The change in the environment here on the forums. If you google something game-related, and get to a forum post about it - and you land on something from like 2016-2020 - you get a combination of helpful advice and light disagreement.
Fast forward to 2023-2025 and every post devolves into arguing, trolling or a combination of both.
Example:
"What weapon is best for Paladin solo?"
2016: Pages of discussion, some light disagreement. One guy says Paladin sucks at solo.
2023+: Two legitimate responses followed by 65 pages of DSM or other likely candidates arguing over minutae, and resorting to character attacks.
Is this a sign of the direction of the internet discussion at large? My gut tells me yes. P99 Forums are ahead of the curve when it comes to public discourse.
It sucks everywhere these days,
