View Full Version : How many level 60 classes to fully understand the game?

Hi. I was wondering if I ever bring my Iksar Necromancer to level 60 and maybe even do some successful raids, will I be able to get all the other 4 classes of Iksar to level 60 with little problems because pushing the Necro to level 60 taught me the entire game fundamentals?
Or do you think a real professional player needs at least 2 different or more classes at level 60?
I mean if I got a Necromancer to level 60 would I be able to get a Warrior or a Shadow Knight to level 60 with the same effort just taking longer because melee classes are harder to play?

Even war and SK view meleeing through very different lenses.
Definitely you’d want experience as a melee dps, a tank and a healer in groups.

if you play an enchanter you'll learn all game mechanics save for a few nuance high end tank things

In my opinion playing a cleric gives the most insight. Maybe a warrior after thaf

Playing dps classes gives the least insight. Playing in groups gives more than soloing

Playing as a twink or with twinks skews interpretation. Doing content that is too weak skews aswell

Your experience getting to 60 on a necro will be valuable on any class you decide to play. Particularly SK you'll have some more familiarity with. However I wouldn't say it's necessarily hard to get to 60 on any class, it's more about having the time to grind, though leveling efficiently can be a skill. But I think particularly with necro you'll learn more at 60 than the leveling journey if you decide to tackle some of the higher level camps in HS, seb, chardok, etc.

Once you level a necro to 60 you've attained virtually all the knowledge needed to level any class to 60. Each class has a little bit of specialization but you probably already have a pretty good feel for how each class is specialized just from interacting with the other classes. Every class will have a small learning curve of how to play the class effeciently.
Playing multiple classes doesn't really advance your understanding of the game much when it comes to leveling content. It really only matters if you are one of the handful of bleeding edge raid strategists that are pushing the limits of current or new metas, or to a lesser extent a raid leader (many are more like a raid manager). In that world there is nearly an eternal depth of things to learn and quirks of different game mechanics and fringe abilities that can help cobble together some impressive strategies. Its basically the difference between current raid metas and ones we saw during classic live for this era.

You can hit lvl 60 on any class and learn very little. Don’t fall for the trap that you’ll learn a lot by hitting 60.

Starting at level 1 the game does not change, thats why its good.

Leveling to 60 gets easier the more times you do it.
The game takes someone obsessing over mechanics and silly trivia knowledge. If you are full-in on the necro and burn a lot of play time trying to figure it out, you certainly will learn your raid roles and be a great necro.
Sometimes just being good at a couple classes is good enough. I have nine 60’s and only think I’m “good” at a few of them :).

A necro who hits 60 grouping in KC vs a necro who hits 60 soloing HS south will be worlds apart skill wise so I don't think level means all that much but then again a lot of that knowledge is probably wasted on a melee.
There's a fair bit of theory about weapons, damage, mitigation and positioning that is good to know about melees but nothing crazy. I think what will make you save a ton of time is "game sense" and knowing where's what and the good exp spots.
Extra money to twink can also help a lot on melees. Decent weapons, haste and some basic hp gear will go a long way.

Nobody mentioned pullers or chain pulling but I suppose OP will figure that out on the monk.

People are not answering your question; is a level 60 necro who has done some raiding enough to know the fundamentals.
There are two aspects to this game;
1) PVE, kill mobs and gain exp. You got to 60 you know how that works now.
2) Social environment. If you successfully raid that means you are in a raid guild and have also learned how to fundamentally work with other players in this game.
So the answer is, Yes.

YOu'll learn more from reading/absorbing about EQ, then applying what you learned in game...that is if you want to learn efficiently.
Tons of videos and great writeups out there.

also just leveling chars to 60 will teach you about half the game
learn how to make plays in raids, solo / duo hard cash camps, etc...lots of stuff beyond killing easy mobs for 1000 hours
