Couple buddies and I made some ammonium nitrate/diesel mixtures for fun back when we were college age. Lot of farm families around here so we could get the fun stuff. We were shocked at how powerful a blast you get from not a whole lot of material. Hardest part was getting it to detonate, stuff doesn't go off all that easily. Cousin, in my case. We'd drop the target circles maybe thirty or forty yards apart, and stand next to them heaving the darts nominally at the other circle although mysteriously they tended to land nearer to the other kid (gee can't imagine why). Once in awhile mom or dad would come out, tell us we weren't supposed to be throwing them AT each other, then go back inside to keep watching football or whatever they were doing. We reacted to their sage advice as you'd expect kids to, by ignoring it entirely. Nonetheless we managed to avoid braining each other. In other words its pretty much our fault (and millions like us) that those things are outlawed. Darn it all.

Cousin, in my case. We'd drop the target circles maybe thirty or forty yards apart, and stand next to them heaving the darts nominally at the other circle although mysteriously they tended to land nearer to the other kid (gee can't imagine why). Once in awhile mom or dad would come out, tell us we weren't supposed to be throwing them AT each other, then go back inside to keep watching football or whatever they were doing. Decriminalize is the only real option for us. Society isn't ready for legal, at all. Might never be. Leave it under the table where it belongs. Up to 2oz is confiscated and you are let go, some captures donated to (real) cancer patients and the rest is burned. Over 2oz faces state legal issues and possible jail time.

I can agree to disagree on this one, I really think it depends on where you school and grew up for our generation. And I dont hold anything against anyone who agrees or disagrees with this.

I would agree a percentile of people fought and died in the civil war for individual state rights. But was it the cause and reason for the civil war? I dont think you can prove that. While I think it is possible to prove otherwise because there is written declaration from states that started the civil war that it was specifically about slavery. (https://avalon.law.yale.edu/19th_century/csa_scarsec.asp) yes it was their state _right_ to have slavery, but that was the _only_ right they were fighting for. So it's actually misleading to say that it was "over state rights"... it was over slavery, but the right for a state to have its own slavery law.

Not for annoying northerner taxes or federal abortion law. It was because the country was going non slavery and these states did not want that to be the way. And so they wanted their "right" to slavery.

So its fair to say sure that some wanted maybe state rights (I'd wager those people didn't have a very high opinion of the mental capacity of free'd slaves and were balking at the idea of it, but that is totally anecdotal) but as for the cause of the civil war being over state rights, states wanted their right to slavery and nothing in the constitution would protect that, so they succeeded.

Ergo, it was over slavery. But, if you want to champion those few men that fought and died for liberty, under the direction of slave owners, go for it! But, I will agree to disagree :) Id change my mind if someone could convince me!

Absentee ballots have to be requested, which is at least one extra layer of security. The type of mail in voting being advocated for in this election has not been deployed before in a country of 360 million people. If a mail courier, who is presumably a human being, has a particular political persuasion, and knows he or she lives in a historically red or blue county or district, they can simply dump the ballots to favor their candidate. There will be no record that those ballots were not collected or counted, because they were not requested. Among a litany of other vulnerabilities, again not specific to one party or the other. They are fundamentally insecure.
