As some of you may already be aware, a fellow P99 player of ours, Officer Justin Folsome was tragically killed in a car accident.

https://policetribune.com/hero-down-maricopa-county-detention-officer-justin-folsome-killed-in-crash/

Many of you know Justin as Tumtuak, Tumstab, Stormzand and a few others. He was a great long-time P99 player and a member of Aftermath, Ghxst and most recently Freedom. He was always willing to help out, was a fantastic friend and a wonderful father to young 3 children. I spoke with an officer on the phone at Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and his family is obviously devastated right now. I mentioned the P99 community possibly doing something for his kids and he said that would be a great idea. They will deliver our gift to them.

I was thinking it would pretty sweet if our little gaming community was able to show some love to his family. That being said, I was thinking maybe we come up with some money to buy his kids a Nintendo Switch along with some games. If you are interested in donating anything at all, please reply to this thread with how much you would be willing to donate. Once I've compiled totals, I'll confirm what we're sending with the MSCO office and I'll go purchase the Switch/Games and send everyone who was interested in donating a link to the Paypal/Venmo to actually send the money. I'll make sure to update this thread with pictures of what we send them so everyone can see.

Thank you all for reading this. My heart really breaks for his family and if you were friends with Tum, please don't hesitate to share a story or two on this thread.

Thank you everyone!

UPDATE: I will post the Link to Paypal/Venmo after I have collected a total. Just trying to get an idea of budget. Thanks everyone, you are amazing.

My absolute favorite story of Tum was my Epic fight in Lake Rathetear. I had a group of players setup to help me on one of the last steps for my necro epic by killing Kazen Fecae. Tum said he would be there and he was not online when I started gathering some friends. About 2 minutes from the start of the fight he logs in and /tells me "I'm sorry! I'm on my way!" and I reply back that don't stress it, stay in WC, we got enough. Well, great dude that he was, Tum decides to get a port and to come anyway. We started the fight and to say we didn't take the fight seriously was an understatement. Our tank died immediately and we had a backup monk tanking. It's a true dumpster fire and we're definitely going to wipe. Finally, the last tank dies and everyone knows we're going to wipe. I kid you not, 10 seconds later, Tum comes flying over the hill on his Rogue and starts tanking Kazen. It was one of those gaming moments, where you literally start freaking out and laughing in real life because it was just such a crazy moment. Needless to say, in-between battle rezes and trying to get mana, our little team pulled it out with Tum tanking Kazen to the end.

A couple hours later when Kazen respawned, I had this little gem in hand. It was my greatest memory together.

FYI, this is why I originally asked people to just post an amount you'd be willing to donate, but so many people asked me for my Paypal, that I just went ahead and started sending that out instead.

That being said, you'd have to be a special level of scum to take a penny from a donation fund setup for a group of kids who just lost their father. I can't imagine...... Every penny (including a lot of my own) will be going to those kids for a switch + games + accessories. At this rate, they may be getting two switches lol. Everyone has been super generous. I'll be posting pics as soon as I get everything gathered up.

Agreed I didn't assume the OP here was stealing money from this guys family. Legitimately I think the kids would like splatoon 2 its mega fun.

But either way I wish his family the best and one day we're going to see his kid grow up and take on his fathers everquest mantle and dive into the grid of EQ and? ?? i dunno. Weird to think about my kids finding my EQ login info and you guys telling them what kinda halfling cleric I was.

Splatoon 2 is definitely happening! Thanks for the recommendation.

Also, as part of the package we send, I will be sending his kids login information for their Dad's accounts if they ever want to play. Considering how awesome this community has been with this, they would get such an incredible welcome I'm sure.

I knew Tumtuak since Prexus as we were guildies there with Unity. He was always a calm and collected person who played the game with a lot of respect especially with the tight knit monk core of Unity back in the old days.

He was well loved and will be missed. RIP old friend..

I had a hard time replying to this thread when it was first posted because Tumtuak was my closest and dearest friend and it was just too painful.

Tumtuak was one of those people who just changed your life for the better without ever meaning to or trying. He was always there with a kind word, or to help you out, or just to shoot the breeze. He was the best of us, and I miss him every single day.

<3 you Tummy

Tum was a longtime friend from Paradox, AM and was such a solid guy. He always told me about his home out in the countryside he called 'Fort Kickass'. Remembering him even as just an online buddy he was one of the good ones. My heart goes out to his fam. RIP Tum.

Just a quick update.

We are stopping donations. Thank you to everyone who participated.

The purchases have been made and the people who have donated were updated via email with further details.

Again, I'm blown away by the generous support of the community. We will be able to provide Tumtuak's kids with a great setup. I'll post pictures here when all items have arrived and we're ready to ship. Everything is arriving on or before December 31st, so expect an update around the first week of the new year.

Thank you again!

Tumtuak, Chernevog (original owner of Stormzand I believe?) and Sithr let me (a newbie and stranger to EQ in comparison) tag along with them in a semi-static group and see some of the most interesting corners of Norrath. Hell, they went out of their way to make it happen and include me, and Tum always brought an ineffable positive energy and sense of humor to the group that made him a pleasure to be around. He never got frustrated once during our (mis)adventures as we ended up going from low 30s into the 50s. This was in 2016 or 2017 and the only one of them I ended up staying in touch with Tum. The last time I spoke to him was late spring or early summer 2020 I believe. We would send each other tells about our groups or guild or whatever was going on in-game and chat about random IRL stuff. We both eventually hit 60 at our own pace and went to different guilds, where we made respective attempts to recruit each other. His attempts started before I even had a desire to join one though and he always made me feel welcome when he was around. He was distinctly warm and welcoming, sending me tells out of nowhere asking me how or what I am doing.

We never linked up outside of EQ but he indeed touched my life, definitely through times he talked to me about being a dad. I remember a conversation I had with him when I was idling at the VP medal ground spawn in Kaesora; I randomly brought up how I wanted a Suzuki sports bike, which eventually got him to coolly tell me about his current bike and how he had mostly reined in the hobby in favor of spending the money on his children. It was a conversation that made me self-conscious and a little reverent. Not that I usually mystify rearing children, and nor did he outwardly, who took the jabs a child-less bachelor would make at a father of multiple children in stride, with a grin even. His humility was admirable though and I had to respect a father's devotion to his children where it was due. He worked a lot to support them and this tragedy deprived him of his deserved reward of that work: to see them grow into adults.

I wish I had turned on logs more in the past so that I could distill his kind words from them. It was always a treat to see him and I will cherish our times together despite how brief, pixelated or textual they were; from the bottom of Guk to the top of ToFS. He will be missed by me and surely by those that knew him better, outside of the game. Seeing the responses in this thread and knowing he is in other elves' thoughts is heartening. I could tell merely through the game client he was a stand up guy; a friendly, positive and responsible man-- very good-natured and level-headed. In all our talks he never had a single negative word to say about anyone, his passing truly deserves to be grieved.

Goodbye bro. I will keep the Blood Point you gave me sharp. Thank you for the memories.

Sad I'm just seeing this. Tumtuak, Kekian, and I got beers together about a week before Tum passed. Still heartbroken but it's lovely to see how many people knew and loved him.

Thanks for this thread, it was great to read and a great reminder of what this community can be for each other. Much love to you all. <3
