Qeynos.

I would be willing to bet the rarest characters are going to be evil human classes that are not normally evil such as Wizard, Magician, Enchanter, Cleric, Warrior. Not sure what other classes have an option to be evil.

Erudite Paladin. Erudite SK at least has high int. Erudite paladin doesn't have high wis, and has such low str that it's hard to even wear gear. But it is a rare class/race combo.

As others have mentioned, Erudite Clerics and Paladins.

Dark Elven Rogues.

And although not super rare, way fewer people here seem to play High Elven Paladins.

Back on live, 7th hammer only had myself and literally one other raiding erudite cleric. For some reason people didn't get the memo how cool they look in plate armor.

LOL, My second character on EQ ever was a Human Wizard, my third was a Human Necro. xD I've made a Human Mage too, but my only real Enchanter was a Dark Elf.

I have never played as a human, they just didn't fulfil my fantasy needs back in the day.

I think Erudites of pretty much any class is very rare.

Play a race that appeals to you. If ya a pie eater be HLF. If ya want to put a HLF in ya belly then go OGR.

Gnome Paladins later on, once they were added, were really rare. Especially female ones. I ran into one other one in my entire time on Firiona Vie. Shame too, they looked really cool in armor with the epic(s).

That said, the one thing I saw to be the 'rarest' in my EQ history, was Half Elves who were evil. Half Elf warriors and rogues both have access to Innoruuk / Bertoxxulous as a deity, but I only ever saw it done once, was a warrior who worshiped Innoruuk.

I'm trying to figure out if some of you are just being sarcastic -- or what rock you've been hiding under. Somebody said Halfling Warriors? Really? There's like 1,000 of them. They all look like wood stoves with swords.
