I miss my Iks monk.. settled on a human this time around.. but it's tempting to just wait for Kunark and make a shaman til then (barb or troll, depending on how KOS I wanna be and how much EXP penalty I'm willing to deal with)

thoughts? at high lvl lets say 40+ (I know thats not super high but still..) how big is the difference?

Check http://forums.monkly-business.net/index.php?pageid=abilities for difference in fist damage and natural regen.

I seem to remember Iksar getting an AC bonus of around 40ac.

Iksar are hated everywhere but Cabilis.

Hope that helps.

thx, very helpful.. I guess I'll keep workin on my human for now and switch over to Iks when the time comes...

I don't mind being KOS everywhere... Kunark has zones for all levels!

I leveled 2 monks to 60, an iksar and a human. Got both their epics.

Human was FAR easier.

cool man, thanks. What factors made it easier? just being KOS as Iks? exp penalty still exist when you leveled them?

if i remember correctly, iksar had higher regen rates while human had slightly better hand to hand dmg/delay ratio.

By far the #1 issue with Iksar (for me) was faction. Made for the best memories and challenges...

...but was a VERY definite challenge. You can bank in Cabilis and Runnyeye...

Boats, guards, ports, ... even the *evil* outpost in Overthere hated you...

I went Iksar, never regretted the decision, either.

I'm playing a human monk now, and I will definitely be making an Iksar monk when the time comes.

When I chose Iksar I did it for the (feign) death animation!

I had no idea about AC / Regen / Fist damage differences when I rolled him up. I didn't find out about all that crap until a short while afterwords when I decided monk was gonna be the class for me.

Now that I do know - I'm still all about the Court of Pain!

the big difference? 44% exp exp penalty ....

I would say iksar monk is way better, as noted before:

The only downside would be faction, but faction isn't important while grouping. Everyone who can port can also make you invisible. necro's, orges, trolls and darkelves all have to live with being Kos and they can manage too :)

I played an Iksar monk and didn't find it too hard to level him as there are some very nice 1hb monk weapons with kunark. Being hated everywhere wasn't a major problem either, I killed the guards at the toll booth in WC and ended up being loved by the guards in North freeport where I could go to through the secret tunnel and bank and could sell to any vendor using sneak.

iksar is best. i had alot more fun leveling an iksar up untwinked on live because of the surrounding areas and all the spider silks in the newbie zone ^___^ the regen and ac also makes leveling alot easier, turning soloing from okay to easy.

some of my best memories on live eq. but when i leveled crunchy i enjoyed it, just didnt seem as flavorful as running around as an iksar. dark elf female monk is so much cooler than iksar female, tho ;) WTB RACE CHANGE AT KUNARK PLZ

I guess I'll just level my monk and collect items. then remake to iksar when Kunark comes out. I really wanna be Iksar...

I'll collect quest items too and just not turn them in... haha

I find Iksar superior in every way that matters, which doesn't explain why long after Kunark I was maining a Human Monk instead... especially since faction was certainly near-worthless at that point.

Personally I wouldn't play Human Monk only to remake just months later. Either play something to fund your eventual Iksar, or stick with Human.

I just figured the best thing to fund my iks monk is a human monk...

I'm not a hardcore player, getting through the first 10 levels again would take me a few days at least. I figured the higher lvl you are the more money you make (drops, etc.) so why start a new char when I can just lvl my monk?

plus when Iks comes out i'll have monk gear and quest gear already.

I guess my alternative is to make a bar shaman... always wanted one.. just don't love the idea of starting @ lvl one and falling behind my guild, etc.
