What makes us different from other EQEmu servers? The first thing to mention is the professional IT background of the operators. If we're gonna do something, we do it right. We are financially independent and do not rely on donations to run the server. Unlike other Velious/Classic servers, we always give the player the freedom of choice. No matter if he wants to play strictly classic or if he prefers for example the Luclin models, it is possible. Our server is not based on another copy of PEQ. The database and the quests are unique.

That being said, it sounds like all you're offering over P99 is small QoL fixes like instances, and some custom content. If you instead went to Luclin or PoP (vs. the exact same expansion as P99), you'd offer something genuinely different, something that people can't already get.

Without that, I suspect you'll have a difficulty finding enough of a community, as I suspect few people will leave P99 and start all over on a brand new server, just to get what they already have here ... but with some unknown custom content. Stuff like instances won't exactly be a selling point when your server has less than a few hundred people: you'll need something else (like Luclin) to get to the population where instances even matter.

I love the no boxing rule. Does it have AA's from luclin at least? That might be reason enough. It does say some QoL features and newer systems stay in place...

On July 1, 2021 we will celebrate the opening of the Elder Dragons server with a big contest. In this contest you can win cash prizes worth a total of $1,000!! Like everything on this server, this contest is completely free. We try to promote group play and grow the server's player base with contests like these.

THE QUEST
There are four quest goals to achieve in the Race of Heroes:

reach the 60th level
slay one of the following Great Dragons in Antonica: Lord Nagafen or Lady Vox
slay one of the following Great Dragons in Kunark: Gorenaire or Trakanon
slay one of the following Great Dragons in Velious: Lord Yelinak or Sontalak


The winners are the first from each of the groups Caster, Priests, Melee and Hyprid, who has achieved all objectives mentioned above. There are 4 winners in total.
If the objectives are reached by several players at the same time, the following order applies:

Time at which the player defeated the Velious Dragon
Time at which the player defeated the Kunark Dragon
Time at which the player defeated the Antonica Dragon
Time at which the player reached level 60

That is not going to happen. From our point of view, Luclin has destroyed much of the original EQ spirit. Judging from how many people have already created game accounts and loaded the client, enough other players probably feel the same way.

I expect the server to get really full in the next winter. In many countries, well at least in my country, Corona is hardly an issue anymore and hopefully people will be doing something other than hanging around in front of the computer. Nevertheless, we have decided to go ahead with the release. This gives us time to fix any bugs before it gets busy.

No. There is no possibility to buy anything on our server for real values, real money, crypto or whatever. We do not need or want donations. We have no advertisements on the website or anywhere else. The server is completely free and will remain so for the years coming. It comes from EQ enthusiasts and is made for enthusiasts. That's it.

I played on P99 for years myself and made my own observations. Then I looked for a server that met my expectations, but didn't find one. For example, I don't like multiboxing, which is something that almost every other emu server has. I wanted a single box server. There was simply nothing that met my expectations, so I got together with other like-minded people and developed a server over three years.

So what are the main differences with P99?

No dogmatic sticking to the Classic specifications, but flexible interpretation if it promotes the fun of playing and does not affect the "EQ feeling".
No EXP penalties for certain classes or races.
Stats have been changed so that they have a noticeable effect, made pure melee classes less boring.
Our slogan "made for heroes" runs through the entire balancing. Those who take high risks, be it through a complex dungeon or by killing yellow and red creatures, get a much better reward. If you take it easy, you will also progress, but much more slowly.
We have the freedom to introduce new quests, have done so and will continue to do so.
You can achieve a lot of things without raids, only through intensive EXP grinding. For many things there are alternative ways to achieve them besides the raids. Many of us have families and may not be able to raid for hours without interruption. Our alternative systems don't block these players from getting cool items. They just have to put in a lot of time.
All servers are within the area of influence of the GDRP (General Data Protection Regulation) and are therefore subject to the strictest data protection regulations in the world.
We do not use DLL injection or similar techniques to spy on the player.
Our ping is also great for EU based players (and for US player ofc).
We have no, or very few, forced restrictions. For example, the player is free to choose whether he wants to play with modern Luclin models or with the proven classic models. We do not suppress the map functionality, and so on.
We have an instance system for raid zones. No guild can block the whole server. However, the instances are not free, the players have to "work" for them - to maintain the balance and to keep an advantage for the particularly good raiders.
We do not have a super complex policy, but only a few simple and clear rules.
We have every freedom to expand the server in any direction. New zones, old zones with new storylines and much more will be added over time. Always with care, so that the famous "EQ Feeling" that we all love so much is preserved.
The community will be new and fresh. We have an explicit rule against "drama queens" and will put a lot of emphasis on building a friendly community.
And last but not least, our website uses modern technology and is not from the last century ;)



That said, I fully understand anyone who would prefer to stay on P99. I had a good time there too. It just wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

One of the reasons I didn’t go to P99 Green was how long it took me to hit 60 on my characters. I just don’t see a reason to drop the friends, my guild and the investment for the same thing with a few adjectives and tweaks. Not to be harsh, but you have a clear path to fill a niche the population is looking for but instead it looks like this server is to resolve your angst to the play style and antics of P99.

I’m not really worried about whether TOV or ST is instanced. I don’t really care because I don’t see the server getting that large if it really is just like other p99 clones that died before.

Is jboots instanced in the original dungeon or do I have to camp AC?
Are their more fun items like Pre-nerf CoS and beads?
I am under the impression monks are too strong compared to warriors are you making melee even stronger since they have ‘boring’ qualities?
Will Locket of Escape be in the game but with more charges?
If there isn’t a community of teleporters are you offering teleporting items?
Without a community are you offering other means of Corpse Recovery?
Without a community are you offering NPC paid rezs (no multi boxing so no pet clerics I suspect)
Do you need to be keyed for anything or is it all open?
Are there races with exp bonuses?
If you feel melee are boring are you willing to address how boring it is to be a cleric or a mage?
Could we have monster quest (play as a monster as once introduced a while back by eq)
If melee are boring or even if they are weaker as in the case as rangers what are you doing for them (specifically archery)?
If I am charm killing a red do I get rewarded more with exp or loot?
Do you have enough guides?

I'm one of the folks that gave it a whirl yesterday.
Snot easy! The beetle type bugs in fob are aggressive and that was a deadly surprise.
In the nub area of greater fd, the mobs aren't lvl one only. Ya gota con before you whack.
It was just as fun as p99 but harder. I kind of like that.

Had a friend that created a facebook account.
Then Installed this game and created an account on Elder Dragons - same day.

He said it was weird that he was force to use a strong password on Elder Dragons over the password he chose (which was fairly strong) for the first time creating a facebook account.

But he did try a couple times to create the account on Elder Dragons with the same password he created on facebook that same day.

Then his new facebook account was hacked and posted something that was restricted material on facebook.

It could be my friends PC has a keylogger on his PC or a coincidence but just a heads up in case someone else made an account on Elder Dragon and one of their other accounts got hacked.

Haven't tried the server yet but may using a Virtual Machine and new email address to check it out.

The server was pretty good, they apparently had some DDOS attacks and it went offline a few times, they made a forum post and an in game announcement and because of that they've shut it down already.

It was quite a nice experience for a new player, a fresh server with some QOL changes.

I gave it a whirl. Thought it was odd I couldn't worship mith marr as a human cleric, and freeport wasn't an available starting city. Only saw ~ 13 people on /who all when I tried on launch day. Next day, it was 8. Kind of forgot about it until I saw this thread update.

Yea I still dont understand this, the dude said he had been building the server for 2 years and then after like seriously 2 days of being open everything is burnt to the ground.

Maybe having less than 50 people online for launch day broken him? Even then he had to realize it would take some time for the server to pick up momentum.
