Was looking through some of my old computer software, etc... and came across this... was wondering if it should be once again valid...

Much of the advice in that guide isn't the "Best" way to do things, and there are better resources online for the most part. But I only flipped through it back in 2000/2001 and found it relatively useless then and by that judging it useless now.

Great toilet reading, from memory came in handy sometimes for basic stuff like spell info - my internet connection could not handle EQ and loading webpages at the same time...

I found my plastic folder with all my maps and notes the other day, good times.

An ink and paper guide to a game that gets patched and updated on a week to week basis was never a very good idea.

Never was valid for the most part.

I seem to recall a particular part about creating an SK, whereby your primary stat was listed as WIS.

sk creation is on page 125, and it clearly says int.

I'm not so sure about that. I bet somebody got filthy rich off the idea!

It was amazing for spell info. I actually loved that thing. I wish I had a copy still, because it was gargantuan and perfect for the bathroom.

I used this back in the day. It was out dated, sure, but for the most part the maps were fine and the spell data helped when online resources weren't as available. If you were using it as an actual "game guide" then you were wasting your time. As a simple reference for things that weren't consistently changing- it did its job just fine. Wondering what level druids get SoW? Book had it covered. Where's the zone line in Cabalis? Book had it covered.

For the most part I remember leaving it in the bathroom though..

For a complete noob, it was a good book for getting familiar with the game, such as learning the lingo and etiquette, learning some of the class roles, seeing which spells are available, etc. Yeah, a lot of the info was dated, but it was still a fun read during downtime, patch days, and internet outages.

The best part was the gods section imo, and i rememebr being dissapointed they only listed the stats for bears, gnolls, gators etc. Not to mention about 10 % of the info in the book was just strait wrong.

It's something else like that then, maybe int for pallys. I don't recall exactly nor have the book anymore.

It made an allusion to it for a class - I do not remember which - that said although wis was highlighted, wis was not a primary stat for said class. That much I remember.

The guide was, by and large, corrrect, and I still use it for spells/recipes.

Think I still have mine around somewhere. I used to read it whenever I took a shit. Most of the info is kinda useless in it though.

So you literally read it religiously! lol

But yeah, most of the info in it is pretty useless.

This part is just extremely far from the truth; the grand majority of the information in the book is still accurate.
