A = 6, B = 12, C = 18. And so on and so forth. So you get 306 and you add 360 and that equals 666. Covid happened right afterwards.

The famous line in Silence of the Lambs, "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti" (Amarone in the book), Hannibal Lecter is making a medical joke. Liver, fava beans, and wine are all foods that you especially have to avoid while taking MAOI psych meds, because of nasty interactions. Lecter, being both a psychiatrist and serial killing cannibal, knows this. So he's basically saying he killed him... in a way that also reveals he wasn't taking his psych meds :D

Also borderline personality disorder (which one can imagine a serial killer having), plus it was the 80's and I'm sure they fired these meds at the hip. Even more than they do now

Also, if you're going to watch One flew over the cuckoos nest, I suggest making it a JN double feature and watching The Last Detail first.
IMO one flew over the cuckoos nest is the unofficial sequel to The Last Detail, because this is definitely the same character Pre mental institutionalization :o

I'll have you know that I was convinced that Cool Hand Luke was the better Cuckoo's Nest movie by no less of an authority than the aunt of Trent Reznor (ie. Nine Inch Nails) ;)
(Yes, I know that's an appeal to authority, and not even a particularly great authority ... but it's still 100% true.)

They're not, but... what do you think nurses do? I don't really want your answer, but it's a number of things. Administration of medication is a big one and you have to know things about "psychoactive medicines" before you give them to people because there's a couple side effects. There's contraindications. Black box warnings. Call the doctor if... Just knowing what the thing does in relation to whether its appropriate for the patient or a seriously bad idea due to a number of factors. Nurses are the last safety check before giving a potentially harmful substance. It's just a point I wanna clarify because knowing things about drugs is inseparable from a nurse's role in healthcare. You seem to think that's not the case. Hope this helps.

AI Overview
The Thieves' Accomplice:
The Hand of Glory - The Haunted ...
The Hand of Glory is a legendary object, appearing in European folklore as a mummified, severed hand of a hanged criminal, particularly from the 15th century onwards. It was believed to aid burglars by inducing a deep sleep in inhabitants, opening locks, or even by acting as a magical candlestick with a candle made from the criminal's fat, which only the holder could see, and could only be put out with milk. Preparation involved pickling the hand in various substances, drying it, and then exposing it to the sun or an oven.
Origin and Beliefs
Gallows Tradition: The Hand of Glory was the hand of a man who had been hanged, often the right hand or the hand used in the crime.
Magical Properties: It was believed to have several powers, including:
Inducing Sleep: It could lull people into a deep, unwakeable sleep.
Opening Locks: It was thought to have the ability to open any door or lock.
Candle Holder: In some versions, a candle made from the same hanged man's fat and virgin wax was placed in the hand, which burned only for the holder and was only extinguishable with milk.
Indicating Watchers: In a variation, fingers of the hand would be lit, and an unlit finger signaled an awake person inside the house.
Preparation of a Hand of Glory
Removal: The hand was cut from a still-hanging corpse.
Pickling: It was then pickled in salt, human and animal urine, or in a mixture of saltpetre, salt, and pepper.
Drying and Preservation: After being pickled for days, it was smoked with herbs and hay, hung on an oak tree, laid at a crossroads, and then hung on a church door to dry further.
Historical Context
Folklore: The Hand of Glory is a product of folklore and superstition, with stories of its use emerging across Europe and Russia from the 15th century onwards.
Museums: Real Hands of Glory are displayed in some museums, including the Whitby Museum in England, which contains the only known surviving Hand of Glory. These artifacts are mummified human hands, but their magical powers remain a matter of considerable debate.

The Quantum-Precognition Connection (Speculative Theories)
Retrocausality: This concept, which arises in some interpretations of quantum mechanics, suggests that an action in the future could influence an event in the past. Some researchers hypothesize that this quantum retrocausality could be a mechanism for phenomena like intuition or precognition, suggesting that information from a future cognitive state "leaks backward" into the present consciousness.
Consciousness Theories: Some non-mainstream theories, like the Orchestrated Objective Reduction (Orch OR) model, suggest that consciousness is a quantum process occurring in the brain's microtubules. Proponents of these theories sometimes propose that the quantum nature of consciousness could lead to entanglement across time, offering a potential, albeit unproven, physical basis for precognitive experiences.

If it was real and they had, how are we to know whether they did or didn't? Surely by its very nature it could be concealed.
they've proven it's real but its like pointless small shit and not a cool X-Men mutant power or anything.
still werid it exists at all, and we haven't progressed in our understanding of it really since a dude called it Spooky 78 years ago, just those laser expirements concluding "yep, shit's spooky alright."
"I cannot seriously believe in it because the theory cannot be reconciled with the idea that physics should represent a reality in time and space, free from spooky actions at a distance".

Orchestrated Objective Reduction is such a fun theory, if a bit fantastical. The whole concept of wave function collapse tickles my cockles.

I feel like this is extra fantastical for a quantum mechanics theory, because one of the fundamental assumptions of most quantum mechanical applications is that randomness exists, and therefore the universe is not deterministic (ie, it does not have linear time with a fated sequence of events).
Intuitively, retrocausality and randomness probably can't both exist-- how could something leak back from the future if random events can happen between now and then? But then, maybe it's human bias to view time the way we do through our limited lens of only living in one slice of it, and it actually works far differently.
This was the great scientific debate in 20th century physics and frankly my favorite mystery about the universe; Einstein believed the universe was deterministic, randomness did not exist, and Niels Bohr believed the opposite. Bohr's camp is widely regarded to have been vindicated by discoveries since then, but it's a question we're still trying to put to rest even today. The 2022 Nobel Prize was awarded to a team that basically eliminated one of the determinism folks' loopholes (https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/physics/2022/popular-information/) that they could use to claim linear time/determinism existed in spite of the supposed randomness we observe.

I like Mini series, more than "series"
TV series are just soap operas. There is no meaning. No vision. No grand story to be told.
Just opportunities for different actors to "act" and "be dramatic".
Movies and books were like, a writers vision of something specific!

This guy is probably the original Call of Duty player.
He served in the Boer War, First World War, and Second World War. He was shot in the face, head, stomach, groin, ankle, leg, hip, and ear. He was also blinded in his left eye, survived two plane crashes, tunnelled out of a prisoner-of-war camp, and tore off his own severely injured fingers when a doctor declined to amputate them. Describing his experiences in the First World War, he wrote, "Frankly, I had enjoyed the war."

Hah, I hadn't seen that. Very cool.
Part of me thinks, if you take the entirety of the vast collection of fiction our society has produced, and then you take all the uncountable meaningful events of the past 50 years or so, statistically, there will surely be connections that appear meaningful. This part of me recognizes that the appearance of meaning is almost certainly the result of the many cognitive biases innate to the human mind.
The other part of me thinks, stacking Bush, 9/11, AND an obscure internet forum for an emulated 90's game where Bush/towers are a meme, basically 3 axes deep in synchronicity....... well that overlap of meaning can't be that statistically likely, especially when the movie was made before 9/11. This part wants to believe that some abstraction of the human concept of meaning is somehow a part of the fabric of the universe, and because time is not linear, sometimes we see retrocausality; something dancing with itself forwards and backwards in the infinite causal chain.
Those two parts of me hate each other, and the result is schizo-posting.

In Chicago, especially Cook and DuPage and Lake counties and the townships there have been invaded by a cadre of armed soldiers in full military gear doing business as police with military logistics who in the last month have made it known that the boots on the ground don't know how to police and word on the street from friends across time zones is that you may not be hearing this if you're watching the news in another part of the country.
Armed men wearing masks are renting nondescript small trucks and kidnapping people off the street. Even renting U-Hauls and doing this. Shooting nonviolent unaggressive protestors from an elevated position without warning or provocation with pepper balls targeting the head. Tear gassing a street that was about to have a Halloween parade for children in a quiet neighborhood to effect an arrest. Detaining and threatening citizens and lying. Lying despite facts. You think a global city like Chicago doesn't have cameras?
They cover their faces and are not wearing bodycams. And they are doing this under orders from U.S. Customs and Enforcement. 3000 people have reportedly been "disappeared" (no record of them in custody after being kidnapped) by fatigued cadets with rifles across the country according to NBC and I'm here to tell you it is unwise to piss off the logistics hub of the Midwest on top of existing problems being caused by the current group that controls 3 branches of U.S. government. Not that the sleepy octogenarian in the white house or his advisors and enablers care. Need somethibg specialist in Omaha? Louisville? Kansas City? Nashville? There's a very good chance it was brought into O'Hare and shipped to you by truck. Not even to mention the railroads. That includes medicine and food and fuel. But Chicago plays the long game and the elected local leaders are in court while public sentiment is turning against these masked invaders who lie and have yet to be accountable.
Meanwhile they won't pay air traffic controllers or swear in a Congressman while they command soldiers to cripple the population with stress and fear. That's costing productivity and would anywhere in the world. Sharing here because it's factual. Sorry if I get the thread deleted.

Yes I really believe they are shooting non-violent protestors. That is a true thing that is truly happening.

Cool bro. I trust anyone here for more than a month knows what you believe. Care to be explicit about your standard or proof? If not shut up. I will wait online until you answer me.

I think you're referring to the Portland "non-violent" protestors that broke all the windows at the ICE facility?

And then the Oregon District judge ordered them to take down the boards after they boarded up the windows the "non-violent" protestors broke?
