If the stores want to cut down on robberies, one way is to man up and accept the fact that you might be sued for how your loss prevention employee handles a robber

I remember when I worked retail we had to sign a form saying if we did anything to prevent a robbery or chased a robber regardless of what happened (even if it went perfectly), we would be immediately terminated. Based on the levity of her video, I assume that she is doing this by mistake. Some policy experts and some economists are afraid as a result of index funds basically owning the stock market, companies are not incentived to maximize their individual profit through competition but they are incentived to maximize the collective profit in their industry and act as an oligopoly and earn economic profit. This could be happening through a number of mechanism such as increase in mergers or a general reduction of competitive intensity.



Now I’m going to sound like a conspiracy theorist but if I was an actual shady billionaire or hedge fund manager or whatever this would be a great way to make sure no one ever takes any criticism of me seriously ever again.

Like some of the things being described here are things that kind of happen (like the illusion of choice of a single corporation owning all the major “competitors” in a retail market”) but the examples are completely wrong in both what companies are listed and connected to each other, and how corporations or investors control each other.
