Reds unique and current pop is bigger than RoZ x boxes/bots lol.

U guys where at best fielding 60 unique players on a good night.

CB pvp is fun. Butt it's gonna last all of two weeks then pop will dip then your server will be 30 ppl and their boxes then season will die and be over. Then you will all be back here on red.

Again. Then you'll be crying again.

Face it. Until Fadwar server. Red99 is the best pvp box. Mostly because it'll be here in some form for more than a year and if they do drop a red 2.0 they'll let ppl merge to blue.

they wouldn't be dumb enough to run that server code they'd just have to copy it and make enough changes to look like it was original -- the algorithms for hit/dmg is still in a super grey area too and if everything is perfect and almost a copy paste would be a hard day in courte would need to switch variables around and make it looook home brew and stuff

so i doubt takp is running original code/or totally accurate algorithms... tho VANILLA eq thru Gates of discord should definately be a national treasure available to all but u have to use ur SSN to log in and u can only have one character active at a time and a max 3 characters on ur entire account

One problem with takp is it has the murderised newbie zones where they messed around all the spawns for the newbie quest armour. It really nerfed how good a starting zone Misty’s Thicket was.

Imo scrabbling together cloth from goblin workers and decayed skeletons, brute forcing a set of tattered armour from wolves, camping rawhide from undead hill and orc legos was the best armour progression.

I’m such a grumpy old grognard.

They really make the progression better in late game that’s for sure. Gives a lot of treasure to collect in a more guided way. I think they were a good thing when they come out.

But if you’re on a squad and you are in a place worth going like you’re camping fungi your team can support you and get enemies into positions where your buffed NPC is able to get to them quicker than they can react.

So it depends if you got a squad of an SK and a Bard and an enchanter the enchanter can get all the kills.

But if you’re the enchanter fighting alone against geared people, sounds like a loss.

Those servers are made to cater the ones who make it and play it the most same as p99. Red was a bone thrown by big Rog but it’s over now. I would dead ass take off from other games for ages if a new p99 pvp server launched. I never got to experience pvp on old EQ. My little time on Red is awesome, my grinding feel more meaningful, and was just INTENSE. Sitting around camping some mobs hits very differently when you're /who'ing nearby zones and have half your spell bar dedicated to sudden pvp. It's fun to fight first territory, and it's nice that if someone's csmling something I was I can simply contest it. My highest highs in P99 happened on Red. My body is READY.

I miss the game. What I miss most was the sub game of how these expansions impacted the low level pvp game.

Like with the flowing thought items and extended range items how they impacted your ability to cast spells before your enemy or have enough efficiency to kill a guy before running OOM

Didn’t expect two guilds containing. Half the server pop each to be banned and disbanded and so much fuckery and bad rules to rob the server of the fragile vitality it had.

There will always be a quest. It's basically my vision of how it should be, anyone can have the proper PVP class with a bit of effort, fatty and the Kael bow/weighted axe. I don't have one I'm too lazy but in theory.

You should roll a character on RoT. It launches in January. It is going to be mainly classic.

Main differences:

2 box - Biggest difference, it is what it is, I personally can't play EQ without 2 box anymore because of how boring and slow this game is without it. I know it kills others immersion but if you are honest with yourself all the immersion with classic 1 box EQ is dead anyways. You can sit on Green with a big population and still no one is going to group with your level 30.

Instances - They are putting in 1 raid per expansion that can be repeated weekly. This is the first time they have tried it, just giving smaller guilds something to help progress. It still gives top guilds plenty of raids to fight over but throws the weaker guilds a bone.

Yeah, when I was (mainly) soloing Hatespawn (untwinked warrior) up to 60 I rarely flagged anon - I wanted to make an invitation to people to come group or pvp me - I don’t recall being pvped until after level 40 (some crazy druid delving into SolB kobolds and messing with our group - it was good sport).

I had a few instances of that. The only other pvp I remember while levelling 52+ (again SolB as I liked to hang out at bats) was MrBigs would sometimes appear to spar with me. I think he took me out a couple of times, but was never a dick about it.

So yeah little pvp, don’t recall any griefing (even though I’d often leave Hatespawn afk for hours at a time wile not anon). Honestly I wish the pvp was a little more active, but maybe my hours just didn’t overlap with the most active PVPers.

Edit: no! There was one griefing! Someone mistook me for server ‘villain’ Hateraid while very low level (like pre 20?) and troll teleported me to a location I was KoS and wouldn’t have been able to run back from anyway. I remember they were out of range of my level so I put a bounty on their head! I got my stuff back luckily to the kindness of the server.
