I was just getting irrationally mad about the state of affairs where people think being followed in a game by a helpful gingerbread man is not completely stupid but then I remembered making a character in EQ2 and it was a fairy and it had dragonfly wings and I was like I will be that fairy with dragonfly wings and so...where was I? u can turn the luclin models off, there may even be mounts for the normal models now

people are addicted to their lifelong live friendships, i know if i didn't commit suicide out of the military back in 05 i would still be with my guildmates on live but i had a few years where i basically lost my corpse

the game is also not that bad

I'm considering investing in a dx9 erra card and a small SSD just for this game to either dual boot or run in tandem with my 5700 which is a bit buggy cuz it doesnt have full dx9 support under MS

Anyway classic and live both have different merits. I still think classic is purer.

Sadly Velious and the neckbeards aren't classic here.... so I am more interested in soloing on live and having alts on r99

There is a lot of non-classic content that was really great that I missed out on. That I can now casually approach with a few friends on my own hours, not at 3am.

AFAIK there is no way to turn off the retarded looking mercenaries and illusions that people can get/buy.

Like 95% of the upgraded models in EQ live are objectively worse than their previous versions. It's sad.

now that I am done spouting propoganda about live I am quite on the fence regarding it lol, it seems like DBG and Darkpaw don't really want to invest in fixing bugs or making the game work real well on modern hardware (just a guess) and that they are going to just milk the pay2play microtransaction model till they are shut down by the mafia cuz the government IRS isn't going to really do anything awful to them

that said, theres like maybe 1 person over there that cares and still wants to make fresh new eq lore and content that is fun and interesting to explore

Darkpaw needs to, Hire a coder. Get their engine working on both vulkan, d3d9, and dx 12. Supercede luclin models. Create an in game knowledgebase so people don't have to deep dive google/allahkhazam for the arcane secrets of the tradeskills and get the bends and cooties aids from the web, create a fresh version of the world that pits lvl 60 newbies against giant rats in qeynos with a clean slate and leather armor tunics that gives +60 ac or doesn't use the same stat systems that the old gear does, so they can start progressing players again

tbh i don't expect the 1 "possibly" american dude over there to keep the chinese code team from screwing it all up if they go for it

They can't shut down EQ 1-and 2 and launch EQ three without creating a massive outrage and losing everyone to the EMU scene for good

I still am enjoying my TLP experience, but it is definitely not a pixel heaven, not like p99 or red99 or takp are, I may forgoe playing on Aradune and just reroll on Vox for a feature complete merc saturated experience

yeah i disabled luclin models again,

a pvp tlp with selos exp rates up to luclin or god would be cool i think mercs kind were the last straw for pvp

live has pretty much acknowledged luclin models are problematic as they now have mount models for the base eq models

though some of the heroes forge stuff is cool most of it is terrible, some is pretty cool - minus the helm graphics, eq has a thing against healm graphics

I forgot how frickin cool the Luclin Underground and Shadowhaven were. Definitely cooler than freeport. And Kaladim.

I feel like they could have shrunk the size of Shadowhaven down a tiny bit by making like... all those giant buildings just a little smaller, but knowing the limitations of the engine and how people would kill guards and stuff I see why they didn't.

BTW You will crash to desktop (more classic than classic if I may say so) if you try to use loot filters in the advanced loot window, don't do it, click stuff manually, the system is not at all perfected lol. If you experience this, run through and delete all your old filters, turn of sort loot by mob type, and disable the loot filters, you can still autoloot stuff you win rolls on.

It takes some getting use to but my bags are toggled via E, char ALT E (like it is here) and E for advanced loot and it seems pretty much easier than right clicking one thousand times but is not much different.

takp, aradune, rizlona ;D, sibella, juris, and a few others are going to be going that rout on aradune

arguably takp is the better server of the 3 and Aradune and Rizlona wont be in Luclin for a month or more. I don't know if they are going to spend a full 12 weeks in classic or what (seems nuts).

A lot of people on takp havent even touched the planes, not sure if pop is officially launched or what.

Maybe one of the biggest problems with live is that there is no concise easily attainable endpoint that can be reached within a month or so. I have to give it to wow if you start a character from scratch there it will be basically finished by the first time you pug into your first end game non-heroic for the quest completes.

I actually don't mind a couple of the character models in Luclin. I like the Ogre and high elf models, for instance. Gnomes were fine too (didn't really look that much different, just better res).

Yeah absolutely. I turn them on for a bit, then off. They've stayed off a good while now.
If it had pvp I'd be all over it and then some
It sad Takp doesn't. I struggle with players being magically walled off and I find the lack of PVP really isolating. It's also frustrating when I come across some cupcakes with tunnel vision. I will probably end up back on red 1.0 after I have exhausted the lower level quests. If we don't have a red 2.0 by then. I'm taking my time and learning how to do more than just nuke stuff for once.

I actually agree that the Luclin models more closely resemble what the lore of the game dictated, but I still prefer the goofy classic Ogre/Troll models that I fell in love with in classic.

I had a similar reaction myself when first seeing the screenshots of Luclin... altho the main reason I stopped playing for a year or two at that time was more to do with my PC not being able to handle it ;).

To me the classic models are distinctly EQ while the updated Luclin models could belong to any fantasy game of the decade.

the new models aren't all that bad in art/design, they're a bit creepy maybe, especially those eyes.

but their animation is awful. every one of them looks like they've got a spine injury, and they stand like they are about to crap themselves.
