I know this is a pipe dream but I have a thought experiment that I’d like an economist’s view point on. Imagine in fifty years Everquest becomes revered as one of the classic and pioneering MMO engines. P99 servers are somehow still in-tact and become immensely popular.
Adjusting for platinum and item inflation over the fifty years assuming RMT has remained officially illegal. What is the black market price for a fungi tunic is 2071?

$100
Mostly because $100 will be worth like $20 in today’s money

Eve Online has actual economist employees who carefully make sure the economy is working.
P99 has no economy. It's all based around perception and nostalgia.
There is no supply and demmand it's all about what people perceive things to be worth.
