So I've skilled up to be able to make fine plate and I'm closing in on 242 blacksmithing, which means cultural is next.
I'm getting some very mixed messages from people, some say it's not worth making at all because of the cost of enchanting the items eg jacinth, and there seems to be no one making it currently on Green.
Can i make money on this or is this a dead end? Does no one give a crap about blacksmithing? Would it make more sense to just farm dyes to dye fine plate and sell that instead?

Think I found my answer lol
VI. Cultural Armors, Weapons, and Shields!
Rumors of these items have been causing quite a stir here on the Coalition
of Tradesfolk board. The Cultural items are not profit making items for a
smith. The materials are rare and expensive and the chance of failure to
successfully craft a cultural item is high. In addition, the market for
these items is very small being restricted to only a few races per culture.
Obtaining your class specific quest armor is a cakewalk in comparison to
obtaining smithed cultural armor. The primary purpose of the cultural
smithing is to provide more cultural distinction to Everquest and enhance
the role-playing environment.

Hello, I maxed Blasksmith too.
I don't intend to make any money with it... I've done it to craft a cultural set for my gnome war.
I don't think there is a big market for it. It's way too expensive.

On blue I remember seeing a fair amount of people selling blueberry armor.. DE cultural, and the DWF/GNM cultural.
I'm not sure if that will still carry over to green. I had a human cleric that worshiped Erollisi Marr and I skilled up BS to something around 200 and made a set. It was interesting look with the rose tint.
I don't remember it being that difficult to farm everything on a 50 something cleric. Something I just thought of, is that all of the thurg armor will be heavily contested, cultural stuff maybe more popular on green, who knows..

On Blue, you don't need reagent to enchant Brellium bar.
On green you need 1 jacinth per enchant... That's 10 jacinth for the Dwarven Enchanted BP for exemple.

The dwarf armor should as it's actually really good.

Dwarf Brell Serilis armor IIRC is like some of the best armor for a dwarf paladin outside of kael/tov etc

You won't make any money on this until Velious when the gem component is removed. Just to give you an idea... A full set of High Elf cultural requires 85 blue diamonds... let that sink in for a little bit. Full dwarven would be 85 Jacinths.
I would do the dyed fine plate route for now, appeal to the fashion questers.

I looked at the timeline and November 5th 2021 (equivalent April 17, 2001 patch, 1 month into Warrens Era) is when the reagent is removed.
So basically I've smithed my way up to 242 and now unless I can land 30-40 Blue Diamonds there's little point continuing on until November at this point, well into Velious, as the Jacinth/Blue Diamond regent isn't removed until then.
So this is nice...
