Hello everyone,
My wife and I are having issues when zoning. We LD quite often and I have read every post I can find here and on EQEmu forums about LDing in zones. I get this error with almost every crash: D3DXCreateTextureFromFileEx() failed to create texture spelc2.tga for particle system. Although spelc2.tga is a different value most of the time the rest of the error is the same. I am running Win7 x64 pro that is completey updated. The compatility mode is set to Windows xp service pack 2 (I have tried all the modes to fix the issues). I have tried all usable resolutions for my sceen also. I also tried Wineq2 but can only login randomly due to the login server issues they have. One computer uses an ATI 5990 and the other uses onboard video and both computers have the problem. I am open to try any suggestion people may have to get the issue fixed. I am grateful for anytime spent posting your ideas here. Thanks.

Has it ever worked? Are you using Titanium? What directory is it installed in?
Try doing a fresh install, to C:\EverQuest then download the installer in my signature and run option (1), it will set up the game for you to run on P99 in about 5 seconds.. if that works then you must have set up something wrong.

It has worked and does not LD us everytime we zone. It is actually installed c:\everquest and I already use Duxaui with Titanium. I have also tried it with Vertui and Classic UI. I do get less LD's with Duxa then the other two Ui's. I have unistalled and reinstalled so many times that I have lost count. Thank you for taking the time to post and trying to help us out. It is very appreciated.

What version of DirectX do you have?
If you don't know how to check, go to your search bar in the windows menu, type run, then type dxdiag.

It is DX11 although I had to install the DX 9c when I was trying to make it work with WinEQ2.

What version does dxdiag tell you is running?

Ok just to let you guys know what I tried last night that seemed to fix my issues. We ran from Halas to Oasis and back to OoT (for some need and testing purposes) with 0 LD's. When my wife and I were both playing before last night we could not go 2 zones in a row with out crashing for one of us and most of the time both of us crashed so that run was something like hitting the EQ lottery. I went into our router (Dlink DGL-4500 Xtreme) and turned off SPI which I am not very happy about but I just turned it back on after we were done with our EQ session. I am not 100% sure this is a perfect fix because I only have one couple of hour zone session to test it but that run was blissful last night. I will try it again tonight and if it works half way through tonight I will turn it back on to see if the crashing starts up again. Again I would like to thank anyone trying to help us.

Sounds like you might have found your issue. The fact that your bug crash report keeps going after if fails to load the particle texture tells me its not what is crashing you.

Failed to create texture is a result of loading into the game, not in any way shape or form related to the network code within the eq client.
LDing does not display a message in the dbg.txt file until you are fully timed out. (typically, anyway)
Issues like these are always a network issue for reference.

I agree secrects that it was/is network related but I was/am so frustrated I was grasping at straws with the dbg.txt. I was very excited to find a classic Eq server and very more excited when my wife out of the blue said to me "Hey I will give that a try" that I would have do almost anything to get it to work. I believed so strongly that it is network related that I went out and bought the dlink and a new cable modem and when that did not fix it I just started grasping to be honest. Thanks to all that have taken the time to read the post and reply back with info. We are grateful.

After a few days now I still have zero issues since turning off SPI on my router during game play. As soon as I enable it we crash almost ever zone again so this in fact is our issue and fix. On a side note I in my first post I said Wineq2 was having login issues however the issue was me not setting it under the properties to run as an admin on win7. While Wineq2 it self did not fix my issue it does help the everquest run smoother on my system. Once again thanks for those that gave advice. I am grateful for your help.
