Official EQ TLP Locked Velious Server

This is a forum post with the idea of EverQuest releasing a Velious locked TLP server. Getting a gauge of interest and waiting my official EQ forum post to be approved. Once it’s up, I’ll post it here for people to leave their thoughts to Daybreak.

I have played on Project 1999 for years and feel like a lot of players will come back to the original EQ with a Velious locked server due to the QoL enhancements that the P99 server lacks. I’ve also played on Mangler, but fell behind quick due to expansions lvl increases etc. A lot of players I feel run into this issue and end up cancelling their membership because they can’t find the time to grind.

Customer service is reliable via Daybreak compared to P99 that’s run independently. Make it a true box TLP server (2 total) that locks at Velious and people won’t worry about grinding constantly with the release of new expansions. Bring back old items (manastone, guise, etc) for a limited time and follow the original timeline up to Velious.

The biggest reasons for this: QoL, customer support, max Lvl 60, original timeline, etc. It allows people who played the game back in the day and currently to explore everything the original game, Kunark, and Velious have to offer, without the worries of grinding exp gear and content.

Per EverQuest’s official Twitter, they stated to post on the official EQ forums to see how much interest there is. Please leave your thoughts comments and let them know you want this. If it happens, I would join and pay for a membership again in a heartbeat.

I'm poor af and part of P99's appeal is that it is free. If this server you propose was the same I would consider playing there.

My thoughts exactly. They (the Corporation) had a chance to make a game, they decided to make a cash pumping machine instead. I left and will not be returning to offer them my wallet again.

P99 is just fine, Thank you.

Even if P99 didn't exist, I'm not sure I'd play there. It's still not classic at all.

Agnarr was supposed to be the perfect server for me, a PoP locked TLP. I was dreaming of something like that, and for it to be hosted officially to boot. The zone overhauls, the graphics of all sort, the UI, just too much to list killed that dream of mine and I couldnt get past the stuff. Now that server population wise is near dead and the dream is gone. Im dreaming that one day Luclin at least is released on Blue.

-Old Freeport/Nektulos/Commons/Steamfont etc
-Locked at Velious
-The new tradeskill UI (seriously my wrists hurt doing them here)
-Agents of Change, so people can't get locked out of content by others in the community
-Strict no-boxing rule
-Krono? what's that? no such thing doesn't exist
-Free to play

...would be the absolute perfect server in my eyes.

wouldnt be the same as here on p99. as live will have kronos. hand to hand damage ratios are changed. pet damage is changed. best your gonna get is the PoP locked server in agnarr. and i dunno if thats even doing ok.

Doesn't matter, because the EQ CLient has a lot of changes -- including visual changes that would be impossible to reverse without releasing a seperate client. The game looks and plays completely different on TLP compared to p99. I think most people here prefer the old-school(ish) look and feel, no matter where the server is time-locked.

I tried live, saw the horror that Freeport has become, and the merging of SRo/Oasis/NRo into one zone... and that was it for me. The live servers will never achieve that classic feel again. Maybe fun for other reasons, but it's hard to want to get into such an old game when the nostalgia has been ruined.

Daybreak needs a classic TLP Velious locked server where you can recharge items for real life currency and you can pay for a GM to answer your petitions.
