All there in the title!

With a haste item like RBB, are the stats and slightly higher damage on Protector worth the increased delay?

40/40 is a vastly superior ratio to 42/49. The stats on the latter don't come remotely close to compensating for that; and those stats aren't even significantly better than +12 to all resists, anyway. The only issue is that Reaver isn't magical, so if you're leveling from scratch with it, you'll have some issues fighting ghouls and wisps and things like that. If you can keep a backup weapon in your bags, or just avoid mobs that require magic weapons, Reaver is way better. From 1-30 the difference is even bigger as the damage cap makes Argent Protector a legitimately bad weapon until 30.

Faster is better if its a lower level twink too.

Both of those weapons are very bad 1-20 and kinda meh 20-29. I suggest picking up a Sword of Mourning or Guardian's Mace or something for those levels and maybe a Jade Mace for 1-9 if you're leveling from 1.

Yea get a fast 1hs for 0-30, (good for tanking anyways) vendor train 2h and go reaver. Possibly a Narandi at 55. Done :)

Jade mace and reaver at 20 is totally fine. Don’t bother with anything else

Try telling my wife this.

After all of the damage caps are off, shouldn't AP be the better weapon (with its longer delay being a contributing factor)? Assuming you'll be root jousting anyway. Really can't go wrong with either.

As a Paly you want to be fighting a lot of undeads.
Reavers can't hurt the undead. Don't know about all of them, but it couldn't hurt Dreadlands skeletons for me.

Jade mace pretty much till you're level 30 then something else or just stick with jade mace that weapon rules.

I always thought reaver was just for pvp. Never considered it on pve because of no magic.

It’s terrific but just a bit more specific outside of raid targets. Pretty sure it works on every one (well, maybe not Trak).

Classic: 50/50, lower guk not usable but sol b no problem at all. Any guards die quick which is nice because they are easy solo kills and drop vendor loot. The Hole/ROOP is very popular these days and it won’t work on some stuff there but you will be mid 50’s around that time so a Narandi is an option (or any cheap backup).

Kunark: a real dice toss. Lots of undead. Karnors is annoying with undead and live mixed up. Seb more camp specific.

Velious: works on almost everything but goos in WL. Again, raid targets are fine. 1/1 ratio and 12sv all...very solid at any level.

Lastly not all undead require magic weapons, just most. The reaver will kill Paineel guards just fine. Go figure. It pays to have other weapons on you. A Sword of Morning is an underrated tank weapon and Sarnak Battle Shields are cheap these days. Plus it keeps 1hs maxed if you find an upgrade (Sword of Blessings, Darkmetal Falchion, etc).
