View Full Version : Mobs on strike in overthere

This is a very sad zone compared to classic in terms of mob density. I would guess theres less than 1/3 or 1/4 of the mobs that used to be in this zone. It's like running through west karana.... big empty zone with hardly anything in it.

It isnt helped any by the everpresent bards kiting 20 mobs at a time either.

Makes it pretty hard to level in the mid 30's. I was contemplating having a wander around FV. I've read that theres a good drolvarg camp there, but as a necro that isn't much help since I can't break camps unless they are undead.

EJ, TT, DL, BW are all too high level it seems. Maybe I need to check out some of the guards in the old world. Misty thicket is permacamped so that's no good, besides being very inconvenient.

Really annoying since OT is so convenient, if only it had the mobs it is supposed to.

The mob density is just like it was during live. Those bards are usually kiting 50+, not 20... add in a few druids quad'ing and the zone is empty.

I'd suggest SK, maybe outside or in Paw, Lguk Bedroom, Mistmoore, might be able to do Rathe Mnts hill giants, FM is usually good at the upper 20s lower 30s (I could be wrong, been a minute), Nurga if you can get a group, Sol B maybe, surely there is something in OOT I'm forgetting, I think you can solo basement in Unrest at your lvl for exp still, also I think goblins in WW are upper 20s, hell maybe even Kaesora with a group.

Plenty of shit to do, problem is most ppl wanna hang outdoors instead of forming groups and doing a dungeon at those levels.

Overthere is a Bard zone. You're only allowed in OT as a non-Bard if you took the boat there accidentally or if you need to travel to an adjacent zone.

And to add insult to injury, all those bards are caster twinks, and probably wearing FBSS's.

When the bards ain't around the mob density is exactly the usual Kunarkish 50-mobs-per-square-meter. Recall raging alot trying to whack the zerkers near frontier mtns only to be jumped by the damned cats and cuccos every second minute. Is like playing Frogger trying to move out of the pathers' way all the time.

Actually would like to thank the bards for their efforts. Overthere is like Oasis #2; a zone so bland and unrewarding it's amazing, yet for whatever reason people insist to cluster there for groups.

People outside of Bards/Druids/Wizards that level in outside zones are very very bad people. They make dungeons for a reason.

You're a necromancer. You should be soloing in a dungeon and taking advantage of the increased EXP, not complaining about how you might have to choose a different shitty outdoor zone to level in.

They have full Lambent to make sure that each and every mob in the swarm gets a whack at them before they go under.

Dunno, leveling every hour and a half-two hours on my necro in OT wasn't too shabby

I leveled my rogue from 30-40 in OT and it was amazing. If you can get a group there it is definitely worth the trip. Especially near the lake/pit area.

OT was made for bards. Casters dont exist, 3/4 of the population runs at the same speed and has the same hitbox, and the mob density makes pulling some MASSIVE kites possible. It is quite literally the BEST place for a bard to park himself for L20-46. There is always at least one bard in that level range, so don't expect to see a whole lot untagged in that zone.

Perhaps I will try some indoor zones then.
I know necro is way better indoors than druids, wizards and bards, but have always considered them somewhat more suited to outdoor by making use of fear kiting. (which I suppose is possible in some indoor places...perhaps)

I suspect I can kill more mobs per hour outdoors, but as has been pointed out, zem might change the equation.

Food for thought anyway, thankyou.

I remember having no problems grouping in OT as a paladin on live, the zone was always crowded with people.

Yes, but you probably didn't have bards kiting 50+ mobs at a time on live. Here, it has proven to be some of the fastest leveling in the game.

I went from 30-35+ easy in OT. I solo'd and I grouped plenty as a necro =). I would also venture to WW and do the Giant fort. Very easy fear kitting there, single pulls and the occasional forest loop. Sometimes the fort is fully camped but in most cases I was able to peel off 3-4 Giants from the gate which was plenty for medding

you don't need lull to camp the drolvargs in FV, it's great xp, much better than OT.

cheers

Bland, sure, but solo-wise I always loved the Overthere; I'd usually get burnt out after a while and go somewhere else, but I'd always come back to OT because the xp is just so damned nice.

And actually, with the complex sky on during a sunset or sunrise, OT can be a gorgeous zone to burn levels in. I remember back when I was farming XP potions, the OT was so nice and serene :o

hehe i was insinuating the same ppl locking down lower guk for sashes were kiting OT in their offtime. :)

I know this may come as a surprise to you, OP, but there's this one spell you have called Feign Death. Ya know, that thing monks and SK's use to split mobs without the use of lull?

Srsly though. Snare mob A... mob B and C joins... keep running / backing up to get mob A away from social aggro of the camp. FD.... wait for B and C to go away and send your pet on A to keep him there til aggro clears.

Win?

Haven't visited overthere yet (won't until I'm ready to get the hammer) as it was part of the lemming progression on live.

You want mob density? Go into Runnyeye sometime...lol. You can't scratch your ass without jostling a goblin. And no black alloy loot to compensate - obviously it seems to me they added all the updated mobs (on top of original mobs) but not updated loot. It is a death trap if you're under level 40. If you doubt it, check the zone population whenever you're online. It will be empty or a solo level 50+ only. Was a fun zone at one point, but not in it's present state.

If you really can't break camps as a necro between root, darkness, and FD, you're simply not trying hard enough. You have better tools than any other class to break a camp and survive to kill your pull.

I stopped reading at "I'm a Necro and I can't break anything but Undead camps" etc etc, along those lines.

yea for lvls 30-35, id say do unrest, or you could do hhk guards, great exp up to lvl 38 when it gets a bit slow

35+ can do hill giants, exp is nice, but may be better to do at 37+, back when my shaman was 34, took almost my whole mana bar to kill one

that drolvarg camp in fv can lvl you 35-40 fast, and this one is pretty easy to do once you learn of the area, the one im talking about is the underground one

40-45 no clue, but fast lvling 44-51, do gobs in lake of ill omen, the ones in the lake at the bottom
