I tried playing this server around a year ago or so and I remember not being able to play on my my main PC with Windows 7 and my setup and having to us my old computer. Is it possible to play this game/server with "up to date" computers now? Thanks!

Without knowing anything about your actual situation (provide more DETAILS and less "it dun't work, derp"), I'd recommend trying Crushev's installer (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=28335). It has an option to fix a multi-core CPU bug that has a tendency to introduce lag.
