View Full Version : Best race for war?

Rolling a new war specifically for raid tanking.
Do I go ogre with max cha or half elf max cha?
CHA is the only stat that doesn't get maxed with buffs / gear endgame.
Wondering is FSI is actually that noticeable when raid tanking?
War aggro is all clickies anyways...

FSI is noticable when raid tanking. It's like the only real use of it.
That said, fashion is the true end game.

ogre has like 30 less CHA than high elf does that not effect DI that much?

Bard song maxes ogre CHA. Tall small waist races don’t fly through ogre wall on tunare as much. Gnome has the best self haste. Iksars have less potential dps. Ogres can bowger for maximum possible dps with weighted axe. Play what you think looks coolest.

Do you have to put your points in CHA on ogre to max it endgame?

I'm going to ignore the question that is about raiding and answer that there is no way I'd pass up Cog Boost 40% haste clicky as a Gnome in the current timeline.

Iksar, Gnome, Troll and Ogre all have their own upsides where no upside is strictly better than the others.

If it's strictly for raiding it's ogre, some mobs like aow stun so much ogre makes a huge difference.
Di seems to work pretty often even on my 40cha dwarf,so I wouldn't worry too much about that aspect.
My warrior is a dwarf,6.5k hp. Last time I tanked aow, according to my logs I was stunned around 30% of the time
Now that makes no difference in tanking or procs, but it makes a huge difference in white agro. If I'm first tank on aow I burn a scepter, whereas an ogre even with inferior agro weapons probably wouldn't need to.

automatically disables riposte, excellent feature incase your auto attack button breaks.

Yet, we see plenty of non-ogre MTs in raids. Come to think of it, we have to add halfling to the list as well. Dwarf may even deserve a mention for the mr and barrrel roll.

^ Preshrunk, wall-look, 40% click haste
For all the aggro complaints warriors face rolling with innate Alacrity is pretty OP.

thanks for your input,
The only reason i would be putting the starting points into CHA is bc the other stats that matter (sta, str, dex) all get capped with gear + buffs. unless they changed agi to work?
Lookin like im going with ogre :)

The eat the most riposte, since they don't get stunned.
You can mitigate that by using redblade mainhand, rather than a willsapper or something fast.

Don’t worry, most or least damage taken on AoW only one guild kills it on repop every 5 days so it doesn’t matter.

Looking at the BIS items in the p99 war wiki you get a total of +35 charisma and putting all 25pts into charisma would give you a whopping 97 charisma.
Add shaman buff and bard song for a total of +176 caps your charisma at 255. Note that you would still cap it if you only put 7 points into charisma. If you however were to equip Brain of Cazic Thule, given its -25 charisma penalty, you will not be able to cap charisma with bard song and shaman buff. This is regardless if you go +25 charisma at creation or not. If potions stack then you could use a potion to plug that hole, the only difference is that for someone who only puts 7 points into charisma has a bigger hole w/o this measure.
Even considering vendor prices neither choice (7 cha or 25 charisma) will allow you to hit a new breakpoint with BIS gear. Unless again, you have Brain equipped which you can simply unequip.
Thus the only advantage of going 25 charisma occurs when you don't have a bard song or shaman buff. I honestly have no idea if tanks typically have bards pumping charisma, and even if they do the bard could die.
All combat stats do max out eventually with BIS gear and Avatar, at least I believe they do? Perhaps if dex doesn't max out with regular buffs then it'd be helpful with points into dex to make avatar proc faster. It would also help you on your whole Warrior journey.
And sure, some may say "oh but you need several super contested items to get all that charisma" but that's what you gotta do to be a raid tank where DI and charisma even theoretically matters.
So 7 cha 18 dex? Is that the way?

It’s not as good as turning off attacking but p99 is about many small things adding up.
Sitting down (as a wizard) ALWAYS was taunt agro +911.
Just do it.

The answer is none. If there was any real advantage we'd be seeing way more of that race given how min/maxy this server is. Still a ton of non ogre warriors. The biggest difference maker overall is gnome haste arms. However you can mitigate half of that by just getting an eyepatch. War should be a race you pick solely based on fashion imo. Any major starting stat advantage won't last long with raid gear/buffs.

Dark elf /nod
Best all around, fashion, don't get stuck, good enough cha that di always fires with shaman buff /nod
And you don't need ogres wall for tunare if you know how to tank her /nod. See video for reference. https://youtu.be/TnSvLkOVfxU?si=l0tP-p_avRVnUh5p
Haha ogre wall. Ogres used to be the "best and only" tank until they were shown the door.
They paniced and yelled "You still need us!"
Your god forsook you. And so say we all.
