There are many "features" of live server that are actually considered "fixes". Hence why you left full hp/mana in game on ding, considering you only ding 60 times in a lifetime, it's worth the reward. The cool swirl particles when you level up. Tell queues while zoning. The interface being used. How when you root, dots do more damage, and handing back items to you if you accidentally gave it to a npc and didn't finish everything. Even giving the users the option of the luclin textures (well, more so not preventing the use of it)
That said, there are a few minor issues that are "fixes" that should be implemented (fixes as opposed to features):
* Root should not override snare. This can also lead to foul gameplay .. someone roots the mob so snare breaks, etc. You shouldnt have to choose.
* Spirit of Scale , you should be grouped to cast it so you dont cancel sows.
* Spirit of cheetah should stack with other movement buffs. After you use cheetah, you are left with nothing
* You should be given the OPTION to use the new spell gfx -- you can use textures, why not gfx? Doesn't effect anyone but the user's preference. Disabling this is like forcing us to use an exact UI layout - it only effects us.
* Same as above, but for upgraded character models. Doesn't effect anyone else, so why not? Some people want the p99 gameplay with the updated graphics so it doesn't hurt your eyes on a massive resolution
* Pets and no rent items should remain 30 minutes while not in the game - this is terrible when you simply go linkdead because of a bad connection and you lose the item you've spent hours and hours obtaining. This is supposed to be fun, not lose all your work from a d/c.
* It should only give items back to you if it's not for the right quest. No multiquesting? That was a huge part of classic eq (and even live servers to this date)
There may be related items -- this is all i can think of right now. Hotfix these and you will see happy people.

First of all some of those things don't even happen, other things are related to client changes, some are just common sense, and some have no relation to anything that the administrators of this server can even control.
That said, there are a few minor issues that are "fixes" that should be implemented (fixes as opposed to features):
Making blind demands is kinda laffo and really sets the tone for even reading this post.
* Root should not override snare. This can also lead to foul gameplay .. someone roots the mob so snare breaks, etc. You shouldnt have to choose.
This is following the timeline of the server. Root and Snare functioned this way from Classic to Velious. Look it up in the patch notes available here:
http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20010109.html
JANUARY 9, 2001
Root-type spells and 'snare' type spells now use a separate spell effect.
Previously, 'Root' spells would overwrite any snare effect upon the target. When the root would wear off, the target began moving at full speed. With this change, when root wears off, snare will still be in effect. This has a few added effects on the other end.
For instance, root will no longer cancel SoW or Journeyman's Boots effects. It also allowed us to correct a long-standing bug that was allowing bards to cancel root on themselves by playing Selo's Accelerando if Selo's was in effect at the time that the bard was rooted. As mentioned in a previous patch where the first part of this bug was fixed, this was not the intended effect.
* Spirit of Scale , you should be grouped to cast it so you dont cancel sows.
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=8574 If this is not how the spell should operate please post a bug report citing any issues with the mechanics of the spell.
* Spirit of cheetah should stack with other movement buffs. After you use cheetah, you are left with nothing
It's faster than SoW... that's the point. It's a run burst to get away from something, not a free superspeed run buff. Cheetahs run very fast but they don't run very long. I hate citing wikipedia but it has the most valuable information pertinent to this. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheetah
* You should be given the OPTION to use the new spell gfx -- you can use textures, why not gfx? Doesn't effect anyone but the user's preference. Disabling this is like forcing us to use an exact UI layout - it only effects us.
Change your spell effects files if it bothers you, it's a ton of work to rework the spell code for people that want a bunch of shiny blobs floating across their screen and also requires two separate spell files, meaning double the work and release. Currently this server provides a checksum to ensure that new players don't fuck up their spellfiles and always have the right client to be able to run on this server.
You want them to manage two for blobs of light. It affects a lot of people.
* Same as above, but for upgraded character models. Doesn't effect anyone else, so why not? Some people want the p99 gameplay with the updated graphics so it doesn't hurt your eyes on a massive resolution
There are ways to do it that may or may not break the game. This is perhaps the only easily fixable one that people are just against because really, they look stupid. Anyone with the opinion otherwise has been ridiculed and rightfully so. Luclin models are ugly. People are going to great efforts to recreate the models in higher resolutions without losing armor sets or animations to that play-doh bullshit that Sony released. Look it up in the technical discussion section here: http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=28572
There is also a way to get upgraded textures from the Luclin expansion pack for the original Trilogy zones. Check this thread out here:
http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2482
* Pets and no rent items should remain 30 minutes while not in the game - this is terrible when you simply go linkdead because of a bad connection and you lose the item you've spent hours and hours obtaining. This is supposed to be fun, not lose all your work from a d/c.
No rent items DO stay for 30 minutes. Pet's don't. Pet's also don't stay when you zone. That was a feature later added for casual gamers that simply hated having to do any work. The GMs, in some instances, will reimburse lost items, so unless you go LD for an extended period of time and weeks go by before you do anything about it, usually you can get back on track.
* It should only give items back to you if it's not for the right quest. No multiquesting? That was a huge part of classic eq (and even live servers to this date)
All new quests, as far as I understand, have been coded using the multiquest system. Old quests, which there are a lot of, do not have it coded and will not have it coded because it requires it to be reworked by hand. If you feel up to it you can submit user changes to the source code by following directions here: http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=6897
There may be related items -- this is all i can think of right now. Hotfix these and you will see one happy person.
I fixed this for you.

For the links, thanks. For the opinions, I hope someone spirit of scale's you and root's your mob while you're kiting and lom.
As for the spell graphics, I was the one that released the patch a while back for successful and 99% (the only 1% was the root spell icon was shown as the wrong icon) working new spell gfx until it was ubernerfed by requiring the spell file on the server.. And you are right, I worked ages on it..

.
Feel free to do this to me.
For somebody who has been on the server for such a long time (almost a year longer then I've been) you sure sound like somebody who has been here for like two weeks and has no idea what the point of this server is or how resources are allocated towards what needs to be worked on.
You certainly sound like somebody who wrote up a whole list of gripes without bothering to read some of the 300 other threads per topic that you pointed out.

what the point of this server is lol. Okay, let's disable the use of the high res luclin textures so you go blind when you play EQ on a high resolution monitor. Let's get rid of queued tells when zoning. Better yet, let's get rid of the current UI and only use the classic one where you can only see 25% of the actual game and 75% opaque UI. Or why not get rid of item links -- that wasn't in the original EQ. Are you daft, kid? This is classic eq, but it's all about the experience. Not just the classic experience, but a GOOD experience. Some features were implemented that they eq wishes they implemented countless years ago at first launch. These features are in p99. There are a few more that would create a more pleasant experience without ruining the experience for others.
Open your eyes, close minded child; there are countless features in this classic server that were implemented way later for the sake of a better experience.

Hopefully, someone wouldn't do this to you, because it is basically griefing. If someone has done this to you, I would suggest making fewer enemies?

Not to mention that if the spell isn't supposed to work that way, that it should be bug reported!

And you clearly don't know the difference between things that are client based and out of dev control/much-much-much more of a hassle to deal with then its worth and things that are server based and can be changed on a whim. That pile of 0's and 1's sitting on your harddrive which allows you to view the game is still property of sony and can't be altered.
Queued messages & item links are the only things that have a chance of being changed on the server side, the rest isn't something the devs can force.
Heres the thing: Everything you put in this 'bug' has been discussed, at length, and much of it has even been commented on by the devs. Clearly, they're not bugs. If you'd like to debate these issues again, then start a server thread and debate it there. Don't come around the bugs forum posting stuff that is either out of their control or was deliberately put into place as is.

I think I'd rather keep this here the way it is. U mad brah? I looked at your posts and about 99% of them are extremely negative, demoralizing, and pathetic. 600+ posts. Go back to WoW - you'd fit in better, there.

My posts to newbies are generally helpful and informative.
My posts to people who should know better, not so much.
And if anything, you're the one that is arguing for the more WoW like experience lol.

"And if anything, you're the one that is arguing for the more WoW like experience lol."
Is that all you can think of? This game has terrible graphics but amazing gameplay. If asking how to implement better graphics for an individual, that does not effect you, and you get so mad about it - I fret for your RL character. Seek help, sir.
And only these slight changes? Not even close to WoW. Just a veteran player that sees details. Perhaps you should give it a try. You obviously want to give players an unpleasant experience as your tone describes in most of your posts even outside this thread while I aim to keep people interested in the game and not frustrated.

Aadill went point-by-point and pointed out where you're wrong and why.
Then you very politely told him that you hope someone griefs him. Most if not all of your points have been pointed out in MANY posts by people in the barely 4 months I've been on this server. Your forum account is almost a year older than mine, you should know better.
I'm not the one raging here. How about you go read my posts in any of the plethora of 'I'm a newbie'/'Looking for advice'/'Hey whats a good way to do this' threads that pop up. You'll find that I give my geniune and usually helpful opinion. Where you see me being negative (aside from talking about rangers, but even then I do it for the lulz) opinions come out is when somebody else shows up, spouting stuff that has been proven wrong a hundred times before and insisting that they're special and they have the answer and they're right. Yeah, I talk crap to them. They deserve it. When I'm wrong and somebody proves it, I own up to it. Feel free to read my posts in the 'Robe of Living Fungas' thread for that.
PS. I played WoW for about 4 months after it went live, got to 60 and got bored with it. Never looked back.

"Go back to WoW" is really the best you can do?
They already told you why it can't be done or why it's not worth the time and effort. They're not going to make changes that a small percentage of the server's player base wants if it takes a ton of work away from other issues or if it breaks things for other players.
Most of the people on this server mutually agree that the Luclin models look absolutely horrendous. They're dopey looking and their animations are atrocious. I died a little inside when I realized that somewhere, some idiot developer sat back, looked at those models and animations and said "Snapping your wrist halfway through a sword swing? Swinging 2HB weapons with a simple thrust of the hips? Awkward non-motion cap animations all around? Perfect! Those are good to go! Let's ship!"

@Lucia thank you for focusing on -one- of the subjects I posted with an insignificant point. Luclin models, theyre pretty bad, but the old ones arent good either really. They were better in my head before I actually came back and saw them now. It's sort of like when you remember how great Ocarina of Time was; then you actually play it again and the graphics are sorta...eughh.. but the gameplay still rocks. Honestly I want the high res old model textures that guy is working on.
@Baalzy yes, and I thanked him for the actual help part before I told him I hope someone griefs him for the harsh, unnecessary opinions
