Loved the costume design on the orcs. Some spectacular locations. Looking forward to seeing more.
just finished ep 1, yeah this is way better than s1 idk if it's due to it actually being better or just it's finally moved the plot far enough along that it's shit i care about
yeah... they lost me again lol. so fucking hamfisted, ended up just fast forwarding through ep 3

Yeah no I can't. With these type of spinoff shows I always just ask myself "would this be good if it were a new IP and not based on an established one?".
Then I make a big thumbs down gesture and a loud fart\shit noise, because the answer is always no.

yeah, first episode was good and got me hyped the following two just had too much filler type nonsense with really bad pacing, like 20 minutes of Gandalf walking through the desert with two hobbits was not fuckin needed

yeah, only reason i'm watching at all is some of the scenes are from the Silmarillion and Appendix A but the "tv show" part of it is fucking horrid.
and it's insane they have literally spent nearly a billion dollars on this show with that kind of money there is zero excuse for it not to be on par with the LOTR trilogy and all they are accomplishing is making the Hobbit trilogy look less shit now in comparison

I really like how it adds all this lore and intrigue to orcs.
Also the dwarf and elf friendship in s1 was so great!

Isildur claimed the Ring as a weregild for his father and brother, and Elrond (perhaps not fully understanding the nature of the One Ring) acknowledged his claim. Elrond then returned to Rivendell at the end of the war.

RoP has a scene humanizing the orcs in the most hamfisted way possible Adar's second in command kisses his wife and baby before battle.
reminded me of all the stupid drama about that shit in Dungeons and Dragons now
edit: for some historical context about this the first DnD module presents the players with a dilemma about how to handle a room full of goblin children after you clear out a goblin cave that had killed nearby villagers so you either project humanity on evil creatures and spare them which inevitably leads to consequences down the line, or you go full Anakin Skywalker at the jedi temple about it. i remember my group back in the day having like a 20 minute debate about the pros and cons and comparing it to killing baby hitler with a time machine

I haven't seen season 2, but season 1 wasn't too bad. I would be shocked if season 2 was a hundred times worse than season 1 ...
... and it would have to be at least that much worse, to be as bad as the Hobbit trilogy.

That trilogy was just rancid
the new Legolas guy does some Hobbit tier CGI fighting in ep 3
edit: this scene was the worst though

Alot of the characters are extremely difficult to like or care about. Theres just a lot of expected emotional investment with each scene without really giving me enough of a reason to give a shit. On top
Of that galadriel or whatever has the most annoying personality and if their goal is for me to sympathize with her it failed.

I liked the tree dudes in episode 4, other than the mixed rape message.
I didn't like the watcher in the water (https://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Watcher_in_the_Water) being the watcher in the mudpuddle and also so easily defeated.
The characters played by human actors were not good but there's a wizard battle coming up!!

the wight battle was also too readily resolved and galadriel got the kill credit despite elrond being the brains behind it
think imma wait until either all the episodes are out or until the wizard fight.
and i hope that one screengrab from an article is a blue wizard and not Tom Bombadil like people are thinking.

Tom already appeared on screen talking about being Goldberry and Withywindle and being older than the stars. Gandalf went to his house, he had a goat.
Also the bad wizard is Mance Rayder if you didn't notice. I didn't.

oof.
Rings of Power season 1’s Labor Day premiere of 132 minutes of two episodes brought in 1.2 billion minutes watched in four days.
Rings of Power season 2’s premiere of three episodes totaling 204 minutes brought in 553.5 million minutes watched in its first four days.

I keep wanting to get into this season, but then I think about the hugging orcs.
I mean, I was a huge fan of S1, despite any small complaints I had with it.
But bruh I just can't even.
lol, lmao even.

I didn't understand why Elrond showed up in Khazad Dum(b) if he was going to Lindon to get the elf army.
Also why was the elf army so puny? Weren't they supposed to be going to Mordor?
