Yep, DDoS'er is back. Pretty sure same person too.

Guess we'll have to ride this out until he has an orgasm and goes and finds something else to do with his time.

So far already hes ddos'd both our physical servers and even directed one primary at EQEmulator Loginserver. Seems hes not happy with the project in general. We haven't had any contact, so I couldn't tell you the reasons hes raging this time. We did fix many exploits today, maybe its because his hacks don't work anymore :(. Whatever the reason, we don't know, I guess he thinks we are mind readers and will magically figure out why hes doing it, /shrug!

Stands for "denial of service". The server is getting a ton of requests, so many that the server can't handle them all.

To launch a DDoS, as I understand it, you need to violate thousands of privately owned computers---not just the servers who are ultimately hit.

Im dead in one zone, but apparantly my corpse is in another instance of the same zone so Im unable to /corpse it. Relogged / Zopned 5 times now, crashing inbetween every attempt lol.

yeah, should be possible to stealth the ports for the IP's that flood with some nifty script + iptables ...

i just wonder how old you have to be to ddos a server people spend theyr free time on .. 11? 12? or maybe if he's older no one loves him ... wich is justified considering his actions ;)

Is there any possibility that the 1018 error could be shelved until the DDOS and other zoning problems are dealt with? Most folks I talk to are crashing at minimum 1 out of every 3 attempts at zoning now, which not only adds up to a lot of time waiting with 1018 errors, but probably puts a lot of extra strain on the login server at a time when it needs all the help it can get.

Post news and lock thread IMO, and close any threads mentioning DDoS. Sociopaths thrive on the reactions of their victims. Someone should write a DDOS FAQ, sticky it, and refer to that when you announce another DDOS when all the new people have a million questions.

If you take away all the "OMG THIS GUY IS A FAGGOT" posts, he will have less incentive to attack the server.
