Hello all,
I have been playing on this server off and on for the last year or so, and just recently came back from a couple month break to tool around in Kunark. However, I find myself to be perpetually broke. I was never a huge EQguru back in the day, so I find myself at a loss as to where to start again. I am reaching out to you, the wonderfully helpful community.
I have a 44 Mage and a 45 Druid, and a number of other alts in their teens. I would like to begin to collect some funds again so I do not need to keep shifting the same gear between characters. I prefer to solo, as work/school/girlfriend occupy the majority of my time.
So yeah, based on the characters I've got, any tips on how to pick up some coin?

You could probably do OK quadding specs with the druid.
Mage can do HG's well.
Im not familiar enough with the state of mages now to say whether you could do giants/seafuries at 44.
Guards aren't terrible money, either. Dock Dwarves, trolls/ogres, FP guards depending on race/factions

Take either the Magician or Druid and level on spectres.
Take the magician and go farm halfling guards or High Keep guards, and sell the things they drop.
In short, most of the money you'll make will come from hunting the right mobs. You could also speed-level to 49 somewhere then go to seafuries on your mage and just sit on top of the spawn points of some of the seafuries and you'll do okay.

You can take your mage or druid to the Hill Giants in Rathe Mountains. They drop between 5-40pp + sometimes gems and weps that sell for decent.
Later, hit up seafuries for the epic gem loots.
Aside from that. You can take your druid to EC/anywhere in kunark and make that crazy porting cash. The Overthere is a nice place to pick people up from what i've seen.

Well, the reason why both characters stalled out at about 45 was because all of the experience spots that I knew of became perpetually camped as the server population increased.
Perhaps that is another good question I should ask: where are some good soloing spots for a druid and/or mage in Kunark? I'm sure getting my ass passed these damned levels will go a long way.

either character is at a good level to do the DL mobs near KC. Money won't be great though.

Depends. If you are on during offpeak times, soloing at HG's in Rathe wouldn't be bad. I went from 45-50 there just farming cash and waiting for kunark.
Aside from that, The Overthere or maybe Dreadlands? My monk is leveling at 43 in The Overthere and stuff is mostly DB to me. I always see druids there quadding.

There are more places now. The old world xp spots tend to be a lot less crowded these days since DL is big enough to support like 10 soloers.
One good method of generating cash is to lvl 49-52 somewhere (Seafuries has the benefit of letting you generate cash at the same time, LOIO bloodgills are probably faster) then selling sacrificies at 400-500p a pop till you're lvl 49 again and then repeating. If you're good at the furies you can essentially turn the normal 500-800p/hr you get from just drops into 1-2k an hour if you factor in every 10% xp as being worth 500p.

Make a female halfling druid with a cutesy name and hint about how you're a RL female with high level characters and/or GM's.
Optionally, get a voice processing program to make you sound like a chick, and get on voice chat programs.
Optionally, take a bunch of pictures of your little sister and/or niece, or just go find a bunch of pictures of one chick online and create a forum persona who seems to bumble when talking about technical stuff, and ask for help with your computer a lot.

Should I tell people it's my 21st birthday every year so people will donate to my paypal account in order to get into my virtual pants with virtual booze?

Go to Paineel and kill guards they drop 1-2 plat plus a weapon and sheild, you can sell to them and bank all in the same place. The mage would work the best. You can make around 500-1k/hour depending on how many in the rotation you can kill

500-1K might have been possible before they changed the respawn rate, but it's 28 minutes now. You could maybe get 500pp/hour at the absolute maximum if you killed every single guard. You also cannot get a key unless you con amiable to the guards. Just something to keep in mind if he plans to head all the way out there.
There are more lucrative camps for those who can solo well.

1. level up to 55+
2. join crypt group
3. plays for weeks straight till you win a hero cloak
4. sell it for 75k
edit: do this on your mage, druid can't get groups

Take your mage to city of mist... Exp is great and at 45 you should be able to solo stables. Gems plus weapons( in the 200-1k range)drop randomly and there is hardly over 10-15 people there.
