ok so i decided i was gonna log onto live for shits and giggles but having a problem. i ran everquest.exe and it spent ~15 minutes patching to live. the problem is i can't login. when i initially open everquest it goes to the station login thing. i login there and it checks for patches etc, realizes its fully patched then goes to the EULA thing. I hit accept there and it opens the everquest game window login screen, but right off the bat I get a popup that says "Connection to the server could not be reached, check website for downtime etc."
I can't figure out how to fix this, checked eqhost file and idk wut else to look at.

Did you make sure to bend over with your pants around your ankles before you tried to log in? Sony will only allow connections if you do that afaik.

Ok well since you patched EQ you are now screwed for playing P99 until you reinstall.
As far as your question:
to play P99 you had to alter your eqhost.txt file with the proper address for project 1999. You will have to switch that back to the sony info for it to connect their servers.

guys. he obv. wants to take advantage of his free month of EQ (everyone who ever played EQ has a free month now because of their horrendous screwup and losing 70 million credit card numbers..) ... as i was saying.. use his free month of EQ live in order to spam their servers with EMU promotions. fresh blood

mehehe instaban
anyway
1. uninstall
2. install in default location.
3. patch from live (it's like ~10GB on titanium)
4. install another in a different location
5. Run this pointing it to your different install location: http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=28335&highlight=DUXA
6. Uninstall default EQ in a week or two, live sux.
Bleh, why bother. I came back to EQ for the prog servers. Tried p99 when they went down. Only logged back into Sony Station to cancel. They can sit on their free playtime and spin. I have a low level mage, rogue, and pally. Have probably died 20 times between the 3 of them already. Had a 34 rogue on prog and died maybe twice. Where is the fun in that!

First off, before you decided to play on the SOE servers you should have made a copy of the P99 directory so that you could easily revert back without the reinstall etc. You could make that your new P99 folder and would just need to create a new shortcut to the executable or edit the existing one to reference the new location. I say this more for anyone else thinking of trying the live SOE servers.
Secondly, I would advise doing a fresh install for the SOE live servers. This is the best way to ensure that you haven't missed any odd files which were used for P99 access. Given the issues which you are currently having with accessing SOE live, it's better to start fresh instead of trying to troubleshoot the issue at hand. You would have been playing live by now (and realized what a waste of time that is and returned to P99).

The easiest thing you can do to play on live is just go into C:/Program Files(x86)/Sony/
You'll see an Everquest folder there, just right-click on it and choose 'rename' and change it to P99EQ or something. Then you can run the duxa installer again, and point it at this directory, it should create a shortcut for you in the same place.
Then download station launcher & let it download/patch EQ live. Now you should be able to play live & p99 at the same time. Just keep in mind, this will eat a pretty sizable chunk of your harddrive since you effectively have EQ installed twice.

You would either have to do a complete uninstall of current altered version..
or
Install a clean version on another hard drive.

eqhost file still has old login server and port?
it should be
host=eqlplogin1.everquest.com:15900
mind you, most is done via the new patcher. You can try to download and install that.
reinstall to a new folder from the disks is preferred so you don't have to wait a few hours to repatch it all.

If you patched your Project1999 game it is now broken and you cannot play on P99.
There is no easy way to switch between live and P99.
You're asking for EQ Live help on an EMU forums.
Go ask for help on the EQ Live forums.

Back to P99 or forward to EQ Live?

i don't have room on my HD to have a p99 eq and a live eq. Well then you are off to SOE for install instructions/support. Don't let the door hit you on the way out from p99 forums ;)

the best is when prince asks for PLs or ports. prince is very good at doggedly asking for assistance. askin pl for weeks when if he just went out and leveled the toon it would be 60 in like 5 days
lol prince what are you going to do when red99 comes out? going to need to beg PLs for ~4 months i suppose

You know what changes you made to be able to log into P99? Undo it. There's even a link on the home page that can help to remind you what changes you made. Alternately, you can always uninstall EQ entirely, then reinstall it, make no changes, log into live, and wait the however long it takes for all of the files to get updated. It's not all that tough, and with even the smallest amount of thought I bet you could have come up with the solution yourself.

I bet if you did some research, you could find those isos downloadable someplace. Or... again, a simple simple solution, uninstall your present incarnation EQ, then go to the Sony site, download the free trial, and instead of making a new account, log in with your old one. As many people have already mentioned, the emu folks don't support Live. if you need support for Live, you should realy ask Sony. You know the guys who support it.
I bet you are the kind of person that calls microsoft demanding assistance with your linux build.

Ask the person you got to turn on your computer for you to do it.
You need to delete everquest, download the everquest patcher, and run it.
I'm not sure 10GB is enough though.

15 minutes of patching from Titanium usually just gets the patcher installed. After you log in and patcher lights up PLAY I'd run a full scan (button on same screen).
