Kelethen being a newbie zone and a city in one is very nice.

I am not voting yet becuase I always change my mind, but im leaning towards kelethin because yeah its got a lot going on (when there are a lot of folks in the area) and its overall cool to be in a treehouse with elevators.

But Qeynos has a massive amount of stuff going for it too, the sewer, the tovax and voltan drama, the bloodsabers, corrupt guards, the clothespinners, and the townsfolk, docks and ships, apartments, area 51, quests, (that executioner quest is amazing!) That little stump wandering the docks Trumpy Irontoe ranting and raving drunk as a skunk...

Im leaning hard to Qeynos.

It was between kelethin and Rivervale for me. I selected Kelethin because slightly more amazing pvp memories there. Rivervale overall cooler, but Greater Faydark swarming with people is best game in the game.

I like all the cities except qeynos, freeport, and erudin pretty much. The Oggok is pretty sparse though.

Lets not forget the dwarf bank you literally have to crawl around in (not that you dont in river or gnomes but this game deserves a nod for that awesome immersive roleplaying ellement)

But the dwarf city also has that amazing gem mine (that should have been a befallen sized dungeon (sad face) and a cool castle, and like those cool little cave cities.

Akanon has a zoo guys.

I play a wizard as my main character, so my favorite city is the shortest run for tiny gnome legs to a merchant and the bank. Felwithe is a short run for an encumbered gnome from the Greater Fey wizard port. Simple but boring layout makes selling, banking and resupply a snap. It's like an Indy 500 pit crew for wizards.

Neriak for me, hands down. When the game first launched I made a DE Shadowknight because edgy + cool, etc. Get plopped down naked in Neriak 3rd gate with a guild note and no map, no clue what I was supposed to do. After bumping into walls and being forced to pay attention to where things were, I thought to myself "Oh. I see. It's going to be THAT kind of game."
I was hooked so hard.

I love Qeynos the best. Traveling away from Qeynos is my most cherished memory of playing all those years ago.

Neriak is hurt a bit by all the zoning. If you're a class with a guildhall in Third Gate it gets annoying real quick during the newbie period when you have to visit the trainer fairly often. Otherwise it's a well designed and interesting town.

The center of everquest was qeynos for me. That realization of zoning into qeynos hills that this world would stay here after I log off blew me away. Turning in gnoll fangs for exp. Finding out about the secret and dangerous underground. The high level multi step quests for see invis neck. Travelling by boat to unknown lands filled with fog. Nothing compares.
