So then we had this E-5 who had no idea how to do the job, and when the E-4s who were supposed to train him tried to, he would pull rank on them and then the E-4's would get pulled to the side by the higher ups and chewed out for not being able to train this guy on how to do his job. He eventually was so under-performing that they had to send him to the TOC because he couldn't do basic scout stuff like use a radio or read a map.

With women it was even crazier. Drinking in the barracks. Buncha' E-4s with Ranger tabs, sniper school, combat patches. End up over by the female medics barracks. All these women are getting promoted to E-5 and thought we must be new to the ARMY because they out-ranked us and they were genuinely puzzled and confused when they realized a lot of the guys they were talking to had been deployed twice, and had prestigious army schools under their belts, and they themselves had just finished AIT 4 months ago and had yet to be deployed.

It was hard to me to become a civilian because in the private sector your employer and co-workers do not care about you at all. In the ARMY your commander and the soldiers in your platoon are literally your family. When you're deployed or in the field, you literally spend more time with your officers and subordinates than you do your wife and kids. You end up becoming very, very close. You watch too much TV if you think otherwise.

It was hard to me to become a civilian because in the private sector your employer and co-workers do not care about you at all. In the ARMY your commander and the soldiers in your platoon are literally your family. When you're deployed or in the field, you literally spend more time with your officers and subordinates than you do your wife and kids. You end up becoming very, very close. You watch too much TV if you think otherwise.



Yeah but you also know that things are WAY different in that work place. People accept A LOT more shit from people because they know that violence can be an option one day. The local grocery store boss wont sanction a below the collar fight between workers, either. Thats why you can say whatever you want in the DOD without worrying about getting fired. They got options for the offended, outside of paperwork bullshit. Grievance reports, they call em.

I dunno if Chunk realizes, but in the USA we actually do have socialized healthcare. Medicaid and Medicare is socialized healthcare. Medicaid isn’t bad. Medicare is kinda shitty though

I personally never had a problem with the idea of completely socialized healthcare, although I’ve always found the argument of “healthcare is a human right” kind of weird. Why is it a human right? A better argument would be the same as the argument made for giving healthcare to illegals: a cost containment model. Meaning, if people don’t have healthcare to be taking care of the small things, then they let the small things become big things and then reactionary healthcare costs are typically exponentially higher than maintenance costs

The problem with universal healthcare has always been how to fund it in the USA. I’ve seen some rosy projections offered but I’m still extremely skeptical

From my experience in talking to the patients, none had anything negative to say about Medicaid. It covers literally everything from all forms of mental health treatment to cancer treatment with no co-pays

Medicare on the other hand doesn’t cover much mental health to my knowledge and for medical I’ve heard many more frustrations from patients. And Medicare for all, not Medicaid for all, is what Dems want...

There are some common problems reported by citizens of countries with completely socialized medicine, the most common I hear are long waits for some producers (talking months) and many expensive procedures such as transplants not covered

Cost containment is the most effective argument that can be made for providing healthcare to those who lack it

Who lacks healthcare in the USA? Middle class people who either can’t afford, or are not offered due to hours worked or their employer being too small, health insurance. Poor people get comp’ed free health insurance, and elderly get (not free) health insurance. And rich people can afford nice private plans. So only some of the middle class are without health insurance

And illegals. And what do illegals do? They do nothing because they have no insurance, then when their medical problem is about to kill them, they go to an ER, which cannot refuse anyone, and then they don’t pay. And this practice has BANKRUPTED ER’s in areas with lots of illegals, such as in California

So I understand WHY the argument of providing healthcare to allow maintenance of health issues would reduce instances of using ER’s as doctors offices. Finding and deporting illegals would work better, however
