View Full Version : Velious armor clickies: same casting time?

I was looking at magician Velious armor and noticed that the casting time on the Kael robe was mentioned to be 14 seconds, while it was 16 seconds for all other magician Velious robes. I wonder if this has been verified?
I did not check the stated casting time on all armor, but I checked the cleric BP real quick and it was the same for the Thurgadin/Kael/Skyshrine/Plane of Growth BP.
Does anyone know if it is true and if it applies to any other armor?

I can't speak directly for magician armor but I can confirm other classes have different cast times on the clickies between the 3 (4 if you count growth) options and there are other examples of the kael armor having a shorter cast time than others. I have also never seen the info on the velious armor on the wiki to be wrong so I'm assuming it is 100% accurate based on all of that.

That's good to know! I mean, I don't use the Shield of Lava clicky but a shorter cast time on a useful free spell might make it worthwhile to faction Kael!

If you plan to use the mage for Kael racing I could see factioning. With the lack of faction hits for a mage, being ally to CoV and Rif/Zek could be handy depending on where you bind and park.
Personally, I can see using the robe in groups depending on the circumstances. I’m not certain it’s worth factioning though to shave 2 seconds off the click. I keep the Thurg robe equipped for that lush purple and green fashion :) .

I just combed the wiki and these seem to be the cases where the casting time isn't the same:
Enchanter
Feet: Invisibility
Beguiler’s Slippers (Thurgadin): 8.0 s
Dazzling Slippers (Kael): 8.0 s
Illusionist’s Slippers (Skyshrine): 8.0 s
Resplendent Slippers (Plane of Growth): 9.0 s
Magician
Chest: Shield of Lava
Arch Mage’s Robe (Thurgadin): 16.0 s
Summoner’s Robe (Kael): 14.0 s
Prestidigitator’s Robe (Skyshrine): 16.0 s
Robe of Conjuration (Plane of Growth): 16.0 s
Necromancer
Chest: Conjure Corpse
Warlock’s Robe (Thurgadin): 25.0 s
Plague Bearer’s Robe (Kael): 20.0 s
Rotting Robe (Skyshrine): 18.0 s
Robe of the Bonecaster (Plane of Growth): 25.0 s
Wrist: Reclaim Energy
Warlock’s Wristguard (Thurgadin): 1.0 s
Plague Bearer’s Wristguard (Kael): 1.0 s
Rotting Wristguard (Skyshrine) : Instant
Wristband of the Bonecaster (Plane of Growth) : 1.0 s
Rogue
Chest: Invigorate
Brigand’s Chestguard (Thurgadin) : 15.0 s
Deceiver’s Chestguard (Kael) : 14.5 s
Shadow Chestguard (Skyshrine) : 14.5 s
Assassin’s Chestguard (Plane of Growth) : 15.0 s
Wizard
Chest: Enticement of Flame
Sage’s Robe (Thurgadin) : 28.0 s
Robe of the Invoker (Kael) : 25.0 s
Robe of Icicles (Skyshrine) : 24.0 s
Sorcerer’s Robe (Plane of Growth) : 28.0 s
Legs: Elemental Armor
Sage’s Pantaloons (Thurgadin) : Instant
Pants of the Invoker (Kael) : 15.0 s
Icicle Pantaloons (Skyshrine) : 15.0 s
Sorcerer’s Pantaloons (Plane of Growth) : 15.0 s
If these numbers are correct, I would say the difference is minimal, except in the case of wizards: 14,3% difference between shortest and longest casting time for the robe, for Enticement of Flame (a spell that I think they use a lot?) and an instant cast resist buff. The necromancers also get a nice difference (28%) on Conjure Corpse.
In addition, the Kael armor having the shortest casting time doesn't appear to be consistent, as all four locations seem to provide with at least one piece of armor where the casting time is shorter than the others.
It was fun digging for all this :) If anyone has any info on incorrect casting times, please let me know.
Cheers!

In addition its worth noting that the velious armor clickies aren't the only ones, some classes have other options that are better.
Examples that come to mind are Mrylokar's BP for rogues has a way faster cast time for the same heal. Wizards have multiple clicky options for mana free nukes, the best velious robe is like middle of the pack as far as DPS clickies

True! But I was more surprised about the difference between different Velious armors. I was under the impression that they were all identical, except for stats.

Yeah i got one assuming it would be something reasonable like 15s just like any other bp. Whoops! At least it meant i got to liquidate my fear robe.
If you jam yourself in a corner, start cast then kite a circle returning to the corner to finish you can kinda cast it without being hit but idk if it is worth it. For finishing stuff off I find medding while the sword pet dps before reclaiming pet and finishing mob with melee/mana to be more effective (or fun).

Note how recommending a sword pet over anything is probably the worst possible indictment for the other thing.

Yeah conflag/rend robe are like 15sec IIRC and even conflag robe felt niche since 15sec took forever in combat. If you didn't snare/root you could start casting and the runner often ended out of range before finishing. Back on live I remember feeling like just throwing a fucking ice spear and medding was much less of a hassle. I liked it for some use but for the running in a corner thing sure, you could do it all day but all fights took like 5x as long.
28sec is roflcopter.

Yeah the real value to wizard robe nuke is for twinking when you can still kill a mob with a single nuke or open the fight with it and finish them off with only 1 or 2 nukes I can make a big difference at the low level range. Virtually no value once you can actually cast the nuke itself.
