I am 59 paladin about to turn 60. I am excited about the new discipline but not really sure what is let's me do and it's usefulness raiding and what not. Currently I just spam holy forge if it's up. Could someone point out the benefits of sanctification? Does it allow a pally to tank certain mobs easily? Velk and kdt come to mind. Thank you in advance.

Have heard it could be useful in theory against VS, but don't know anyone who has actually Paladin tanked VS for the opportunity to apply/test Sanctification, since Warriors are always preferred and there's an abundance of them. VS does get killed in the time that disc lasts though. I've used Sanctification once or twice to avoid the initial dragon roar when charging in against Wuoshi or Sev; in the event that the main assist is feared, Paladin can snap aggro and LH until heals switch or a Warrior gets back into position.

Feel like if it worked against VS more people would use it, setting up the rune chain is the most difficult part. So in a race type situation I'd expect to see someone use that strat due to time constraints but again never seen it done.

Sanctification lasts 18 seconds, you need massive overkill to kill VS that quickly. I think it should work, but has some of the same issues with Weaponshield tanking him (which I believe also works, since he has to hit to proc). If you don't win within the disc duration you're going to start to have problems unless you can successfully transition aggro to chain them or have a Rune Chain anyway.
