New to Game (Help)

Hello everyone,

I'm currently stuck on trying to get this game up and running. If anyone could please give me a hand.

First - I installed (bought) the game on Steam. Includes the newest expansion.
I have NOT registered a real Station Account yet. Do I need to?
I then followed the "Getting Started" instructions from this site and extracted and added all files.

Here's my problem. I can't start the game! lol. I go into Steam, and I click Play Game. It gives a quick loading symbol on my cursor - then nothing appears.

Do you have a client I should be running? Any help would be appreciated. I will be checking the forums periodically tonight.

If you followed the setup guide, why did you try to open eq with steam?
You need to create an own shortcut (as listed in the setup guide), and use that.

I'm confused. Why would it matter if I open the game from Steam vs If I added a shortcut?

The game isn't starting regardless. But that has nothing to do with Project 1999. It wasn't starting in general, before I did the setup.

you need - "To get started, you must first obtain a copy of the specific Everquest client that is compatible with our server. This client is called the Titanium client"

follow steps 1-5 like the startup guide says

NOW follow the instructions and extract the needed files for here on the startup guide

wtf is steam?

the shortcut is being said as important because you need to change what you log into. right now you are probably logging in eq live? idk. but ya I'd say titanium client is the first step.

I can't get titanium though.

No not yet. Do they plan to? No idea. Guess it depends on how much money they make from people actually paying for accts and RMT on the "free" EQ2 server and if they think they can also milk it out of the old cash cow (EQ) without killing it.

I tried Sony's concept of a classic server when the Fippy and Vulak servers went live and they gave out 14 day free passes. I wouldn't play there again even if it was free forever.

Just dropped $20 on Thule expansion only to find out it won't work. My fault - obviously.

But I'd rather avoid buying ANOTHER copy of the game if I can help it.

You'll find the in-game playerbase one of the best - better than any marketed MMO or even any free server, and I've attempted to play on a few.

Even now, most of the people in this thread are trying to help you - which they have to do in a roundabout way for legal reasons.

Here's what I did. I bought the titanium edition off amazon for like $25. I tried installing it, but encountered an installation error. I decided download was the best option. I guess download with a purchase makes it legit, at least in my mind.

Technically it doesn't but I agree that having the legit copy covers you in the realm of karma. I'm glad you got you got your issues resolved. Gotta love online shopping to help out.

Ok, I got the game installed! All set and ready to go!

Followed every step on emulator guide along with classic 1999 guide.

I can see the server list! Clicking join server!

Loading screen works!!!!!

Oof....back at log-in. I can't get past the loading screen to joining the server.
