<Friends With Benefits> is looking to get some open WTOV raids going on green. Ideally this can become a regular thing, once or twice a month, but for now I'd like to get an initial expedition on the books and go from there.
We can vote on the loot system moving forward at that point but we'll start with what worked on blue: Pick an armor type and either BP or legs. If you are actively contributing when an item within your prespecified selection drops you can roll. You can browse the tasty rewards by looking at the "Kael" column here (https://wiki.project1999.com/Velious_Class_Armor).
The plan is to set up at west exit and pull to there. We can use FWB discord public channels for communication. We're looking to keep it lighthearted and any crabby sassypants will be belittled accordingly but anyone who can sufficiently contribute is welcome. We likely won't get started for another few weeks as I'm working on the last level of a coth bot I'm planning to park there but hoping to gauge interest in the meantime.
If you're interested please fill out the form below so we can get an idea of numbers. As of now the biggest needs appear to be pullers and dps.

In other words, get limbered up and come join some friends with benefits to play slap the dragon and we all may leave a little shinier.

What are the level requirements, if any, to:
1) Participate in these WTOV raids?
2) Participate in any "friends with benefits" sort of arrangements with members of <Friends With Benefits>?

Looking like we've got plenty of bodies, working on scheduling. If there are folks that are interested and haven't submitted the form linked above that would be helpful, specifically the availability portion.
Might as well start oiling up and putting in any last minute work on glamour muscles

Finally been waitin for some HoT pickup raids, loved them on blue.
My one suggestion is go with pick 3 loot system that was used on blue.

WTOV is not HoT (west vs. east), but we've tossed around the idea of organizing some open HoT down the road.
What is this pick 3 sorcery you speak of?

ah you right guess my brain wanted to read that differently, not used to anybody doing WTOV trash clears.
But pick 3 is each person picks 3 items they can roll on, any 3 armor drops. When that piece drops, only the people that picked that piece may roll on it. Usually only 2 of the choices may be a chest slot. If a piece drops that nobody picked it becomes open greed roll amongst all attendees.
Jimjam

Pick 3 was choose any 3 armour component drops (one of which maybe a chest OR legs). People got priority roll on what they chose. Items which were chose by anyone (leather gloves) could be rolled by anyone.
Fammaden
12-30-2021, 08:48 PM
Pick threes are usually your first two picks can be BP or legs (can do both picks for same slot if you choose) and pick three has to be a minor item not BP or leg.

The inaugural green open WTOV raid is a go -
When : This Saturday evening, January 8th, starting at 7:00PM EST
Where: If you're factioned meet at west exit, if not wait at TOV ent for COTH
Loot : Pick 3 - two of which can be BP or Legs
Voice : FWB Discord : https://fwb.quest
Try to prepark or show up early if you can so we can start right at 7 and make sure you have your loot choices submitted in the 'pick-3-submissions' channel of discord before you join the fun. I'll plan to link a spreadsheet with the picks summarized when the time comes. Everyone will be body searched for inhibitions and asked to sign a sexual harassment waiver before entry.
If there are questions about what character to bring, logistics or whatever else hit me up on discord.

You can use this WToV discord as a resource also https://discord.gg/pmc6w5Bw
There are bit over 500 players from p99 who joined specifically for WToV. Not sure how many are on green, but it is probably the best way off of the forums to gather people for that purpose.

Thanks Draconite, good to hear from you. Your wtov raids on blue were the inspiration for this effort. You are the Eddie Vedder to my Scott Stapp, if you will, and would be welcome with arms with open, if you will.
It appears we'll have plenty of bodies for this go-around but I'll plan to rattle the cages of that discord moving forward.

There's some decent spreadsheets from blue that tend to be used on pick threes rather than your discord channel approach. Its helpful especially in giving you a quick copy/paste of all the roller names for each item on the fly. Plus you can lock it down at your will to avoid people changing it after starting.
Draconite or other contacts you might have from blue might be able to get you a template.

I have been told that this has been cancelled for the evening of Jan 29 due to a few key people that live out on the Eastern seaboard being without power. Fortunately, they have candles, lotion, tissues, and the ladies undergarments section of a 1982 JCPenney's catalog to keep them warm tonight. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Bump for awareness!
If you're level 55+ and not already in a guild that's actively doing EToV (Halls of Testing) -- or even if you are, and you've stopped putting 58008 in a calculator and turning it upside-down long enough to calculate it'll be months before you earn enough DKP to bid successfully against those more frequent raiders that always have 5x more DKP than you do -- this is another great route to get some upgrades, even if you went for Thurgadin armor initially.
Your Velious faction should not be an issue, COTH will be provided. We'll get Sontalak harmonied for you if needed. If you're on CoV faction, faction hits from non-named WTOV mobs are minimal... the only faction work you would have to worry about is when you're ready to turn in any armor you win and loot -- you will need to be on giant faction of course.

Clownbaby's WTOV Raid resumes this Friday, 3/25! Starting at 8pm EST
Voice/Coordination: FWB Discord - https://fwb.quest (you don't have to talk, but it would be ideal to be able to listen) https://discord.gg/mzvKNNXT
Where: If you're non-KOS to CoV, meet at west exit. If the dragons will sodomize you on sight, wait at TOV entrance for COTH. If you need help getting through SG, you can coordinate that with others in the #wtov channel
Try to pre-park or show up early if you can so we can start right at 8pm. Make sure you have your loot choices submitted in the 'pick-3-submissions' channel of the FWB Discord before you join the fun. There's a link to a spreadsheet pinned in that channel summarizing picks that I will update periodically as picks come in. Questions can be asked in #wtov channel.
Loot Distribution:
1) You may pick 3 items for each WTOV raid. Put these in the #pick-3-submissions channel in the FWB Discord prior to the raid, also indicate the class you will be attending on so I can use that for planned attendance purposes and organizing groups.
2) Only one of your 3 can be a BP
3) Only one of your 3 can be legs
4) When an item drops, those who listed it in their Pick 3 are eligible to /random (unless they already won that item from an earlier drop on that raid.) If no one had the item on their pick 3, everyone at the raid will be eligible to /random. The number to use in /random will be set by the raid leader at the time of drop.
5) You may list the same non-BP/legs item in 2 or 3 of your slots -- you get the number of /randoms equal to the slots you have it listed for if it drops (mostly to be used for advantage on last armor piece)
6) If you already got what you need (or are just feeling generous), we encourage utilizing one or more of your slots to help others that have been participating... you will roll on their behalf if that item drops, if you win, they can loot. This must be specified beforehand in the pick-3 channel for transparency.
7) You must be participating in a positive, meaningful way during the raids (you're going to get called out if you're AFK half the raid, or bringing low level melee that are a detriment because they're getting chewed up by AE, etc.)
8) You are free to do what you want with whatever you loot, but if you are selling for MQ you cannot auction during the raid and create a distraction.

A+ do recommend this raid. Its a lot of fun good way to spend a friday night if you are raid capable and have nothing better to do, they do drinking games, etc! Great chance to get some kael faction armor without having to spend dkp!
I have had the pleasure of being the main tank for this raid for that past month or more. One thing I appreciate about this event is the fact that its a low numbers, you have a chance to shine and provide an invaluable service. To be more than just a warmbody on a 50+ man raid that most raids are on this server. If you really want a chance to be a critical piece to a puzzle other than just a buff bot or 5th tank on the list or one of 15 rogues spamming backstab on a dragon this is a great chance you shouldn't pass up!
It's also great community building, there are players from multiple guilds getting together.

2) Only one of your 3 can be a chest slot item
3) Only one of your 3 can be legs slot item
4) When an item drops, those who listed it in their Pick 3 are eligible to /random (unless they already won that item from an earlier drop on that raid.) If no one had the item on their pick 3, everyone at the raid will be eligible to /random. The number to use in /random will be set by the raid leader at the time of drop.
5) You may list the same non-BP/legs item in 2 or 3 of your slots -- you get the number of /randoms equal to the slots you have it listed for if it drops (mostly to be used for advantage on last armor piece.)
6) If you already got what you need (or are just feeling generous), we encourage utilizing one or more of your slots to help others that have been participating... you will roll on their behalf if that item drops, if you win, they can loot. This must be specified beforehand in the pick-3 channel for transparency. Only one person can roll on someone's behalf per item (i.e. Player A can pick Chain BP and Player B can pick Chain BP rolling on Player A's behalf. No more players can pick Chain BP to roll on Player A's behalf. I realize we can't enforce this completely, so please be fair and kind to each other and do not overly frustrate anyone trying to equip their character.

I regret to inform everyone that we are cancelling tonight's (4/22) WTOV open raid -- I didn't get enough clerics signed up to make tonight feasible. Stay tuned for information on the next WTOV raid!

Clownbaby's Open WTOV Raid continues this SATURDAY, 4/30! Starting at 8:00pm EDT
Voice/Coordination: FWB Discord - https://fwb.quest (you don't have to talk, but it would be ideal to be able to listen) https://discord.gg/uPqmgcyP ... follow the prompt and emote with a handshake emoji to the welcome post in the #welcome channel when you join to get permissions to the right channels.
Logistics: If you're non-KOS to CoV, meet at WTOV exit room. If the dragons will sodomize you on sight, wait at TOV entrance for COTH (someone will be logged onto Woosta no later than 7:45pm EDT for COTH.) If you need help getting through SG, you can coordinate that with others in our #wtov channel.
Try to pre-park or show up early if you can so we get buffed up and do the first pull by 8:30pm. Make sure you have your loot choices submitted in the 'wtov-pick-3-submissions' channel of the FWB Discord before you join the fun (preferably by Friday night so I can make a go/no-go call on Saturday morning based on attendance). If you arrive after we start pulling, please understand that makes things significantly more challenging and you will have to be patient for us to log over our COTH mage if you need that. If you show up and we weren't expecting you, that can throw off the group composition. There's a link to a spreadsheet pinned in that channel summarizing picks that I will update periodically as picks come in. If you are new, the same Google sheet has a tab for WTOV raid basics. Questions can be asked in #wtov channel. Melee should be at least level 55 so you are not getting too chewed up by AE. Non-melee trying to keep to at least level 55 as well but exceptions may be made based on raid needs.

I love this idea and want to be a part of it but I don't use discord at all. I raid the old way, by text alone and no voices. I show up to random raids without an invitation and get into groups and have no issues following along. I have no interest in google or discord so I avoid both. Would it be possible at all to submit my 3 loots on here and just show up and follow along in text like I always do for all other raids? I've gone to: Fear, Hate, Sky and Kael all on text alone. I feel that we emulate 1999 with the idea of EverQuest but no one but me raids the OLDE way of text alone.

The problem is that we don't always put commands/instructions in chat, and we typically run with low numbers so it's critical everyone understands what to do at any given time for the sake of the raid. We are trying to be as open and inclusive as possible, but it ends up being a pain even when someone on Discord isn't paying attention. Not to mention if I make an exception for one raider, I have to make an exception for all, and suddenly a subset of the raid is in Discord listening and the other isn't. Hopefully you can understand.

If you need help getting through SG, you can coordinate that with others in our #wtov channel. If Sontalak is up, I will log in around 7:30pm EDT to harmony people past if needed.
Try to pre-park or show up early if you can so we get buffed up and do the first pull by 8:30pm.
Where do we communicate during the raid?
Please join the #wtov voice channel. You don't have to talk, but it would be ideal to be able to listen.
What if I have other questions before the raid?
Raid-related questions can be asked in #wtov channel prior to the raid. I will also post in there (and here) if we must cancel due to lack of attendance/missing critical classes no later than the morning of the raid.
Enough with the details, what about the loot?
1) You may pick 3 items for each WTOV raid. Put these in the #pick-3-submissions channel in the FWB Discord. If you need to edit, please do not edit your original post... post a new message with what you are updating.
7) You must be participating in a positive, meaningful way during the raids (you're going to get called out if you're AFK half the raid, or bringing low level melee that are a detriment because they're getting roasted by AE, etc.)
8) You are free to do what you want with whatever you loot, but if you are selling for MQ you cannot auction during the raid and create a distraction.

- Please keep in mind that we are often using a skeleton crew for this, and every person and role is absolutely critical -- your sign-up is your commitment to attend and we are planning for you to be there on-time. We plan around 7-day targets. We cancel if there is a quake. That being said, things happen in real life -- If you sign up and will be late or end up not being able to go, please let us know in advance as well so I can shuffle groups accordingly or re-evaluate raid feasibility for everyone else.
When/where do I meet?
- If you're non-KOS to CoV: Meet at WTOV exit room at 8pm EDT.
- If the dragons will sodomize you on sight: Wait at TOV entrance for COTH (someone will be logged onto Woosta no later than 7:45pm EDT for COTH.) If you need help getting through SG, you can coordinate that with others in our #wtov channel. If Sontalak is up, I will log in around 7:30pm EDT to harmony people past if needed.
- Try to pre-park or show up early if you can so we get buffed up and do the first pull by 8:30pm.
Fair enough...
1) You may pick 3 items for each WTOV raid. Put these in the #pick-3-submissions channel in the FWB Discord. If you need to edit, please do not edit your original post... post a new message with what you are updating.

If you need help getting through SG, you can coordinate that with others in our #wtov channel. If Sontalak is up, I will log in around 7:30pm EST to harmony people past if needed.
Try to pre-park or show up early if you can so we get buffed up and do the first pull by 8:30pm EST.
Where do we communicate during the raid?
Please join the #wtov voice channel. You don't have to talk, but it would be ideal to be able to listen. Feel free to mute the music bot if you are a no-fun square like Yendor.
What if I have other questions before the raid?
Raid-related questions can be asked in #wtov channel prior to the raid. I will also post in there (and here) if we must cancel due to lack of attendance/missing critical classes no later than the morning of the raid.
Enough with the details, what about the loot?
Fair enough...
1) You may pick 3 items for each WTOV raid. Put these in the #pick-3-submissions channel in the FWB Discord. If you need to edit, please do not edit your original post... post a new message with what you are updating.

Clownbaby's Open WTOV Raid continues this FRIDAY 01/27! Starting at 8:00pm EST
PLEASE NOTE: THE MOBS WE ARE RAIDING DROP ARMOR THAT YOU TURN IN TO GIANTS
You will need to be ally with Kromzek... and non-KOS to mobs on Tormax faction (unless you have an alternate plan to circumvent bypassing those mobs) to turn in for the Kael armor.
You do not need to be aligned with any particular faction to participate in the raid -- Sontalak harmonies and COTH to the raid will be provided, but travel across SG and WW are at your own risk.
What are the level requirements?
Melee should be at least level 55 so you are not getting too chewed up by AE.
Non-melee should be at least level 55 as well but exceptions may be made based on your class and the needs of the raid.
How do I sign up?
If you haven't already, please join the Friends With Benefits (FWB) Discord (https://discord.gg/U45h6RWQ)
Follow the prompt and emote with a handshake emoji to the welcome post in the #welcome channel when you join to get permissions to the right channels.
In the #wtov-pick-3-submissions channel, the pinned message has a link to a Google sheet that has tabs for what to expect on a WTOV raid (please read if you are new) and the Pick 3 Rules (also posted below for convenience.)
Sign up instructions are in the 2nd post in #wtov-pick-3-submissions. Please sign up no later than the day prior to the raid. That morning I will make a decision whether we will be having the raid later that night based on planned attendance.
Please keep in mind that we are often using a skeleton crew for this, and every person and role is absolutely critical -- your sign-up is your commitment to attend and we are planning for you to be there on-time. We plan around 7-day targets. We cancel if there is a quake. That being said, things happen in real life -- If you sign up and will be late or end up not being able to go, please let us know in advance as well so I can shuffle groups accordingly or re-evaluate raid feasibility for everyone else.

If the dragons will VIOLENTLY SODOMIZE you on sight: Wait at TOV entrance for COTH (someone will be logged onto Woosta no later than 7:45pm EDT for COTH.) If you need help getting through SG, you can coordinate that with others in our #wtov channel. If Sontalak is up, I will log in around 7:30pm EDT to harmony people past if needed.
Try to pre-park or show up early if you can so we get buffed up and do the first pull by 8:30pm EDT.

Clownbaby's Open WTOV Raid continues this FRIDAY 05/19! Starting at 8:00pm EDT
If you haven't already, please join the Friends With Benefits (FWB) Discord (https://discord.gg/fHfvRWDs)

If you're non-KOS to CoV: Meet at WTOV exit room no later than 8pm EDT.

Open WTOV for FRIDAY 09/29 has been cancelled due to low numbers! I apologize for the cancellation, but I don't want to waste anyone's time traveling out to TOV for nothing! We'll try again soon!

I would suggest posting some of this information on the /r/project1999 reddit as well to get more interest. I have always wanted to do this raid but sadly I'm not high enough level(level 52 cleric). I am a very casual player who can only play a few hours a week tops but eventually I would love to be part of something like this.

We had a few threads on Reddit going:

"Non-melee should be at least level 55 as well but exceptions may be made based on your class and the needs of the raid."
You can cast Complete Heal, we would make an exception for a 52+ cleric.

Clownbaby's Open WTOV Raid continues this FRIDAY 10/06! Starting at 8:00pm EDT
If you haven't already, please join the Friends With Benefits (FWB) Discord (https://discord.gg/BWqtTgWn)
