New to P99, but not new to EQ

I just started a new Gnome(Plaguebringer) Wiz on Blue, the name is Byrnard and so far I am digging it.
A few ?'s:
- My FOV seems a bit way too zoomed in at my native resolution of 1440x3440. Is that just how Gnome's see? Or is there a FOV fix that I need to apply.
- Any links to basic commands, quality of life tips n tricks, and UI skins?
- Welcomed any Wiz strat's and tips with them. :D
- Chat windows and filters? any tips there?

Anyways I'm sure I'll have more to add later.

Dont forget strafe running is faster from running from mobs. Diagonal running is fastest.

Not sure about the field of view question. The default clipping plane might be low due to the install is set for a window 98 computer. That be should turned up all the way or whatever fits best.

Wizards are slow until they get good for a caster. But casters are the best of all classes so it doesn't matter much. They get good AOE snare and AOE damage and should be decent at farming some things.

Also since you are on blue I would reccomend a good UI like DUXA ui which will fix a lot of your problems too.

Search around for info on the viewport commands.

Game does NOT play nice with UltraWide res. I'm also running 3440x1440 and I've basically just learned to lay within the constraints of the decreases vertical FOV. The UltraWide immersion is just too good for me to play with black bars on both sides of the playspace.

I don't remmeber where I got it. Search this forum there should be a link. Definitely change aspect ratio to 4x3 put your text boxes in the black spaces you can see a lot more in 4x3 mode.

If you wanted 4x3 taking the full vertical of a 3440x1440 monitor, 1920x1440. You don't necessarily have to do 4x3 either; e.g. people playing in 16x9 (2560x1440) often don't seem to notice the distortion.

You can also shift the viewport around and stuff.

Its kind of a huge pain in the ballz setting up the game is hard especially hard on serves where duxa ui is not allowed and you have to go about fixing every single window of the forced UI

Bynard, the Wizard I started is punishing to play as.
As a lv.5 Bertoxxulous Gnome, I have been slaughtered many a time by NPC's in city's and towns.
I took a journey to East Freeport, from the docks I stepped into the tavern and I get KOS'd by a random NPC in there. I think the name was Talyn.
I am afraid to leave the docks, all I want to do at this moment is to make it to the Eastern Common Lands to level up a little bit and sell some wares.

I found the tunnel system to make my way to the Western side of Freeport. However I was instantly killed by the drowned citizens down in the sewers trying to make my way through that one roundabout.

Any suggestions on where I should go? I am bound in G.Fay, every time I die I have to make the long trek back to Freeport area. Once I get my corpse, should I just ask for an invis?

Not sure how long I can take this wizard business.

why dont u just get somebody to bind u in freeport?

For the most part, all your deity does in EQ is hurt you, hence you should almost always pick agnostic if you can. a couple treks from fay to freeport you could have probably leveled up another wizard to 5, ideally one that did not pick an evil god.

IMHO, if you're going to re-roll anyway, consider a class that's more representative of what makes EQ so great: enchanter or bard for example, maybe druid or shaman. EQ is unparalleled with respect to how interesting and impactful support classes are.

Eradune: I was thinking about that, maybe starting a Bard since I've never played one. Druid would be cool too.
