View Full Version : I want to return and my goal is to hit 60. How is the blue community?

Hey guys,
I have most of my wealth on blue(about 150k total worth of gear) and I got to around 10k or so on green. I spent most of my time on blue in DAP and my highest character is a 45 druid.
My plan is to finally commit and get to level 60. I've loved this game since 99 and I feel like it's about time I do this. Is blue my best option? How is the mid-late game grouping? My plan has always been to have a 60 shaman. I currently have one at 22 but he's got great gear on him so solo'ing will be no problem. My other option was to push my druid to 60.
Are there active west coast guilds? Is there any reason I should even consider green?
Thanks for reading.
Welcome Back!
Benefits of Blue would be your mini fortune and levels already acquired. You'll also have less issues obtaining camps. Ppl are still friendly on Blue but it's less active I'd say, Especially for leveling early game.
Benefits of Green would be more active community. Likely more people to exp grind with if you want to be social.
Good luck getting 60 no matter which path you choose! I also had to finally buckle down and get to 60 on one of my characters after playing this game 20+ years. So I relate pretty strongly to your dream goal here. It's a doozy! Especially 57+ but if you are playing a class you enjoy it's not too bad.

Shaman has dramatically reduced in price recently.... Torpor is down to like 40k-45k and other spells also down in price.... Epic is still expensive and jbb as well but slap a fungi and some starter gear on a shaman and should be pretty easy and more affordable than ever to get to 60 on a shaman
As for community it is much the same as it always has been.... very top heavy. You will encounter more players than ever that have tons of 60s and will only play to raid, or farm plat camps
If you want to get 60 I would say focus on that twink whatever class you want out as much as possible and have fun with it. Both druid and shaman can solo to 60 with ease. Shaman is going to be far better and finding friends to grind exp with if you don't want to solo as any melee class will be more than happy to dps for you provided you slow mobs and heal them. Finding groups on druid is going to be rough unless you find a educated melee dps and aggro kite full 6man groups do not favor druids and will be very rough unless you intend to solo
Both servers are "done" everything has been accomplished guilds are on farm-mode.

Yeah now is a great time to get a 60 Shaman on Blue. As mentioned above, Torpor has gone down to like 45k when it used to be 80K. Even Epic is down to like 75k with fight now. It was around 120k for years.
US timezones have the highest pop, so you are good there.

With 150k you have all the resources you need to have an epic/torpor shaman. The nice thing about shaman is you can just /who and find a twink melee and go duo.
DAP was good for you.

It's gunna be tough to hit 60 because DN PL is gone apparently
Better luck next server
Green is definitely better if you want a larger more active community but having the fungi advantage on blue would trump it unless you're a self found fan

JBB is relatively cheap too, 16k or less

Oh man it was years of casual porting lol.
Also thanks for the advice everyone . I hopped on last night and had a few super friendly encounters which made my decision to just leave green out of the equation.
I never did hit 60, on live (except during PoP), or here. Maybe someday. Godspeed!

It can be difficult to get a PUG outside of KC, but exp in a full group there usually isn't very good anyways. Duo/trio is way better
I would avoid paying for epic until you are certain shaman is for you, since you can't resell it. Grab a fungi, good haste and some decent weapons. A JBB will get you from 46 to the low 50s pretty quick. Only at that point would I make a decision on paying for epic. You should have an idea of the downsides of playing a shaman by then. I love the idea of shaman but the reality of constant canni spamming and buffing others can wear you down.
And if you change your mind a fungi/haste/weapon set makes basically all melee characters ezmode until 50+.
Should you decide to go with shammy, or any other class for that matter, feel free to hit me up on my twink Anasterion if you ever want to duo/group
Am I to understand a druid can make 145k Plat by level 45 in DaP?

Level is not a very good metric when looking at port money. You want to get to level 45 or so because that opens up most if not all of your port spells. Once you have all of the most popular port spells, you simply stop leveling and port people to get 145k plat in DaP.
If you make 50pp on average per port, you need to port people 2900 times. This assumes you never port for free, port a player with less than 50 plat, etc. Some people over tip, so that can reduce how many ports you need to do, or at least balance out the ones that were worth less than 50pp.

Hope you like sub 350 player counts and a community that's desperate for green to merge into their beta bucks server just to buy it some more time.
Go green or go home.

Then let's agree on our mutual dislike and you nerds stop begging for a merger then.
There's nothing that would make the green community happier (than the beta bucks blue players trying to move over their legacy loot) than knowing we dont have to rejoin the feces smeared, exploit fest that is blue server.

lol the green leveling experience was nearly as bad as TLP with the antisocial, boxing basement dwellers, sorry you missed out on what P99 culture was on blue back in the day outside of raiding.
Notice this is the blue forum and you're on here shitting on the server; you don't see any of us going over to green server chat and shitting on green. Real shining example there. You seem pretty desperate for people to roll on green, seemingly to forestall the same fate as blue if there isn't a merge and Green 2.0
Btw see you after the merge

You guys brigade green on a daily basis begging for merges. You're as dishonest as you are deluded.
Enjoy your beta bucks dying server. Must be pretty depressing watching the average numbers dwindle daily.
And to think, blue only trailed green by a few hundred as recent as 6 months ago.
Now it's less than half.
I'm just trying to do the guy a solid and not make a new character on a buggy, exploited, dying, legacy server.
Deprecation is coming, and rightly so.

No ones brigading Green. Almost everyone plays on both servers, hence the interaction in both the Blue and Green servers.
Experience on both servers is mudflated and top heavy. They're essentially the same at this point. I still enjoy them both equally.

You can hit 60 soloing if needed too. If you can find buddies on your schedule that’s great. Pick-up-groups are less common.
We don't need any mergers over on blue, just add a rotation and green light boxing and green can sperg out for eternity on its own.

Join green. Better prices on gear and not hard to make money, especially as a DaP. More people, sweatier raid scene, the platinum will flow.

I did 1-60 as a new p99 player with no plat. Took 3 1/2 months give or take. Some nice people along the way gave me some noob gear which helped. With that much plat you should have no issue what so ever leveling.

Are the prices actually better? I would assume with all the years of farming on Blue, they'd have more items than there are people to buy them?
Are Fungis, haste items, good ratio weapons etc. cheaper on Green than they are on Blue?

My assumption is he means better prices as a seller. Which is true for non-big ticket items
whats up OP did you ever manage to get 60?
