Ogres definitely min-max, but I see DE SKs tanking just fine - WAR should be no different.

Race doesn't generally hamper you from being able to handle your normal group content. Had a halfling warrior tanking for me in Najena a couple weeks after green launched, so in banded/leather, and was doing swimmingly. DE would be no different I'd imagine.

Classic old world stuff you can certainly tank it. Once the expansions come out it might get a bit harder since mobs hit harder and survive longer due to higher HP pools which means each encounter you take more damage overall, but in a group with buffs and if you have some gear you should be okay.

The bigger issues IMO for a DE warrior is their STR. Until you are able to boost your STR with gear, your weapon and a full set of plate will likely put you pretty closed to encumbered which will hamper your ability to loot stuff to vendor which in turn will lessen your ability to get cash (which is already very limited as a Warrior in general. Warriors also rely heavily on DPS to keep aggro, so lower STR will hurt you a bit there until you’re well geared.

Warrior is the least effected by not having Regen or Frontal Stun immunity compared to SK or Shaman. Also the stat aggregate isn't too harsh as a whole.

Its nice to know in a game that has so much racism that when the mechanics come down to it, race doesn't matter.

You'll do fine. My DE warrior tanks right alongside the big guys. I have over 3k HP and almost 250 STR/200 DEX when buffed in my indicolite. I handle giants and planar mobs fine, have MT'd Inny, and can tank freeti/Lguk with non-cleric healers. Gear makes a difference but even crafted will get you to the planes no sweat. FSI would be nice but as long as aggro stays controlled the occasional stun doesn't make a difference.

In no world does any serious guild care overmuch what race you are. They care what level you are, what kind of equipment/resists/click items you have, and what kind of hours you're willing to put in.

Ya I thought about it, think I'll just stay blue and try to hit my goal of 7k, don't wanna be squishy all over again lol. + I hated how my war looked in planar armor, cobalt was pretty though :p
