Hey guys, i've looked around and most of the threads are really old Human monk solo guides. Well since Iksars have come about, that leaves about 50% of the guide wrong or misleading.

Any super knowledgeable Iksar Monks out there that have the primo solo guide for Iksar Monks? Doesnt have to be only Kunark spots.

My guide would start out as so:

1-9: Field of Bone - slowly move towards the big skeleton in the middle
9-16: Kurn's Tower - Solo random DB's and Whites, stay away from yellows unless you are buffed.
...??

any help? Thanks guys!

I had to change it because it was too long :( i wish i could have kept it the same i had to shortern words and kinda summarize some things to make it under 500 characters :(

edit: there we go added the quotes fuction, so at least he gets his due credit.

Uaellaen just msg'd me saying "what about clerics, i feel left out :(" lol i wonder why he left that out?

-------------------

anyways, any guide help? i did use the search function and i didnt find anything. i found some other threads using google but like i said they were pre kunark, and both of them linked back to the same verryy horribly written guide, with some kunark spots. Helps, but i'm striving for something better.

Kurn's isn't that great until about 12 unless you're a pretty massive twink. Scalebones are your primary target, and those are actually rather uncommon, even at the entrance. Until then, it's best to find slightly easier places - FOB is fine. I actually took a detour and built up my qeynos faction until 12 (Gnoll Teeth, mass murder of gnolls for Ashen Order faction), then went back to Cabilis to do Kurns.

I figure i'll stick around at Kurn's for some time. The xp has only increased over time, and I'm 16 now...

Not sure where i'll go after 20 or so. I might just try any of the dungeons I can think of - Unrest, Sol A, upper guk, etc and just play around until I find one that works.

I could just live on kunark through 60, though.

Yeah I was thinkin about Unrest, my only problem with Unrest is just that its a faarrr run home for my skills :P After FD and eagle strike (L20), it might not matter as much to stay gone til like 25 (Dragon Punch) or 27 (Disarm) or so.

Don't bother going back for Disarm ;P

Here's what I did with my monk. He had some decent gear and a Wu's Quivering from about lvl 10. So, comparable gear could likely do the same thing solo.

1-9: Field of Bone - slowly move towards the big skeleton in the middle and even the burnyai (sp?) at the end closer to Kurn's.
12-19: Kurn's Tower - Solo random DB's and Whites, stay away from yellows unless you are buffed. Move to upper floors as needed. Might want to stay away from basement without a group due to the casters.
20-29: Warlsiks Wood giant fort just outside of cab west. Great for xp (much better than LOIO imo). Also, you can make some decent cash as a monk there cause a vendor is close.
29-33: Warslik Wood Skulking Brutes just outside of Dalnir entrance. Amazing xp and they go down super easy.
33-38/39: Frontier Mountain giant fort.
38/39-40?: Overthere. Lots of ppl in The Overthere. Easy to find a group. Good xp and a chance at a Sarnak Earring of Station from the sarnaks there. And you can build up some faction with overthere for the hammer if you have some weight reduc bags. (oh yeah, and you can solo stuff pretty easily there).
40?-50?: CoM. Nice monk gear, always groups. Easy pulls at front areas, and can likely solo front area i think. Outside zone so jboots will work if you got em.

Might be a better route. But that will pretty much keep you in Kunark the whole time and pretty close to cab if you need to bank.

This is helpful - I appreciate it. On live, there's a huge blank in my memory of where I leveled between 30-45.

But Lower Guk/Sol B are excellent solo spots mid-late 40s through 60. But yeah, as Spacebar mentioned, stay away from most casters. Shaman mobs slow/poison or heal themselves, and wizard mobs usually have a DS (pumice = your friend) or nuke really hard, and you have no reliable interruption...and I think the original developers placed very few magician/necro mobs in game because they are so freaking annoying to deal with, esp as a melee...

After 50, monks cant really solo efficiently anymore right?

What would you call good gear? Fungi/Tstaff and drops or VP/Epic/Dragons sort of gear?

On live, I had pretty average gear for a 50+ monk and soloed fine (I didn't get a Tstaff or Fungi till 60). It's more a matter of location.

Sol B and Lower Guk are probably your main choices; the 40+ mobs there have far less hp and don't hit nearly as hard as kunark mobs. There are some scattered 40+ mobs in other old world zones which are actually decent soloing for a monk, but you'll have to find those yourself ;)

I read this and tried some LGuk live side solo. Minotaurs and frogs, with the intent on making my way to the Raster camp as I learned how to do it. Big mistake. When the mob got low it ran, and did so as fast as I could also run, which lead to trains galore. Tried it like 3 times before giving up.

Maybe this was viable before they fixed/nerfed mobs running at low health, but I would say not anymore.

Maybe I got used to the yeti caves being so easy, but this was near impossible at lvl 47.

Soloing Raster is pretty tough even at 50 for me. I have and IFS, FBSS, and just some random monk gear but it's still pretty hard.

I also got to level 25 in Oasis just poor man power leveling some friends and strangers. After that I did Mistmoore for 2 or 3 levels and then hit the giant fort in FM. I stayed there til 38 and then went to the north side of the castle to KC til 50.

Where do I go at level 50? My brother gave me his 50 monk, I don't feel comfortable playing in a group because they make me pull and i'm not familiar with the dungeons/class

he's using 2x Whitened treant fist and haste belt, RoLC etc

anyone to solo easily for 50 monk?

1 - 9 EC tunnel
9 - 15 Oasis
15 - 22 Unrest
22 - 30 Mistmoore
30 - 40 Guards in High keep (best xp zone in the game)
40 - 60 Sol b

imo

I solo'd Raster camp at 43 and 44 with fungi, FBSS and a Peacebringer. I can imagine it would be tough without a fungi but still doable after you manage to split the room.

Go for Armor Class First, STA/STR Second, AGI and DEX last with your gear. I am level 45 with about 940ac and I barely ever get hit.

Do you pay any attention to your weight limit? I played a monk once and did my best to stay very light, but it meant no idol of the thorned, a bunch of slots with like 3-ac pieces because nothing else was very light for the slot, etc. Often wondered if saying "screw weight" and loading up on nice pieces would have worked out better for me.

At 47 or 48 untwinked I killed raster with about 10% health left, after using mend

This, very easy camp & the xp flows. Can do guards while waiting for respawn for a little extra coin too.

Did you FD/sneak behind him and give him a Mino horn before the fight? That is supposed to drastically reduce his damage from what I have read.

I have found weight does not make too much difference until like level 45 on a Monk. I mean you can't weigh 150 stone but. The better AC items helps with the AC you loose with the extra weight. But you are still ahead till 45ish from my experiences. AC is sort of bonkers on here.

This mechanic doesn't work on P99.

OK well I know i gave him a mini horn and he didn't seem tough at all. Maybe it didn't have any effect tho.
