View Full Version : Hey Brad
Thanks bro, thanks for the pathetic joke http://wiki.project1999.com/Rain_Caller (compare to the trivial to obtain http://wiki.project1999.com/Runed_Oak_Bow), and for the complete uselessness of Flethcing skill beyond 56 (http://wiki.project1999.com/CLASS_2_Wood_Point_Arrow). I'm so very glad you shat on Rangers very nearly as hard as you shat on Paladins (we won't talk about vanilla Shadow Knights, or Warriors, or Rogues, it wouldn't be polite.) It just wouldn't be EQ if shit-stained Necros and Chanters and all the lesser casters weren't ridiculously advantaged in every imaginable way.
Thank you.

Hey brad, don't make it bad
Take a sad game and make it better
Remember to let in into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

I remember reading about how casters have to med so they needed to compensate for that with melee who can just keep going... It just didn't pan out very well in retrospect. Necromancer pets do more damage then most Melee players and Charm pets do more damage than every player. Honestly even in Kunark, until you are in stupid gear, the Necromancer backstab pet (54 i think?) pretty much shits on everyone...and charm becomes even grosser because every high level zone is a fucking undead zone so now you have 2 classes that are broken instead of just Enchanters

The thing about raincaller is that you don&t even intend on questing it, unless you happen to be in kedge and see the golden haired mermaid up. The quest is pretty trivial after that single drop.

Not if you hunted Faeries to gear your paladin alt, hehe

Firestrike should have just been a proc.

always wondered that myself why they put 5 charges on that instead of a ranged proc

Seems pretty good for killing Gorenaire on Kunark release. Level 51's are going to have a hell of a time with those AOEs, but Rain Caller can outrange them.

Ranged procs didnt exist in classic
also 6 str 6 dex better then 1 dmg because it benefits melee

Can you MQ the mermaid hair? I got one rotting in bank.

Runed Oak Bow is also 2 delay faster. Also Runed Oak Bow is so cheap that even if you get Rain Caller as a stat item for dungeon fashion (I did) you keep the ROB bagged to swap in if you're actually trying to hurt things with arrows.
Come Kunark, the Idol of the Thorned is superior to Rain Caller as a ranged stat item when you're not shooting things and the ROB is superior when you are shooting things.
With Tolan's wrist and/or a willing Magician in group the 200 range on Rain Caller does complement the 0 range summoned arrows nicely. But when 100 range is adequate the ROB is still better, so I don't expect to bin my Ranger's ROB even once I've got a Tolan's wrist.

lol worried about 2 delay plays 20 year old game and talks about maximum damage on a ranger
Not sure if serious or dum
Only one item should exist per slot.

They knew that one day on P99 Blue, Rangers would be using these as insta-agro items that can be recharged for cheap. /duh

check the mirror, I'm sure you'll find an answer there

Dear OP,
You’re name is very close to Raev (and also knave too), but your content is *not*. This confuses me. Please stop posting.

I hunted faeries a bit trying to get redwood wands. Gave up after only getting 1. I was threatening I think then I turned in (also was kos to the gnome in akanon after murdering them in sola). Harmonied the camp and snuck behind princess for turnin. Snuck behind the gnome in akanon for turnin as well. NP!

I respect Brad more for how bad Rangers were.
Anyone who plays WoW already knows that the entire WoW DEV Team plays Mages, and thus, Mages have consistently been the most broken OP class in the entire game from day 1.

Hrmm. i dunno about that. Rogues were pretty absurd for quite awhile. I'd solo entire groups of same level players near blackrock frequently. highest single target dps in the game and incredibly strong in PvP. Vanish/sprint for getting out of ganks or finishing them off. Sap/eye gouge to troll the fuck out of people. Warlocks were really strong, too, at different periods of time early on. There was a period where if they could land fear you pretty much instantly lost the fight, and then soul-link period where they could beat just about anyone one on one who'd stay to fight them. They were pretty shitty or PvE though depending on the time periods.
The thing about mages is they were much like rogues in they were strong in PvP and PvE, but unlike rogues they required virtually zero skill to be very strong in both those areas.

Yeah, and they've also had entire expansion packs where they weren't even playable. They were so garbage during Cataclysm that the dev team literally, on record, said they gave them Legendaries so people would play them. Mist of Pandaria, Rogues were so bad, that Ghostcrawler came under heavy fire for making a blue post talking about how no one plays the class. They have had many strong moments, but have also spent about 50% of the time being completely bad. Mages have never had an expansion pack where they weren't top tier.

Raincaller is better range than Runed Oak Bow—I believe the best range in classic. With 150 range arrows, it is quite useful for pulling casters—think Turmoil Toads and Frightfingers. I also have won quite a few Ancient Cyclops FTE's' because my range is larger than flux staff. Raincaller is pretty useful all in all.

Sorry to disappoint. I do agree that Raev's a far better poster than I, even if his Raev account is newer than mine (forget who he posted as originally.)

No, what I'll probably do is take my bard, who is much more useful in groups and on a raid, and then proceed to find and kill those mobs about twice as fast as a ranger could

Splorf something was his original account. I still think him as Loraen, not Raev. Your account is older than Raev's, so I think you have OG status.
