My TOP 7 reasons why <Black Lotus> is the WORST guild on Green (an insider's take)

Early on in my experience with <Black Lotus>, there were a few telling things that tipped me off to just what kind of guild I had gotten myself into. Over time, my worries were confirmed and I figured it’s better late than never to say something about it. I really should have said something earlier to warn others, but life got busy. But here it is. My TOP 7 reasons why <Black Lotus> is the WORST guild on Green. I’ll stop at 7 because going further just makes me blow a gasket.


Still recruiting – How you gonna flex on other people as the most elite guild if your roster is still open. Elite = exclusive = don’t let any more people in. What’s wrong with you people?
Actively group – Look, I don’t want to see your face if it isn’t a raid. I don’t care if Efreeti is open. I don’t care if about-to-be-obsolote-ykesha Lord is open. Why do you spend time/effort here? Lady Vox AWAITS! I mean, you wait for her, but ya know what I mean.
Regularly donate – Members regularly give valuable gems, old gear, quest items, tradeskills combines, etc. to other members or to be auctioned off for DKP. Why are you screwing our economy? Why are you such freaking socialists? I camped the Dino for gems, but now I can DKP auction on a diamond wedding ring? Thanks for devaluing my hard work, chumps. One shmuck offered to /random or DKP auction a Manastone at a raid if the guild would get together and raid PoO (priest of order.) Freaking idiot. How many melees could he twink in near-BIS gear in classic with 1 manastone?
Comedy – You think your constant joking is effective for a functioning guild? You think “shooting the breeze” in comms is somehow conducive to dragon slaying? I got 20 seconds to count before I recast mez on this abhorrent which will cut me stem to stern killing me in a few seconds if I don’t. By the time I count to 15 there’s some sarcastic remark or glib chatter. If I wanted the Seinfeld or Chapelle act, I know the appropriate channel. Stop interrupting my counting, fool.
Actively communicate on raids – Look dudes, I am 1,000 years old in elf years. I’ve slayed tens of thousands of dragons and got the RL tattoo on my back to prove it. If the new players don’t know which wall to hide behind, which potion to hit, which gear to wear, or whatever, they ain’t 1337 enough. See point 1.
Share about real life – I don’t want to see pictures of your BBQ. I don’t want to know the latest interesting thing you've learned. I don’t want to hear your top fantasy book recommendations. How do you have so much mindspace for things other than dragonslaying. ARE YOU EVEN COMMITTED?! Trash!
Make new people feel welcome – Stop giving gear, advice, and time to new apps/members. New recruits should go through the BOOTCAMP experience like a green beret to see if they are tough enough, resourceful enough, and knowledgeable enough to hang. Black Lotus is slaying dragons and gods every week. Fate of Norrath rests on your shoulders. You can’t have soft recruits!

My screenshots folder is filled with people complaining about Black Lotus. They're literally the most garbage guild on the entire server.

I remember a couple of weeks ago I was helping a lower level Necro farm the AM Ghoul in Lower Guk when I got a message asking for a resurrection. I swing over to Frenzied and see that the two players who camped Frenzied all night (probably 12+ hours) had died, and suddenly a player from Black Lotus named Alion shows up right behind me asking me to duo it with him and I explain to him that I can't because that would be morally wrong. I have a witness to this (the Necromancer who I was helping farm AM).

So I resurrect the two players, and I tell them straight up that I can't help them kill the Frenzied because I have my own camp and there's someone else asking for it since they saw me abandon it to go rez these two guys. I watch the conversation that takes place, and Alion says he will honor the two players who I resurrected and let them try to kill the Frenzied again, before proceeding to engage the Frenzied 30 seconds later. I'm not even sure what happened, but we all got trained (I had to gate, and almost died). I come back and the two players I rezzed were dead (they had rez sickness), and Alion was bragging about getting an FBSS.

I felt really bad for what happened, especially for the warrior who stayed up all night farming it. Well, we end up losing our camp because I spent so much time over there having to rez them again, so I end up at the Supplier camp with the same Necro when a low level Rogue named Consentus shows up asking for mask. After we give him one, he informs me that he's Alion and I inspect him and he has an FBSS. I was curious how he transferred it that fast (it had only been about 30 minutes), and he told me he already had that FBSS, and that the one he just stole was for his Ranger. -- Like I'm sorry, but you'll never be able to convince me that someone this cutthroat isn't a sociopath.

So about a month goes by, and I'm leveling an alt, when all of the sudden I realize I'm in the same group as Alion's Rogue, Consentus. Dude pulls a massive train, and uses the halfling hat to gate out, and then says he can't help pull our corpses because he has to go do something in real-life. He has no clue that I know who he is, so I type /who all Alion, and sure enough, he's not only online, he's in the same zone, but makes no offer to help drag our corpses that he helped create. So I spend the next two hours trying to Lull my way through the Maze and up the Pyramid getting my groups corpses, when lo and behold Black Lotus teleports into CT and begins to train me and everyone else in the zone repeatedly, making the CR immensely harder.

Now this is not even an isolated incident. This is like my everyday experience with Black Lotus. I could go on and on with stories about this piece of shit guild, like it's almost a daily occurrence that they do something game ruining. I've actually seen people say they should change their name to Frenzied Ghoul and talk about how this guild will literally ruin the Kunark experience by turning Sebilis into the New Guk.

We actually do care about bad apples being in the guild and have had to kick a few in the past. We will investigate, although sometimes it takes time as folks get back to me slowly while digging.

2. I mediated the dispute concerning one of our members with Potatus. It was me - Faerie - who reached out to Potatus about it and recommended he send you a message about the incident because in one of the screenshots I was sent - you stated you didn't see anyone leave the room when there was a train. I am the reason he contacted you.

3. Your story here is so wildly different than what I saw in screenshots - so different in fact that I suspected it was someone else pretending to be you until you offered up proof.

But then I realized that you probably just Instagram-Filtered your story when asked about it by Potatus - because telling an officer of your friends guild that you told a competing party, in tells "but yeah, most people would have just engaged when it was just frenzied" in a conversation where he says he can solo it but will hold off until they try again - might not make you look great to a guild your friend is the leader of.

He has no clue that I know who he is, so I type /who all Alion, and sure enough, he's not only online, he's in the same zone, but makes no offer to help drag our corpses that he helped create. So I spend the next two hours trying to Lull my way through the Maze and up the Pyramid getting my groups corpses, when lo and behold Black Lotus teleports into CT and begins to train me and everyone else in the zone repeatedly, making the CR immensely harder.

Now this is not even an isolated incident. This is like my everyday experience with Black Lotus. I could go on and on with stories about this piece of shit guild, like it's almost a daily occurrence that they do something game ruining. I've actually seen people say they should change their name to Frenzied Ghoul and talk about how this guild will literally ruin the Kunark experience by turning Sebilis into the New Guk.

Over time, my worries were confirmed and I figured it’s better late than never to say something about it. I really should have said something earlier to warn others, but life got busy. Still recruiting – How you gonna flex on other people as the most elite guild if your roster is still open. Elite = exclusive = don’t let any more people in. What’s wrong with you people?
Actively group – Look, I don’t want to see your face if it isn’t a raid. I don’t care if Efreeti is open. I don’t care if about-to-be-obsolote-ykesha Lord is open. Why do you spend time/effort here? Lady Vox AWAITS! I mean, you wait for her, but ya know what I mean.
Regularly donate – Members regularly give valuable gems, old gear, quest items, tradeskills combines, etc. to other members or to be auctioned off for DKP. Why are you screwing our economy? Why are you such freaking socialists? I camped the Dino for gems, but now I can DKP auction on a diamond wedding ring? Thanks for devaluing my hard work, chumps. I got 20 seconds to count before I recast mez on this abhorrent which will cut me stem to stern killing me in a few seconds if I don’t. By the time I count to 15 there’s some sarcastic remark or glib chatter. If I wanted the Seinfeld or Chapelle act, I know the appropriate channel. Stop interrupting my counting, fool.
Actively communicate on raids – Look dudes, I am 1,000 years old in elf years. I’ve slayed tens of thousands of dragons and got the RL tattoo on my back to prove it. If the new players don’t know which wall to hide behind, which potion to hit, which gear to wear, or whatever, they ain’t 1337 enough. See point 1.
Share about real life – I don’t want to see pictures of your BBQ. I don’t want to know the latest interesting thing you've learned. I don’t want to hear your top fantasy book recommendations. How do you have so much mindspace for things other than dragonslaying. ARE YOU EVEN COMMITTED?! Trash!
Make new people feel welcome – Stop giving gear, advice, and time to new apps/members. 1. If you have screenshots/logs of Black Lotus members being jerks - you can send them to me. You can PM me here or over discord. This goes for anyone and everyone, really. We actually do care about bad apples being in the guild and have had to kick a few in the past. We will investigate, although sometimes it takes time as folks get back to me slowly while digging.

2. I mediated the dispute concerning one of our members with Potatus. It was me - Faerie - who reached out to Potatus about it and recommended he send you a message about the incident because in one of the screenshots I was sent - you stated you didn't see anyone leave the room when there was a train. I am the reason he contacted you.

3. Your story here is so wildly different than what I saw in screenshots - so different in fact that I suspected it was someone else pretending to be you until you offered up proof.

But then I realized that you probably just Instagram-Filtered your story when asked about it by Potatus - because telling an officer of your friends guild that you told a competing party, in tells "but yeah, most people would have just engaged when it was just frenzied" in a conversation where he says he can solo it but will hold off until they try again - might not make you look great to a guild your friend is the leader of.

There's lots of other things you said too, but I understand you wouldn't have wanted to relay to Potatus things you said like - "cadderli could have gotten a chance by inviting us" and that they were "stupid for not accepting help" or that you "don't feel bad and probably won't rez them", and may have effected the situation by complaining to our member, in tells from the get-go, that they were "bossing you around all night, almost caused you to wipe several times, were super rude", and "spat at you when you offered to join them and help kill it" and "they probably will die" and are "greedy".

I hate Guk as much as the next person. I hate it. And you didn't get involved with the kill because you were friends with the groups guild leader. That's it. You even said he could duo it with your best buddy who was there. But you did paint a nasty picture of that group to a competing entity that was giving them slack and admitted yourself that most people would have just killed it if they came in and saw it up. If anything, you yourself prompted our member to ask about how long they would take (resulting in the attitude that caused the blow-up), because seconds before that you asked our member "like he knows more shit is going to spawn, right?".

And to think I purposely edited out a lot of your shit-talking about castle's group when I sent snippets to Potatus.

My screenshots folder is filled with people complaining about Black Lotus. They're literally the most garbage guild on the entire server.

I remember a couple of weeks ago I was helping a lower level Necro farm the AM Ghoul in Lower Guk when I got a message asking for a resurrection. I swing over to Frenzied and see that the two players who camped Frenzied all night (probably 12+ hours) had died, and suddenly a player from Black Lotus named Alion shows up right behind me asking me to duo it with him and I explain to him that I can't because that would be morally wrong. I have a witness to this (the Necromancer who I was helping farm AM).

So I resurrect the two players, and I tell them straight up that I can't help them kill the Frenzied because I have my own camp and there's someone else asking for it since they saw me abandon it to go rez these two guys. I watch the conversation that takes place, and Alion says he will honor the two players who I resurrected and let them try to kill the Frenzied again, before proceeding to engage the Frenzied 30 seconds later. I'm not even sure what happened, but we all got trained (I had to gate, and almost died). I come back and the two players I rezzed were dead (they had rez sickness), and Alion was bragging about getting an FBSS.

I felt really bad for what happened, especially for the warrior who stayed up all night farming it. Well, we end up losing our camp because I spent so much time over there having to rez them again, so I end up at the Supplier camp with the same Necro when a low level Rogue named Consentus shows up asking for mask. After we give him one, he informs me that he's Alion and I inspect him and he has an FBSS. I was curious how he transferred it that fast (it had only been about 30 minutes), and he told me he already had that FBSS, and that the one he just stole was for his Ranger. -- Like I'm sorry, but you'll never be able to convince me that someone this cutthroat isn't a sociopath.

So about a month goes by, and I'm leveling an alt, when all of the sudden I realize I'm in the same group as Alion's Rogue, Consentus. I don't think Alion trained them because he was the FTE. The only thing I can figure is it was a randomly generated train, like the ones I've seen at Dhamp when I'm the only person in the entire zone.

Black Lotus are good peeps, IMO one of the nicer guilds on server. Not saying they don't have bad apples(which guild doesn't have them) but BL, Castle, Venerate, Kingdom, DaP = generally community driven guilds. Which I prefer.
