View Full Version : Counter-Strike: Source is much better than CS:GO/CS2?

I just played some good old Counter-Strike: Source and man it's so much more fun than CS2. It is much faster gameplay and grenades are more useless but the amount of power it gives you with your aim. In CS2 positioning is more important and it's more balanced but it's also slower and boring.
In CS: Source when I spray or shoot any weapon I know where my bullets go. In CS2 I never understood where my bullets go spraying an AK-47 or any other gun which is why I always burst or single tap... In CS: Source you just need good aim and you're good to go. The weapon animations are satisfying like pressing Q twice after a shot with the AWP. It's honestly so much more fun than CS:GO and CS2 ever were. Do you agree?

How come nobody ever made an open world game like everquest this is also like counterstrike?
Like just take counterstrike and make open world zonelines and dungeons that are like CS maps. Why not? Is that a game and idk about it?

Probably because in those times noone thought of that and it would take too much effort. I mean even EverQuest took a lot of effort and great developers. And since then the game engines got graphically more intense and also made it harder to make such a game that you are describing. I mean closest thing to that we have is Far Cry.
The thing is you're right, CS: Source and 1.6 guns feel so much more fun than Far Cry... It's the engine's fault. They got better graphics but it's harder to make the guns feel fun.

I feel like all the soviet-core games are kinda what you're talking about. Stalker, Metro, Tarkov. Fallouts would fit that, too.

I wanted stalker to be EQ FPS so bad! Yeah it's close, very clsoe.
Tarkov is too like "game match" like...
Actually I tried this crazy game that is basically Everquest + Tarkov once. But it wasa too fuckn typical mmo PVPer mindset.
Like, pure psycopath player base. Once I was in a litle cave behind a locked door... and I heard someone outside of the door.
So, knowing what i know about how pvp players are like real jungle preditors and will sit and watch their pray for an unlimited amount of time, I went afk for 15-20 mins and ran an errand.
I came back, put on my headpones, and creped through the door and BAM fucker was ready to insta gib me fucker was like finger hovering over the attack button for like 20+ minuets... to a "guess" that i was in there.
mmo pvp is so fucked up.

but even it is still like "matchy" like tarkov.
I think stalker is the closest Ive ever felt.

shovelquest is right. Someone should just make a free2play fps open world shooter with a good old world engine like Source 1 and make a huge map similar in scale to EverQuest with many zones where it loads between them and create many different mobs with many items... An inventory and level up game just like EverQuest but as a first person shooter. It would be amazing.
