MLB integrates Negro League statistics (https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/29/sport/josh-gibson-mlb-records-negro-league/index.html)

Babe Ruth is no longer statistically MLB’s top slugger. Here's why

the leagues were businesses with different rules, it's like apple integrating microsoft's statistics

this isn't the racial dog whistle that you think it is, it's just stupid

It's not the least bit political to say this will fix flagging attendance and RSN bankruptcies.

Making it official won't bother many people except the hardcore statisticians, and after that its just down to an individual basis what you want to acknowledge.

And not too long hence none will remember what was.

I thought about it and college vs pro football is a much better analogy for definitely not sexist reasons. 👍

They needa change the shape of the field to a septagon.

Runs are gathered by touching ANY 3 normal bases and finally homo plate.
The other plates are at various angles and distances to (adjacent bases to) allow the batter to hit to and the pitcher to pitch to certain areas to encourage/discourage various hit choices.

Loaded bases can be interesting.
6+ players all run out at once mean a loss of the following inning, or the 1st of the next game.

Running out a player involves tagging (and blood letting).

Setting out of the angular bases is the sole reason geometry is offered in school.

I blame Big Math.

The last legit season of MLB was 2016. It's been dead ever since. Funny that it ended with the cubs winning it all and breaking the "curse" --- how poetic, really.
RIP.
Baseball is still the greatest game ever...but MLB doesn't resemble it at all anymore. Total trash.

what happened in 2016

It's more like what happened after 2016.
The Houston TRASHtros cheated their way to a title in 2017 by banging on trash cans to signal what type of pitch was coming...the team kept their title and no player was punished.
MLB altered the baseballs, skewing 100+ year old statistics
MLB changing rules after 100+ years of playing the game the same way, ruining the integrity of the game. Pitch clocks, ghost runners, ect.
MLB focused entirely on analytical data and causing the sport to feel mechanical and robotic. Unnatural.

The best way to describe it is baseball has always been a timeless sport, unchanged, unadulterated. That was part of the magic of it. It was the same game my great grandfather watched...and his grandfather....Now it feels like something organic and natural has been ruined in an attempt to draw more fans in while pushing old fans out. Truly sad to witness...but nothing is sacred I suppose.

I'll miss the memories and I'll mourn the fact that I won't be taking my kids to games and watching it with them on TV. I wont be able to experience the magic of the game with them through MLB because its not the same game at all. Its hollow and lifeless now. That's alright tho more time for us to just go play the game as it was intended IRL.

I actually like the pitch clock and don't mind the slight increase in distance between each base.

Ghost runners is dumb though imo.

I still enjoy baseball.. There is some good talent in today's game. Pitchers are pretty OP though.

If Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is anything to go on, and it is, then baseball will still be fondly remembered and preserved by some even after the tides of history wash the MLB away.

Classic Baseball is fun as heck chill sport. If ppl still played sports at all irl instead of EQ and WoW it'd still be huge.

Would even consider an adult soft tball league. Wish there was one for cripples like me.
