And was astonished to find that our guild website from 1999 is still up and running. <Noble Lions> off of the Tarew Marr server. One of the tabs listed was "Stories of the Noble Lions" Which basically is a chronicle of the members first month on the server (march 1999-april 1999) There's a couple really old screenshots of the first days of Norrath, I figured i'd share incase anyone wanted to see :)

http://noblelions.tripod.com/stories.htm (the rest of the screenshots are here if interested)

From the guild charter on the main page, it states "We believe that favors done to others will be returned some day." I still remember the day the guild leader, Emils, gifted a 10 year old me a Wurmslayer. My father tried to refuse his offer, as it was too much wealth to be given to a level 20 warrior. I remember Emils telling my dad that spreading the wealth is part of being with the guild. That we help each other. Man... I told everyone I had a Wurmslayer. I told people in real life who didn't even own a computer that I had a Wurmslayer. Felt like a rock star with that big ass thing in my hand.

Combing through this old web site, it brought me back to a lot of great memories. A lot of things were different. There was true wonder. The world was so gigantic, and more than it was expansive, it was dangerous. But it's truly hilarious how some things are exactly the same as they were 20 years ago. Such as the "Friends and Foes" Tab

"Guilds I know and think well of:
Raveging Knights : Despite the name, the people I have met have been very good. Lenah (for example).

Amber Knights : The people I have met have been good.

Guilds I'm not convinced about:
Holy Order of the Appocolypse : No real feeling for them. I have seen them around but never really talked to any of the members.

Syndicate : A very large UO guild, not obvious that the people on EQ are all that good.

Guilds I don't much like:
Tal'Morr : Not liked even though Dave joined it. Both Loric and Melikki have had bad experiences with members of this guild. This guild has not been much in evidence lately.

Dogs of War : Tend to be kill stealers. Not all bad but not very nice either. "

Calling whole guilds cheaters since March 1999. Some things never change.

Last thing, if you're a new warrior to the p99 blue server, I have a gigantic sword for you in memory of Emils :) message me

Damn is this what you remember looking at back in 99? Like, is nostalgia hitting you like a freight rain?

It was the first time I’ve even seen it! That nostalgia still hit me like a freight train though. :)

There was a number of pathing exploits in Seb that are no longer there as well.

Like....i specifically remember how if you sat along the wall of the NG camp, the mobs would path out toward the bridge going back toward the entrance, and then V-turn back at you, and if you side-stepped they would go back out to the point of the V again and re-calibrate their path to you. I used to use it all the time to solo the camp with my wiz, and stunlock nameds.

There's a lot of old-timers still playing on my old Tallon Zek server, I was surprised.

This guy https://tallonzektimes.org/bb/index.php?members/agrul.256/ - we made a guild called Human Retribution to war against all non-humans and Agrul joined with his level 45 necro it was awesome we were all lowbie humans trying to annoy some elves and Agrul would sweep in and kill everyone. That was 2001 and the guy is still on the server.

There is a beta section too. This is such a gold mine.

Everyone take note that they documented players who were like level 7. In the good old days it really took an exceptional and rare level of commitment to become a level 50 and it was epic to hit 60 once kunark came out.

Amazing

I remember my highschool buddy stealing wurmslayers from people. Before item linking was a thing and everyone put items in trade to show item stats. He'd ask random people to show him the stats in trade, and knowing that wurmslayer is a giant sized item, it would drop on the ground when trade window was closed if the person didn't have a general inventory slot open or a giant sized bag. Think he got 3-4 wurmslayers that way. He was pretty scummy really. Sold dragon scales he got from his guild for his warrior epic too and was guild kicked for it, lol.

I was in a guild called "Call of Heroes". Most of the other players were in the navy in the Pacific on an aircraft carrier or something. The leader was a fella from Kansas but I don't remember the others. They were really helpful.

lmao... it really was the wild wild west back then. It's actually something I like a little more on p99 vs EQ in 1999. You can actually trust people here. Nobody is trying to stab you in the back for personal gain (to that extent at least). Kind of like diablo 2 back in the day.

Man it was fun though

I just googled my old guilds from the glory days of 2000-2002. I was on the tribunal server and was part of three guilds:

Norrath Mystics
Eternal Heroes
Twilight Resurrection

I found some old info on the last two which was awesome! I couldn't find anything on Norrath Mystics though. They were my first guild and it was a small, casual family style guild. One of our members made T-shirts with our guild name and logo on one side and our main characters name on the other. I still have that T-shirt.

Norrath Mystics > Kaluppo Elfwood

Man does that bring back the nostalgia train.

I do miss being able to drop coins on the ground.

There was no drop confirmation either so people would ask you to open a trade window and hope you just dropped it on the floor. Guys would sit in the fire near shady swashbuckler and all the fire sprites would cause you to not click on the person. Old school game scams.

It felt a little more open world. In that sense we have a lot more GM support back then you were just screwed.

Loved all these posts of other people's guilds from live! I think we got some good information from doing so, as it looks like there should be more crocs and sand giants in oasis! haha.

If you're reading this post, google your guild from live! Show us what u find

I can't remember what my guild's name was, but I googled my character's name and all that comes up is an Amazon review I apparently wrote back in 2001 for Shadows of Luclin. It's such a trip because apparently I wrote the word "love" as "luv" which I would've thought wouldn't be in character for even 14-year-old me. I also talked about how the 10 bucks a month wasn't a big deal since who doesn't make 10 bucks an hour, but I was in high school and had never had a job. Also, for some reason Amazon has my rating as 3/5 stars even though I'm giving it a glowing review.

Actually, the name of the guild just now came back to me. No website for us, but for some reason another guild on the server had meetings and someone actually took minutes of the meeting, recording what everyone said lol and my guild was mentioned as not having beef with theirs - I guess because our guild was a created from members that left theirs.
