Sup guys! So, I’ve been looking to purchase an Eroded Leather Tunic for some time now with no luck, I’m told people rarely sell them now days.
Looking at the wiki they can drop in Kael from 35+ mobs. How rare is it to farm from the lower mobs? Any advice on which mobs I should target?
Would like to solo if possible. I have a 60 Druid, 54 Shaman and 53 Necro.
Thanks!

Can charm mega-wolves with druid but I'd suggest a trio with cleric and enchanter so you can do top arena with mana sieve, ch and even fear for your snare but I'm just a groupist that never solos...
Plus they don't need leather and druid does - for loot logic

Appreciate the info! I’m trying not to ask for help from others, but I guess it would be worth it to them if I paid 1/3 of the value and split the others drops with them yeah?

Eveyone is a winner in a successful group. I'd love to help but my PC is four states away and i haven't figured out how to play on a flip phone... Yet.

It does cost more, not too much more though, but Skyshrine (SS armor) is the better bet. People still do HoT compared to Kael, it’s too far into Velious that anyone is camping arena on the regular. There’s some plate house groups once in a while, that would be your best bet if you are really inclined to do so.

I was thinking about that, but the rep grind is already done with Thurg. Although, the shade of green for the SS armor does look cool 😎

I was actually looking, seems like a lot of the stuff I killed to raise Coldain faction also raised COV? Maybe I’m not too far off.

There are usually faction pulls done on the WL side of Kael as a lot of raid guilds keep needing toons to be max ally with CoV for various reasons. That and if you can be around for a statue or aow kill the grind can be pretty easy.

I believe the weakest mobs in Kael that drop armor are the mobs at 4 way. Its not uncommon to see someone soloing or a small group killing there. Chest pieces would be the rarest of the different armor slots and even then you have a 1/4 chance that its leather that drops which is why you don't really see them up for sale. Outside of plate armor because of plate house there isn't really an abundance of Thurgadin Armor drops out there. I would expect it would take a month or 2 of consistent grinding to get a leather BP to drop going that route, maybe longer (I don't think I've ever seen one drop).
As someone mentioned if you spent the same time and effort farming plat, even simply porting people, you can probably get a SS leather tunic as soon or sooner as there is more abundance of SS armor drops as people frequent HoT a lot more than Kael arena.
If you obtained your Coldain faction by killing giants then you probably have even better faction in SS than you do Thurg, the SS armor does require Ally but, as also mentioned, you can literally hang out at the WL zoneline when a guild is doing faction pulls and tag the mobs for 300+ faction boost each pull (can be done every 30 mins). Not to mention if you tag some of the Kael bosses which also get faught at the zoneline (especially statue/AoW) you can get big CoV faction boosts from that too.

COV faction is actually super easy. For one, tagging AOW and Statue when guilds kill it in Kael is a massive faction bump. For two, the big raiding guilds regularly do "faction pulls" in Kael to grind back the faction they lose raiding in TOV. They pull a bunch of +COV faction mobs to the WL ZL and everyone can tag them as they get AOEd down. Each pull is like +250-300 COV faction IIRC. If you can get in on them when they're doing a string of them, they will do a pull every like 20 something minutes when the mobs respawn and you can grind your COV faction to ally over the course of a few hours that way just by hopping back on when the pull is incoming. Best bet for faction pulls is usually the day of/day or two after a quake.

Bunch of great info, thanks guys! If I don’t find one by Thanksgiving break I’ll probably grind it when I have some time to play more.

Ok, here we go...
DRUID SOLO LEATHER THURG ARMOR strategy that is super safe.
1. Find out which wolves are level 53 or lower (can't charm 54+) in the wolf pit, your 53 Necro will see them as WHITE or BLUE when you use /con. Try for Blue, you want less breaks. If you see one who is charmable and you can grab them (I consider this the front two wolves and the pather wolf), move on to step #2.
2. Bind yourself on WL/Kael line, invis + SoW and head to the ramp by the wolves. Use your MR debuff on the charmable wolf, run through the tunnel to EW, as you exit the tunnel there is ledge on your right, drop off and run a couple paces away (I run up to the incline heading to Platehouse) and start gating. If you drop off and move a few steps away the pathing mobs will now run all the way to the stairs giving you ample time to gate. If you stay RIGHT by the ledge after dropping off, the mobs will path right off the ledge with you, give them some space. We're aiming to be safe here.
3. Redo invis, head back in. Snare the wolf you just hit with the MR Debuff. If it fails, you should have time to try another snare from the tunnel entrance. Once ensnare lands you have like 12 minutes of that wolf NOT moving when you GATE. Again, use the ledge at the top of the ramp so you have ample gate time.
4. Redo invis, head back in, charm your wolf, haste him. I pull my giants to the tunnel, because it's a LOT easier on charm breaks to have that entire tunnel to handle your hasted and very dangerous pet break.
Some things to note:
The tunnel has 2 pathers, a NON-KOS wizard in a robe and a KOS giant, the giant is a super low level fellow and roots will hold him if you see him during your snares etc. Otherwise your wolf will kill him in under 30 seconds.
The middle of 4-way can have Captian Bvellos in it. Don't engage him. If you do, send in your wolf and GATE. Hopefully you have enough time left on snare to grab the wolf again.
The wolf has MASSIVE regen and will almost never go under 96% health (which means he won't summon on breaks). If he goes under, spot heal him back to over 96%.
Spells: Ensnare, Long Root, Charm, Haste, Short Root, 2 heal spells (so I can chain cast if needed), GATE. (I swap one of the heals out for level 1 nuke pulling, or invis to break pets).
I have GINA track my ensnare timer and I use my epic on the giants so I can always tell if my wolf needs a new snare. I don't let him dip under 5 minutes of ensnare so that I can always catch him if I need to gate out.
Loot! Loot comes from the Lieutenants. The "watchman" mobs will not drop Thurg Armor pieces. It's easy to remember as you want "loot"enants to spawn.
More mobs! You know about the 4-way but there are also 2 easy mobs you can add as well. At the top of the tunnel to EW you will see 2 giants standing ABOVE the ice. Pull the giant UNDER the ice on the right and if you stand on the EDGE of the ledge, he will punch you and warp up without running to the stairs. Your wolf will shred this low level mob. Now the two up top can spawn as Lieutenants. I can hit them from the ledge using our level 1 nuke spell. If you see an ADJUTANT you may wish to break LoS so he can't cast on you. Have the wolf eat those two mobs and you'll be golden. Again, stand on the edge of the ledge so they don't run all the way to the stairs. You can take a hit or two with regen up, these guys aren't super mean.
27 minute repops in Kael, I usually have 10 minutes or so after I kill all the 4-way mobs and the two above the ice. If you are worried about the pet during this down time, break him, ensnare him at the top of the tunnel. GATE, invis, SoW, run to the bottom of the tunnel and chill, that wolf is parked for the next 10 mins or so.

Really nice write up Hannibal! I'm guessing an Ench could do this too?
Do the giants you're killing drop all possible armor pieces? If so, sounds like a great way to upgrade some gear while getting XP in the early to mid 50s.

Giants can't be mezzed/stunned, which is a bummer for enchanters.
The enchanter will also struggle with the lack of snare. The wolves social and have a stupid high MR, Pacify is not guaranteed to land even at 60. Assuming you did Pacify the nearby wolves, getting the wolf from the pit to the tunnel usually aggroes all the giants in front of the bank. The druid skips this part as he uses snare to "park" the wolf past the bank and all the adds when he gates out. You COULD try using root and just know that you have a very short timer to reclaim that pet (wolves have high MR, root will likely break early).
If you can get a duo with a snare class (preferably druid), this is all remedied and you would just tash, Gate, have your friend do the snare game, they gate, you claim the pet.
Druid + Chanter is really a solid combo down there. The slows make life so easy. You can't mez the giants, so just keep roots up. With an enchanter buddy and 2 wolves you can take the entire Arena (we kill Bvellos first so he doesn't path on us while clearing the see-invis mobs). Just keep Sieve up for Adjutants (they gate), everything else is just Slow + Dog DPS and the occasional spot heals from the druid if slows take too much mana.
Super handy tip for charmers: If you are duo'ing with a utility class (Shaman, Druid, Enchanter, etc) DUEL them. They can now Snare, Malo, Tash etc your pet and all you have to do is hit PET BACK OFF. This is great outside of wolves too as your pet can be safely nuked by your partner down to super low HP before you break them and do the last nuke for exp.

That is a great tip, thanks. Just be aware that your aoe stun will now hit them too. I learned this the hard way on my cleric after dueling an enchanter who aoe mezzed themself.

Just read the write up, appreciate the info! This helps explain what I saw in a video before much better. I found the chest piece but wouldn’t mind trying this out to farm more pieces!

Sorry I didn't see your 2nd part, yes you can get all the pieces. This would be TERRIBLE exp and likely a series of CR's in the low 50's though. That high MR on the wolves is no joke. Even at 60 with animal tash on them, it is not unusual to get 2 or 3 charm resists, which is why I like using that long tunnel. If you did this right when you got the charm spell, I doubt it would land and if it did, it'd likely break with the quickness. I would not suggest this until level 58 or so if you're worried about being safe.
IF you have a rezzer parked at the safe spot by the building at 4-way though, then let the deaths roll and pray for loot wins. I did this around level 53 as a druid and it was not my best moment, I could barely kill one or two giants before pet breaks, constantly needed to have root on the mobs I was attacking due to the breaks etc. Not impossible, just not likely to give you a solid win. If you are low 50's and can get a chanter or another druid to help you, this is defintely doable, you just want someone to help split aggro on breaks or assist with roots.

+1 vote to farm and buy the MQ. Or do guild events in the Arena where it’s typically Need Before Greed. With the RNG of low drop percentage and a massive loot table a single player killing giants has all the odds stacked against them.
I would keep checking the market and put a WTB out there.

That was an amazing post on farming kael as a druid.
Have you considered posting a guide to wiki for prosperity sake?
Is “form a crew” still banned?
Either way consider crewing up with a silky, platey and chainy to turn over spawns faster in exchange for handing off the unneeded drops?

I met two of my best friends doing this. You can also duo the plate house with this method and an enchanter. It's a lot of fun and the bond is strong!

For a "crew"...
I would suggest pet classes like Necro (cloth), Mage (cloth), since you want all aggro on the wolf. Tell them to turn pet taunt off. Necro being better on utility here.
A bard (plate) is always great for regen and Crowd Control (wolves can be mezzed).
Shaman (chain) for utility is nice, /duel and they can keep your pet on malo etc.
Enc (cloth) is the obvious combo.
Cleric (plate) can root for crowd control and combat rez you on bad pet breaks. You die, Cleric roots wolf/giant, then drags your body, then memblurs the wolf/giant, who should have at least 5 mins of snare, enough time to rez, resnare, reroot, and re-blur until you are ready to start up again.
Sk (plate), Paladin (plate), warrior (plate), monk (leather), rogue (chain) and ranger (chain) are harder to work with. A good SK/Ranger can help on dps/utility and stay alive, but the others are likely to try and melee and we want all dps on the wolf who has insane regen. If you have a cleric, more friends is nice though. If you have a chanter and they know how to joust, that works too.
