View Full Version : Stupid question I'm sure. Plat

Where would you farm as an SK to generate some plat? I'm drawing blanks. I'm not super geared, but I'm also not too terrible.

Keep in mind OP, that half of that info isn't viable for shadowknights and cater more to

pet classes

If I were you, I get a duo partner (shaman) and maybe kill some ice giants.

If you want something chill and easy, try halfling guards in misty or paineel guards (if not

a erudite SK)

Good luck.

PS: An alternative to getting fat plat is to head to dungeon groups and winning rolls on big items like T Staff or fungi etc

Killing guards is always a solid choice when farming plat as an SK. Sadly halfling guards in misty thicket have been nerfed, so the best spot is now gone. If you are level 25-40 they are still a good option for xp and money simultaneously if you have the wall to yourself I would imagine. You can also kill the guards in Rivervale when you are in your 30s. Once you are around level 40 you can do the east freeport guards at the dock and in the Grub and Grog Tavern. East Freeport is nice because you can sell in the evil underground tunnels fairly quickly. You can just stay in-zone the entire time. You can do that all the way to 50.

When you get mid 40s (don't have an exact level range sadly) you can also do butcherblock guards and sell at the druid rings merchant (indifferent to everybody).

Around level 50 you should be able to do Felwithe guards, you just need to be extra careful since they do cast spells, but standard Fear Kiting worked fine for me.

55+ is where it gets harder to xp and farm at the same time, since all guards green out. Soloing Goos in Wakening Land can be pretty good coin and XP up until at least level 57.

I haven't tried Hill Giants since their spawn points were nerfed, but they may still be decent farming when you are in your upper 40s and beyond, when they don't hit as hard and can be feared easily.

You can also kill paineel skeleton guards early on in your 20s I think, but I have never done it myself, so I cannot comment too much on that.

Good races can instead do Troll guards (or Dark Elf or Ogre, but I haven't personally done those).

I'm 60 on blue with PHF and bagged epic. Some ghetto armor pieces tho, not even close to bis. No fungi.

I keep trying to find items that sell fast and worth around 3k ish that I could possibly farm.

If I were an SK trying to make money... idk, maybe there are some epic quests MQ's you can figure out how to do since youre a dpsey tank, you can prob get a crew of people you can pay to help too like fishermen do IRL

Join a raid guild and sell non no drop items with DKP :(

Be one of those people constantly forming groups for fungi king

idk I'm just trying to throw out some ideas

Heh, I just got lucky on this one :)

But the whole reason I started the Treasure/Per-Level guides in the first place is that the forums used to get tons of posts like this asking for places to get loot/XP. I thought "this is a dumb system: why have a million people ask the same question, with slight variations, a million times, and then each time get a random sampling of answers?"

So, I made the pages specifically to answer posts like these.

How is your gear? Lieutenants at Kael 4 way drop Thurg armor. It’s a slog and clearing ph’s sucks but you can also get giant helms and vendor trash

It can drop, it's just rare., including the mobs near plate house.
I know a necro who farmed 4way, setting up camp in the north path.
it's just really rare.

You can get good luck at 4 way, it is just very sporadic at times. When I killed lieutenants at 4way on my Shaman I got like 3 or 4 plate legs, 1 or 2 breastplates, and 3 or 4 leather bracers, as well as a decent amount of lesser valued pieces over the many hours I spent there. It isn't quite as consistent as I would like, but you can make decent money if you put the time into in. But I do not know if it is worth more than just grinding a consistent 200-300pp per hour at guards. I didn't do a calculation to determine how much plat I got vs. hours invested.

Geonids in CC or guards in felwithe (make sure you have at least shralok packs) will be the best for guaranteed PPH.

If you're looking for mostly pure plat, a very overlooked spot is droga. Make sure you have a ton of empty bag slots before you go, the armor there sells for 15p-30p (or more?) depending on which piece. Just as importantly, you can farm stacks of goblin skins and the salts for chardok faction which sell pretty good. Additionally, if you can grab either chief camp or SS camp, you have a chance for idol of the thorned or earring of essence for some additional pp potential.

Edit: It's a much more consistent camp that some of the other ones mentioned, you kill lots of mobs and the armor pieces and skins accumulate fairly quickly

What level are you? Yea guard FS would be best. I guess Droga as well but that’s a slog with a knight.

jolanar

If you have good weight reduction bags, farm Droga. Loot fine steel, goblin chain and skins and salts. The skins and salts sell really well to other players and the other drops will net you a few hundred an hour as well.

Biggest downside is selling if you don't have OT faction. But hammer to OT and quick sell even at half plat is still better money than trying to run to FV/Cab to sell. But you can always skip the fine steel and just focus on plat drops like Earring of Essence and the skins and salts.

Hmm. Droga is a good time. With my pet, we tend to wreck in there fairly well.

I'd highly suggest not farming raw plat and just go trio Fungi King. You should have no problems pulling it. Another idea, since you have a pet, you should also be able to easily sniped random nameds in dungeons. Learn what spawns to check for and make a habit out of dipping in near by dungeons and seeing what's up as you go about your normal EQ life. You can also park a char in SRO and check for AC in your down time for an extra plat kicker.

If you really want raw plat, I'll throw out HHK and Paineel as options, since you can sell and bank in those zones, which is very good for efficiency.

I thought the vendor assist ruined paineel farms?

Snaggles
09-08-2021, 01:45 PM
Paineel plat is really bad regardless of if the vendors assist. Compared to Droga at least.
like HK it's good as you are leveling since you get two birds with one stone (xp and plat).

Also vendor and guard faction have to be in alignment for them to assist. I'm not sure on Paineel but there are zones this isnt a thing.

IMHO, I'd make a trash farm char or a rare-item/gems camp char. I went mage for the drooling ease of kicking back with a couple drinks in Droga. Ench or sham for the harder camps that involve killing named spawns. A necro is somewhere in the middle. Plus if you level up on guards you will probably make 15-30k in plat by the time you are in the mid 50's, probably more if you kill every green holding a fine steel short sword along the way.

And please don't be "that guy" and kill every guard in HK for plat when people are trying to level there.

Where does an SK sell from droga though? LOIO? Skele form to Cab? Hammers not great, because OT vendors are all greedy. I guess you could vial to thurg then try and get a port back. For a caster (specifically a porter) I get it, but I'm not seeing how the farm session in droga doesn't just end for an SK once their bags are full.

I am a victim of this. I couldn't resist seeing someone selling a white dragon helm

so I blew my entire bank plus some beads for it :D

didn't really know where to put so I plopped it on my chanter

Loio windmill isn’t that far from droga. I’d sell it there then just hammer back to bank and run back to droga. Sow potions are ideal for this.

Or level up a 19 druid. Bind somewhere near Droga. Drop xfer, port, sell, gate. Swap a couple bags at a time if you dont want to leave 6 tinks and pray to the ISP gods.

Yet another reason why I like Trolls/Ogres, especially for melee classes. The natural high strength basically negates the need for Tink Bags. Saves you a lot of money, and drop swapping is pretty safe. Not a big deal if you lose a few Shralok Packs or Hand Made Backpacks. I have yet to buy a Tink Bag for my Shaman or SK, and they are never slowed down by vendor trash items.
