Hi I like documentaries and I guess quasi-docs and docuseries, up to and including insane sweaty youtube six hour rants. Please suggest some. Pretty much any subject.
Here are some I have watched and reccomend
Bring Your Own Brigade
Ascension
Workingman's Death
Nanking
The Act of Killing
Tickled
The Writer With No Hands
HyperNormalisation
The Biggest Little Farm
Taming the Garden

lol!I see myself as more on the "anarchy" side of anarcho-communism, if I have to choose I guess... I don't care much for getting tripped up over distinctions unless it's somehow immediately relevant
Anyways watch more Adam Curtis stuff, Bitter Lake and Can't Get You Out of My Head come to mind and I know there's a lot of good older ones if you ain't seen those yet
And yes, Girls Gone Wild is absolutely a documentary series

Oh shit, I remember that game Thief
Thief: The Dark Project (Thief 1)
Thief: The Metal Age (Thief 2)
Windows PC
Both are fully recommended.
Thief 1 was more like EQ, more fantasy. Thief 2 focused more of thieving with less fantasy. Best used with headphones.
Thief: Deadly Shadows (Thief 3)
Windows, Xbox
Play this one if you really like Thief.
1st & 3rd person Thief. /shrug. A downgrade from the original classics, you can't even swim underwater. I judge all (Windows, Desktop PC) games by original Everquest, if you can't swim underwater you get downgraded. Visually more impressive than the original Thief games (from a certain point of view).
Thi4f (Thief 4 a.k.a Teef)
Windows, Xbox, PS4
Consolitus Thief. Visual cue system in replacement of sound. The weakest of the games overall but maybe the most visually impressive (from a certain point of view).
Note: The Vista/X360 standards were in effect and so was STEAM. There have been no mention of a new Thief game since #4 and probably never will be.
I think hardware shapes games. The original Thief games were released for Windows (no multiplatforms) and focused on sound as a core part of their design. During this time a few different companies were producing sound cards and experimenting with 3D audio, for example Creative and Aureal.
Sound was still used for Thief 3, that released for PC and Xbox. Televisions don't typically have people using headphones so the visual cues were switched to. IMO it's a much dumber experience. 3D audio placement was in EQ back in era, it was awareness when you had the spell book open.

Don't forget Ultima Underworld 1&2.
Some of the Looking Glass crew made the original Deus Ex, it was
Warren Spectors answer to Thief, he self admits that he sucked
playing stealth games so he made one that you have options in.
This would inspire game designs that have "elements" of all
genres but are not great at any of them. Exceptions are cool
but not when they become the standards.

Note: Distance matters. If you are sitting at a desk or 10 feet away sitting on a
couch in the living room. For the most part, the Vista/X360 push (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Games_for_Windows) by Microsoft would
eventually lead to the end of computer designs in favor of the living room, ultimately
this is to take over everything from the computer to the TV to the mobile device and
replace it with the Azure Cloud (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Azure).
Azure, announced at Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference (PDC) in October 2008, went by the internal project codename
"Project Red Dog", and formally released in February 2010, as Windows Azure before being renamed to Microsoft Azure on March 25, 2014.
Microsoft should spin out its Windows and Office franchises (https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/11/microsoft-should-sell-office-and-windows-to-boost-cloud-former-exec.html) to boost its growing cloud-computing business, former executive Ben Slivka told CNBC in an interview.
“The right thing probably is to bet the future on the cloud,” said Slivka, onetime general manager of Microsoft’s consumer and commerce group.

Morrowind was probably the best game ever made and it still needed community hacks and patches to get it into a playable state.
The gaming industry has been kinda a scam for ages. I don't see it changing anytime soon.

I picked up Oblivion when I switched to a widescreen 1080p Westinghouse (https://hardforum.com/threads/got-my-westinghouse-lvm-37w3-37-1080p-display-today.1088497/page-103#post-1031089967) back in 2007.
I mark widescreen as a decline in computer gaming.

Bigfoot was interesting. It’s on Hulu.
Thief 1 and 2 were groundbreaking. Thief 3 was mediocre

This is a thought exorsize because everyone seems to remember how great ken burns was.
Describe the decade where you first heard about his documentaries. Like, what was life like then in america? Just a few sentences to describe pop culture, and what life seemed like for you.
Then describe the last 6 years and the next 4, and what you think life is like for americans and what it will be like.
Im just curious what the two periods look like side by side.

We were tired of the middle east, bush was gone and obama was president now. Things seem like they're looking up. Mostly we talk about the tech boom and these new awesome internet 2.0 thing that is happening. Hope and change!
Today every day someone, me or someone on the news, brings up civil war or the apocolaypse. I feel like world travel is far less safe not just because of the turbulance out there and covid but because death to america is something I hear grocery shopping in america now. Everyone seems on edge.

One thing I really hated in classic was that stupid book staring feature. That book staring idea was so retarded, even Verant never brought it back for a reason once removed... stare at the book like an idiot.
*16:9 widescreens assure this will not happen.
Maybe the new 3:2 aspect ratio computer monitors (https://youtu.be/DPttbRBOgdA?t=211) will be able to bring back the computer aesthetic. A 4K square(ish).

*Note: This is not an endorsement for a brand, only looking at the aspect ratio.
Still prefer the height of 5:4 (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3400976&postcount=2) and 4:3.

Louis Theroux's Forbidden America episode 1 is pretty interesting. I had heard of Baked Alaska and Nick Fuentes, but never seen them talk. Fuentes especially is pretty repulsive, but he's young. It's pretty sad to see. It was pretty nice to see this Beardson Beardly guy just instantly fall apart, though.
It makes me wonder if Louis has watched any of Andrew Callaghan's work, since there's some parallels in terms of the characters they are engaging.

Book staring in EQ was a fundamental balancing feature. Melees were worse in every way except they didn’t have to stare at books. It adds to their more situationally aware nature that they don’t have to have a book open to get mana back faster.
Removing it removed significant class balance. You should be blind to the outside world besides your text box while you’re medding. Sorry.
