Hmm I thought black was a pretty dominant gene in terms of expression meaning bi-racial = black
Interestingly enough I have the whitest black person I’ve ever seen co-worker shadow me last week
He said his family was from the south and black and I was like “but how are you white then?” He’s like I’m not, I have black hair as you can see and pointed to his curly fro. I was like oh my bad!
Grok says I can't call him that word but I can call him "White Miracle"
Fair enough.

i hope selective amnesia is a tech in the future, i can watch any random episode of trek and enjoy it as much if not more now, nothin hit me as hard as Babylon 5 did the first viewing but the rewatchable score is low due to knowing what happens at the end.
also, i hope this does well and makes all other remakes and Hollywood slop a joke so they stop doing it.

Yes, a sequel to the 1990 NASCAR film Days of Thunder is in development with Tom Cruise reportedly reprising his role as Cole Trickle. The project is in the early stages, with writers currently working on the script. While a director has not yet been announced, Jerry Bruckheimer is confirmed to be involved as a producer

I'm unconvinced any of the people like that who screech on social media or on their streams actually hate America. They hate conservatives for sure, but I'm pretty sure its just virtue signaling to their Marxist audience. These days they are just lashing out that they have lost the plot and their base is shrinking and their narrative is falling apart. Saying they hate America is just an easy target.
Anyways, for an on-topic - the show Evil on netflix is pretty good. I also really liked Suits and Terminal List
"Skeptical psychologist Kristen Bouchard joins David Acosta, who is training to be a Catholic priest, and a blue collar contractor as they investigate the church's backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions and other extraordinary occurrences."

"Yes, a sequel to the 2005 film Constantine, titled Constantine 2, is in development with Keanu Reeves set to reprise his role as John Constantine. The film is reportedly intended to be R-rated and is expected to begin production in mid-2025."

I enjoyed it, went in with 0 expectations and not even having seen a trailer or anything either, was hooked by the 3rd episode.
I feel like I've been getting edged ever since the initial rumors floating around about the Constantine sequel. Solid agree though, Constantine is one of the best movies ever, I dont even know how many times I've watched it, and it never gets old. Just hoping it lives up to the hype. Theres been way too many Keanu Reeves sequels that are utter garbage, not blaming Keanu at all either.

Sliders is probably the worst for CGI that aged poorly, I think budget cuts in later seasons might have made it worse :D
Babylon 5 and Space: Above and Beyond
The visual effects for both Babylon 5 and Space: Above and Beyond were created primarily with NewTek's LightWave 3D software. For hardware, the effects were often rendered on Amiga personal computers with a Video Toaster add-on card. As technology advanced, productions like Space: Above and Beyond also started using more powerful DEC Alpha and early Pentium PCs running Windows NT.
Sliders
Information on the specific CGI hardware and software for the television show Sliders is not readily available. However, given the timeframe, it is highly likely that the production would have used similar industry-standard tools for television CGI, such as LightWave 3D on platforms like the Amiga or PC workstations.
Reboot
As one of the first fully computer-animated television series, Reboot was a groundbreaking production. The show was created using Softimage Creative Environment software on Silicon Graphics (SGI) workstations. SGI workstations were high-end, powerful machines that were crucial for the complex, full-CGI animation of the series.

Lately a lot of them start strong but then evolve into shit (looking at you stranger Things and Umbrella Academy)
Some I've already seen that I loved would be...
Breaking Bad
Black Mirror
Game of Thrones
Mindhunter
Everybody Loves Raymond
Stranger Things (first few seasons)
Shameless (until Emmy Rossum left)
The Umbrella Academy (first few seasons)
And I'm currently watching Parks and Recreation and I plan to watch The Office.
I'm looking for more good ones tho! What are some of your favorites?
What we do int he Shadows is a good comedy.
the US version of Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency.. at least season 1, is one of the best tv shows I've ever seen. Season 2 is alright but nowhere near the level of s01.
Midnight Mass on netflix is a great horror series.

How's that for planned obsolescence?
Yeah I had to look up how to spell that. :)
I started watching all of Danny Mcbrides shows on HBO Max. Started with Vice Principles, then Eastbound and Down, and now I'm about to finish S1 of The Righteous Gemstones. I've loved all of them so far! Walton Goggins and Edi Patterson are too good!
The wait is almost over. Blade Runner 2099, Prime Video‘s limited series followup to the 2017 movie sequel Blade Runner 2049, will premiere on the platform in 2026.
the series, starring Michelle Yeoh, was delayed by almost a year by the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Currently in post-production, Blade Runner 2099 had previously been targeting a debut in late 2025 or early 2026.
forgot this was a thing and that Michelle Yeoh was going to be in it, cautiously optimistic

One thing video games taught me is being the best at a thing is knowing the abilities of your enemy.
Like, if you master every class in everquest, you play 1 class way better by default.
Or if you know the capabilities of another fighter and their patterns well enough you can easily defeat them (even I beat professional heavyweight UFC fighters in the ring using this technique).
idk it's just interesting that being the best at a tequnique is < as understanding the strengths and weaknesses your enemies.

Have you seen House of Dragons? Some people don't like it but I've enjoyed it so far. Not EVERYTHING, some of the time skips are jarring.
If you want to have an open mind....Samurai Champloo is a work of art, a violent animated short series (26 episodes), that really showcased the early lo-fi music before it blew up big on youtube(nujabes RIP)...So amazing music, amazing fight scenes, fantastic story. Takes place in fuedal era Japan, three characters, one is a ronin, one is a sort of ex pirate fighter, and one is a girl looking for her father. Highly recommend!
Entourage I haven't seen in about 11 years but really enjoyed it at the time. About the day to day life of a twenty something kid blowing up into a phenom actor and his...entourage. The movie agent carries the show.
Brooklyn 99 has hilarious dialogue and that kind of feel good humour you get from the office/parks and rec without the solo interview stuff. Definitely its own thing, not copying, but good vibes.

I tried watching House of Dragons with my wife but we both hated it. I think we got 3 episodes into the first season when we both decided it wasn't for us. Dialog was so cringe and jarring it ruined our immersion into the Tolkien world. So I guess I'm in the "some people who don't like it" crowd. You are relating apples to oranges.
Apples: A conventional tariff is a tax on imports designed to protect domestic industries from foreign competition. Many economists consider it a harmful policy that creates economic inefficiency. It discourages free trade, raises consumer prices, and can provoke retaliatory tariffs from other countries, reducing overall economic welfare.
Oranges: A carbon tax is a Pigovian tax designed to correct a market failure like negative externality of pollution. Pollution is a societal cost that is not reflected in the market price of goods and services. A carbon tax internalizes this cost, making polluters pay for the harm they cause. The policy's goal is to improve the efficiency of the market by accounting for the true cost of carbon-intensive products, which drives innovation toward cleaner alternatives.
better equivalent would probably be Manchineel Apples ( :D ) to Sanguinello Oranges :)

Nah...
A Tariff is a duty on imports.
A Carbon Tax is an excise tax on the use of a pollutant; an input cost.
The carbon tax aims to reduce the carbon footprint; the conventional tariff does not and increases it by promoting less-efficient production.

well.... hmm...
The "most efficient" production, in the traditional private sense, is often the one that offloads its pollution costs (externalities) onto society for free, thereby appearing cheap while making everyone else pay for the damage. A carbon tax works by forcing the polluter to include that societal cost in their price, thus correcting the imbalance and making the truly efficient, cleaner methods more profitable.
Thou you have point.

The confusion arises because a complete, effective carbon tax policy must include a component that acts like a tariff to remain competitive. This component is the Border Carbon Adjustment (BCA), which is what your Econofact article was discussing.
